  • Lovely

"This vacation rental was lovely and Jackie and Eloy were very helpful and friendly. We felt very safe and the apartment was very clean, comfortable beds, nicely decorated and kitchen was well stocked. Eloy took us out snorkelling and fishing a couple times and cooked a fantastic lunch. The setting for lunch was very rustic, which added to this experience for us. Eloy was a fantastic fishing guide also. We would definitely stay at this place again if we came back to Belize. The local people are friendly helpful happy and we really enjoyed the people and their food is fantastic."

  • Our stay at Villa La Jolla, Los Encantos Ambergris Caye, Belize

"Our family of 6 spent six nights at Vila La Jolla. I can simply describe the overall stay as a phenomenal family vacation with the property, locale and amenities all meeting or exceeding our expectations. We found this property on VRBO via a simple search that included our preferred dates and rooming requirements. Once we found that the property was available, we contacted the owner Sally with specific questions on the location and the property and were amazed at the prompt (and now we know genuinely warm) response. She described the property, the room set up, the amenities and general aspects of the location. She did not oversell the property. Once we decided on the property and dates, the transaction with the property managers was seamless. Closer to the dates, we reached back to Sally and Trish (property manager) with now a barrage of questions. Again, within a few hours, Sally responded to all our questions (with Trish filling in the gaps) and this helped us prepare for our trip - as a family, we wanted a nice mix of R&R at the home and balancing it with local activities and nightlife on the island. There were no surprises. We were picked up at the ferry dock (Belize to San Pedro water taxi), taken shopping in town for key provisions (yes, Belikin beer!) and ferried across the island on a short 15 min boat ride to the dock at Los Encantos. We were met at the dock by Sergio and Raquel, the housekeepers, and shown to the house with all of the features explained. It is a beautiful house and a wonderful property. The house overlooks the water and property has a beautiful salt-water pool that the family all enjoyed after a busy day out-and-about and before dinner. Speaking of dinner, we had Raquel cook us two incredible meals with both Belizian and Creole flair. One night we had Genie, the fisherman who took us fishing and snorkeling, cook us our catch and that in itself was a restaurant-quality dinner. We would recommend this property to all our friends and family. It is wonderfully maintained, has all the amenities and very helpful owners and housekeepers. A very good wireless connection (we all made a pledge to go connection-less on this vacation), satellite TV (yes, we did watch the World Cup) and excellent cooking facilities with all the utensils and gadgets. We wish we had stayed longer but we do have some wonderful photographs and memories. We look forward to going back here."

  • the home was awesome, everything you see in the photos about the house and pool are right.

"We loved the place we stayed at, a little dissapointed at how the beaches of San Pedro were kept up. The weather was absolutely perfect and the restaurants were very good, the average price for two and a couple of drinks for each will run you about 80-90 dollars. An avereage hamberger is about 12.00 american money. All in All I would give San Pedro a 6 oout of 10 because I'm a water lover and it let me down."

  • Best Family Vacation!

"As we pulled up to the dock upon arrival, our 10 year old daughter hugged me and said, "THANK YOU, MOMMY!! THANK YOU!!" That set the tone for our entire trip. My husband, 2 daughters (ages 10 and 7) and I had a great trip. We've stayed in quite a few VRBO houses (and co-own one as well!)--so we've seen the good and the not-so- good in our travels. We found this house to be absolutely beautiful. It is extremely well- maintained, the view is gorgeous and Martin and his wife are truly lovely people. There are so many different activities for families to do in Belize--and the house is located where you can easily do anything you'd like: arrange for a boat to take you snorkeling, jet ski, walk to the yoga retreat, swim in the beautiful pool, ride bikes down the beach or catch a water taxi into San Pedro. Some people wrote in their reviews about the inability to swim or go to the beach outside the house. That was really helpful to know and set your expectation accordingly. You are not going to walk out to the ocean and swim in front of the house--that's just not what this vacation is about. We didn't find any part of Belize to be about being on the beach and swimming. There are so many, many more fascinating ways to spend your time. And, the beauty of this house is the pool allows you to do a whole host of exhausting--yet really cool and unbelievable things during the day--and then have a relaxing swim in the evening. One thing we didn't do--but I'd like for one of the guests to try and report on for the rest of us!!--is have a cook come and prepare food at the house. There are a few good restaurants (the yoga retreat and Aji's) within walking distance--but it would be really helpful to hire someone to cook and not have to worry about it for a couple of meals. Thank you Debbie and Nick for letting our family experience the wonderful home you built. It was one of our best family vacations!"
