"Just spent a week in San Pedro at Sunset Beach #A6 and our stay couldn't have been any better. Condo unit was great with everything we needed. Great location as short distance away from town and felt secure and safe entire visit. Visited at low season and loved the timing with less traffic everywhere we went. Onsite caretaker was great and we saw him everyday on the property for anything we needed or questions we had. Notebook in the condo has lots of great info. Tour company across the street took such good care of us on the excursions we took while there (reef fishing, snorkeling, Mayan ruins and cave tubing), and their guides were top notch. Thanks so much! Tom & Julie"Guest: Julie N Date of Stay: September 2014 Review Submitted: October 14, 2014View listing
"Villa del Sol exceeded our lofty expectations for a charming, authentic experience on Ambergris Caye. The house was immaculate, tastefully and lovingly decorated, with large, open second floor. The owner clearly loves her beach home and provides everything you'll need to cook at home, if desired. On-site staff available but not intrusive. Rachel cleaned every other day and washed towels and sheets. Water taxi is clearly the best way to get around, as the previous rains had made some parts of the "road" impassable. Other option is to rent a bike and join the many locals who travel north/south by path near the water's edge. Good idea to load up on groceries in San Pedro when you arrive -- the nearby market is tiny but well provisioned, if not a bit pricey. Water taxi was reliable and reasonably priced; but before you make plans to use it to go out to dinner, check to see if the restaurant has their own shuttle service. We used the shuttle from "O" at Las Terazas and also from "Mambo" at Matachica, two upscale resorts with excellent restaurants on site. We also enjoyed dining at Elvi's Kitchen in downtown San Pedro -- it was excellent, resulting in multiple visits over two weeks. Less noteworthy, for us, were Blue Water and Rojo, the former in south San Pedro and the latter just north of Villa del Sol. While we didn't use Genie at Coral Divers, neighbors did and reported good experiences. We dove three times with Amergris Divers and found them to be professional, friendly and a great value. Finally, the owner of VDS, Janice, is a delightful woman who loves the island, her home there and willingly offers advice and recommendations just for the asking. A true gem! Thank you, and we certainly hope to return to VDS!"Guest: Michael S. Date of Stay: January 2014 Review Submitted: January 16, 2014View listing
"stayed with my family of four and was very happy with the location as well as amenities of the condo. Walking distance to everything, including convenience stores, restaurants, activities, and also Beach front!! Minni and Milo are very gracious hosts. Milo even came in his golf cart to drop us to the Water taxi as we had to take the 6 am boat leaving the Caye!!"Guest: hina Date of Stay: January 2014 Review Submitted: January 14, 2014View listing
"We just returned from our wonderful trip to Belize and I'm already missing it. This house was perfect for us and our two teenaged kids, a boy and a girl. Each bedroom has 2 Twin beds that can be separated or kept together as a King. Somehow the beds don't separate if you put them together, so there's no falling through the crack and the beds were very comfy. The views of the gorgeous turquoise colored water were amazing and we loved having our own dock to hang out on. This also made it easy for boats to come pick us up for excursions we booked. We did not rent a golf cart and I really don't think one is necessary. We would take the Coastal Express water taxi when we needed to get into town (only twice). The Mata Grande grocery store is an easy walk and although it's small they have all the basics you need. Next door to the grocery store is Aurora's restaurant. It has great breakfasts and lunch at a very reasonable price. The kitchen has pretty much everything you need, but I do wish it had a basic spice cupboard. Other than that, no complaints. The best part of our stay at Castillo de Arena was having William, the caretaker around. He was at the dock to greet us when our water taxi arrived and was so helpful in giving advice about the island. He showed our teenaged son how to spear fish which was the highlight of his trip and he also showed us the best spots to kayak out to and snorkel. On our second to last night William gave us an awesome coconut demonstration for his coconut rice recipe. He also barbecued some fish and lobster that the guys caught during their spear fishing adventures. We really enjoyed our stay at this house and look forward to returning again, hopefully next year!"Guest: Nancy Date of Stay: July 2014 Review Submitted: August 12, 2014View listing
