"We just returned from a FANTASTIC trip to Belize. We loved everything about the house. There were 7 adults in our party and we felt that the house was perfect for this size group. We could have privacy or hang out as a group in the large living room area. we loved having a pool to relax in after snorkling, dinner or wandering around the streets of San Pedro. Alfred and Diane mad the trip just perfect. Diane is a fantastic cook and the meals were very affordable. We had Diane prepare a Welcome meal on our day of arrival and its was fabulous. There cost of the meal was much less than if we all had traveled to a restaurant for the evening and MUCH BETTER. Alfred was johnny on the spot. He arranged all our boats to go snorkeling, to other islands, fishing, grocery delivery or just a water taxi into town. It was so convenient to have a dock where all the boats would pick us up for the day. Alfred and Diane are really top notch. THANK YOU! we will definitely return to Belize and most definitely stay at the Beautiful Bajamar house again."Guest: lisa r. Date of Stay: August 2014 Review Submitted: September 10, 2014View listing
"Villa del Sol exceeded our lofty expectations for a charming, authentic experience on Ambergris Caye. The house was immaculate, tastefully and lovingly decorated, with large, open second floor. The owner clearly loves her beach home and provides everything you'll need to cook at home, if desired. On-site staff available but not intrusive. Rachel cleaned every other day and washed towels and sheets. Water taxi is clearly the best way to get around, as the previous rains had made some parts of the "road" impassable. Other option is to rent a bike and join the many locals who travel north/south by path near the water's edge. Good idea to load up on groceries in San Pedro when you arrive -- the nearby market is tiny but well provisioned, if not a bit pricey. Water taxi was reliable and reasonably priced; but before you make plans to use it to go out to dinner, check to see if the restaurant has their own shuttle service. We used the shuttle from "O" at Las Terazas and also from "Mambo" at Matachica, two upscale resorts with excellent restaurants on site. We also enjoyed dining at Elvi's Kitchen in downtown San Pedro -- it was excellent, resulting in multiple visits over two weeks. Less noteworthy, for us, were Blue Water and Rojo, the former in south San Pedro and the latter just north of Villa del Sol. While we didn't use Genie at Coral Divers, neighbors did and reported good experiences. We dove three times with Amergris Divers and found them to be professional, friendly and a great value. Finally, the owner of VDS, Janice, is a delightful woman who loves the island, her home there and willingly offers advice and recommendations just for the asking. A true gem! Thank you, and we certainly hope to return to VDS!"Guest: Michael S. Date of Stay: January 2014 Review Submitted: January 16, 2014View listing
"Six of us adults stayed at this wonderful house for a week. Due to the availability of a boat, boat captain and Kayaks we were able to fish, snorkle, go into town and do just about any activity we wanted. Snorkling at Shark Ray alley was just one of the highlights of our trip and is not to be missed. We were provided three wonderful meals per day much better than you will get in resturants. The entire staff was friendly and went out of their way to accomodate our needs. We will be staying here again in the near future."Guest: Laura A. "Our family of 4 just returned from a one week stay in this unit. We absolutely loved everything about it and thought that our choice of this unit and resort really made the trip the very best. The unit itself is exactly as shown in the photos, although I think it is more spacious than the photos show. Both bedrooms are nice sizes and there is plenty of storage in the bedrooms and bathrooms as well as high quality linens. The kitchen is huge and was by far the best equipped kitchen we have ever had in a vrbo. There were tons of beach towels which we really appreciated. Only slight drawback for us would be that the beds were not especially comfortable - but we think that's typical for Central America and also a matter of preference. It would not keep us from staying again. It is a first floor unit and we loved the convenience (most buildings don't have elevators). It is well located in the resort - convenient to the pools, dock, restaurant, the front office, and the golf cart parking. Daily housekeeping was very nice. The resort itself is unbelievably amazing and after exploring the island over the week stay, we agree that it is the best on the island. Further north the roads get bad and it would have to make getting places more difficult. In town is too congested and not relaxing. Grand Caribe is just far enough away to offer a relaxing atmosphere but convenient enough that you can get to town easily. There is even a convenience/grocery store before the bridge that we used several times. The resort pools are beautiful, the beach/ocean views outstanding. The resort staff impressed us with their friendliness and service. Everything was efficient from check-in to check-out. The resort connected us with great tour providers also. We truly had everything we could have asked for. Some things that may be helpful to future guests: The condo provides toilet paper and toiletry items such as soap, shampoo/conditioner, lotion. Trash bags, dishwasher soap were also provided. These aren't always offered in vrbo rentals. There is a safe in the master bedroom BUT it is very small. It will hold passports, wallets, and smart phones, but it will not fit an ipad or certainly not a laptop. The Wi-Fi worked well and my teens were thankful! The owner was extremely helpful, responsive, etc. We would absolutely stay in this unit again - which we hope to do often now that we've discovered such a great place!"Guest: 4jack Date of Stay: July 2014 Review Submitted: July 28, 2014View listing
