  • Casa Caracol Stay

"Our group of 3 couples stayed in the downstairs apartment of Casa Caracol November 21-Nov 29. It was our first trip to Belize, and Ambergris Caye. Phil was very responsive to my emails during the months leading up to our visit. We had him book our flights from Belize City to San Pedro. He met us at the San Pedro airport as promised, and upon our arrival at the house he went over things we should know, which was very helpful. If you listen to his instructions you should have no problems. The house was very clean and inviting, and had everything we needed. We did not do any cooking, as many restaurants and roadside stands were inexpensive, easy and close. We were surprised to see golf carts and other vehicles driving on the beach in front of the house, though it really did not cause any problems for us. The bar next door was really nice... good food and cold beers at reasonable prices. It did get a little loud at night sometimes, so be aware if you are a light sleeper. We used the 2 person kayak and Phil gave us some important instructions before we went to insure our safety. Phil arranged a snorkel trip for us that was fantastic! He also arranged for golf carts when we were ready. He accumulated those charges and we paid him at the end of our stay, which was convenient. He was very responsive to any questions or anything we needed during our stay. We had a lot of fun exploring and riding around on our golf carts. The beach was not the best for lounging, though that didn't stop us ;). We floated in our rafts right in front of the house, and there are lots of creatures to be found in the sea grasses. The locals are very friendly and helpful."

  • We are First Time Belizers.

"We are first time Belizers who have now been converted to Believers. Before deciding to come to Belize with my wife and 13 year old daughter and 8 year old son, we thought about going to Costa Rica but decided against it because the range of options was a little too diverse for us to quickly decide about. We also considered Mexico because it's close but spent the last couple trips in Mexico and wanted something a bit different. Coming from Los,Angeles the flight is only 4:40 minutes and was very manageable, which is always a concern when traveling with kids. We arrived in Belize City and took a taxi to the water taxi, which was about an hour boat ride to Ambergriss Caye. We were met by the management company at the pier who then taxied us to the condo/complex and gave us a small tour. What attracted us to this spot, among other things, was that the place has three bedrooms. Since my son and daughter usually fight when they share a room, it was nice to have a place where they could each have their own room. The air conditioner in the apt. Is preset to 78 degrees which provides for a refreshing breeze when coming inside from the outside heat. The room has a nice view over the pool and of the Carribbean. My wife and I enjoyed sitting on the balcony and watching the kids swim and/or enjoying some coffee or a soda. The unit has a comfortable couch, which is the focal point of the unit and a nice tv with cable. In front of the unit, you will find some locals that sell fruits, cakes and things to eat from time to time. Otherwise, there Is a Convenience store right next door. The building is centrally located just blocks from the south north divide and bridge and movie theatre, which unfortunately only opens in weekends, on the south side. Father north, but within walking distance are all kinds of fun local shops. Also, lots of shops are on the beach and if you are a diver like me, there is a great dive shop just a couple of blocks away. The lodging on the island is a hodgepodge of upscale luxury resorts, diving resorts, private homes and for lack of a better word, shacks. August is supposedly the hurricane season, but we didn't see any hurricanes. August supposedly experiences more rain but even though the weather forecast predicted rain every day during our stay we didn't see any rain. There is really much more I can say but there is no room. All in all, had a great time and I am lamenting my return on this last day. Great, great time diving too."

  • Great location, fair price, friendly folks

"What a wonderful little place on the beach. We came to San Pedro eager to experience everything it had to offer, and we were not disappointed. Close and convenient to everything (including a couple reputable dive shops just down the beach), the casita was wonderfully furnished and great for travelers on a budget. The staff was friendly and helpful, and when we accidentally left $80 (BZE) worth of chocolate in the fridge, Connee and Bill even found a way to get it back to us in the states. Like staying with friends--five stars."
