"I highly recommend sunset condo. Every aspect of our stay here was great. The condo has amazing views and was much larger than the pictures showed. We had 7 in our party and never felt a bit cramped."Guest: GiGi Date of Stay: July 2014 Review Submitted: January 19, 2015View listing
"We just returned from our wonderful trip to Belize and I'm already missing it. This house was perfect for us and our two teenaged kids, a boy and a girl. Each bedroom has 2 Twin beds that can be separated or kept together as a King. Somehow the beds don't separate if you put them together, so there's no falling through the crack and the beds were very comfy. The views of the gorgeous turquoise colored water were amazing and we loved having our own dock to hang out on. This also made it easy for boats to come pick us up for excursions we booked. We did not rent a golf cart and I really don't think one is necessary. We would take the Coastal Express water taxi when we needed to get into town (only twice). The Mata Grande grocery store is an easy walk and although it's small they have all the basics you need. Next door to the grocery store is Aurora's restaurant. It has great breakfasts and lunch at a very reasonable price. The kitchen has pretty much everything you need, but I do wish it had a basic spice cupboard. Other than that, no complaints. The best part of our stay at Castillo de Arena was having William, the caretaker around. He was at the dock to greet us when our water taxi arrived and was so helpful in giving advice about the island. He showed our teenaged son how to spear fish which was the highlight of his trip and he also showed us the best spots to kayak out to and snorkel. On our second to last night William gave us an awesome coconut demonstration for his coconut rice recipe. He also barbecued some fish and lobster that the guys caught during their spear fishing adventures. We really enjoyed our stay at this house and look forward to returning again, hopefully next year!"Guest: Nancy Date of Stay: July 2014 Review Submitted: August 12, 2014View listing
"There were 14 of us - 7 couples - age range 45 - 72 - it was wonderful. The house easily accommodated all of us comfortably. The upstairs/downstairs bath & bedroom accommodations in Blue Dolphin were perfect -- same for Li'l - Gloria & Armando took great care of the house and were responsive to all of our questions. It was easy to get to know the city, learn the markets and water taxi systems - roads are pretty primitive so we used water taxis most of the time - very easy -- they come quickly when you call and sometimes we just stood @ the pier and hailed them down. The fishing and snorkeling was great -- some of the best snorkeling we've ever experienced. Mark & Joan were easy to work with in advance and very informative -- they were quick responders and very cordial always. It was a wonderful experience!!!!! Go there!!!"Guest: Teresa Date of Stay: November 2014 Review Submitted: November 19, 2014View listing
"We are first time Belizers who have now been converted to Believers. Before deciding to come to Belize with my wife and 13 year old daughter and 8 year old son, we thought about going to Costa Rica but decided against it because the range of options was a little too diverse for us to quickly decide about. We also considered Mexico because it's close but spent the last couple trips in Mexico and wanted something a bit different. Coming from Los,Angeles the flight is only 4:40 minutes and was very manageable, which is always a concern when traveling with kids. We arrived in Belize City and took a taxi to the water taxi, which was about an hour boat ride to Ambergriss Caye. We were met by the management company at the pier who then taxied us to the condo/complex and gave us a small tour. What attracted us to this spot, among other things, was that the place has three bedrooms. Since my son and daughter usually fight when they share a room, it was nice to have a place where they could each have their own room. The air conditioner in the apt. Is preset to 78 degrees which provides for a refreshing breeze when coming inside from the outside heat. The room has a nice view over the pool and of the Carribbean. My wife and I enjoyed sitting on the balcony and watching the kids swim and/or enjoying some coffee or a soda. The unit has a comfortable couch, which is the focal point of the unit and a nice tv with cable. In front of the unit, you will find some locals that sell fruits, cakes and things to eat from time to time. Otherwise, there Is a Convenience store right next door. The building is centrally located just blocks from the south north divide and bridge and movie theatre, which unfortunately only opens in weekends, on the south side. Father north, but within walking distance are all kinds of fun local shops. Also, lots of shops are on the beach and if you are a diver like me, there is a great dive shop just a couple of blocks away. The lodging on the island is a hodgepodge of upscale luxury resorts, diving resorts, private homes and for lack of a better word, shacks. August is supposedly the hurricane season, but we didn't see any hurricanes. August supposedly experiences more rain but even though the weather forecast predicted rain every day during our stay we didn't see any rain. There is really much more I can say but there is no room. All in all, had a great time and I am lamenting my return on this last day. Great, great time diving too."Guest: Bret L. Date of Stay: August 2014 Review Submitted: August 8, 2014View listing
