"We are ending our week's vacation at this beautiful condo and hate to leave. I am sitting on the large balcony looking out to sea and the view is amazing. The condo is close and convenient to everything, being right beside town but very secure. There is a locked gate on the ground floor so only guests can access. The maid and property managers were very attentive and the condo is spacious and cosy. We used the company right at the front of the condo for a snorkelling excursion and they were great. It is wonderful to have the beach at your doorstep. I would definitely highly recommend this spot. We rented a golf cart one day to explore the island but the rest of the week we walked everywhere that we wanted to go. We loved the Blue Water Grill for eating on the beach just a 2 min walk down the beach. We felt very safe walking on the beach, even at night!!! Can't wait to come back."

  • Best Condo at Grande Caribe!

"We LOVED our stay here at the Grand Caribe - but more importantly this unit in particular is one of the best. There are only 2 buildings that look out directly on the ocean; Building A looks out at the pier, whereas Building H (this one) has no blocked view and is more private. The icing on the cake is that the interior is beautifully decorated and since it is a ground floor unit the pool is only a step away! Honestly, the only other unit I would ever rent would be the penthouse in Building H if I had a larger group. This unit, with two bedrooms and two baths, was perfect for our family of 5. Regarding the Grand Caribe - it is beautiful and is known for its customer service. The front desk was always helpful and responsive. Though there are some other resorts up and down Ambergris Caye, we liked GC for two reasons. First, the ones closer to San Pedro are older and just not as nice (our swimming pooled ROCKED). Second, the ones that are further up make you compromise the distance into town with a golf cart. So GC was the perfect compromise. We went into town 3 times during our 7 day stay so proximity was important. Other times, we had water taxis/boats pick us up at the GC pier to take us to different outings."

  • View from the veranda

"Bill and Connee were fantastic hosts! Bill met us off the boat and gave us a quick tour of the town so we could get our bearings. His restaurant recommendations were great (My favorite was Pupiseria tipoco salvadoreño - a two minute walk away). We stayed in their smallest condo unit - perfect for a couple. Super clean and comfortable. It does not have a balcony but there is a rooftop veranda - the view is spectacular. We often spent our late nights with a beverage on the roof. The location could not be better - it is a block in from the main drag. It's less than a minute to your new favorite bar or lots of good restaurants. There is an airport nearby, but you should be awake by the time they start taking off anyway. Plus the airport (tropic air) is a good option to get back to the mainland. Their place is next door to a fantastic dive shop (mystic adventures). The locals seem to know bill and Connee well and liked us more because we were staying at their place. Overall I would absolutely stay there again. Looking forward to my next trip!"

  • Enchanting Experience!

"Villa del Sol exceeded our lofty expectations for a charming, authentic experience on Ambergris Caye. The house was immaculate, tastefully and lovingly decorated, with large, open second floor. The owner clearly loves her beach home and provides everything you'll need to cook at home, if desired. On-site staff available but not intrusive. Rachel cleaned every other day and washed towels and sheets. Water taxi is clearly the best way to get around, as the previous rains had made some parts of the "road" impassable. Other option is to rent a bike and join the many locals who travel north/south by path near the water's edge. Good idea to load up on groceries in San Pedro when you arrive -- the nearby market is tiny but well provisioned, if not a bit pricey. Water taxi was reliable and reasonably priced; but before you make plans to use it to go out to dinner, check to see if the restaurant has their own shuttle service. We used the shuttle from "O" at Las Terazas and also from "Mambo" at Matachica, two upscale resorts with excellent restaurants on site. We also enjoyed dining at Elvi's Kitchen in downtown San Pedro -- it was excellent, resulting in multiple visits over two weeks. Less noteworthy, for us, were Blue Water and Rojo, the former in south San Pedro and the latter just north of Villa del Sol. While we didn't use Genie at Coral Divers, neighbors did and reported good experiences. We dove three times with Amergris Divers and found them to be professional, friendly and a great value. Finally, the owner of VDS, Janice, is a delightful woman who loves the island, her home there and willingly offers advice and recommendations just for the asking. A true gem! Thank you, and we certainly hope to return to VDS!"
