  • Best Family Vacation!

"As we pulled up to the dock upon arrival, our 10 year old daughter hugged me and said, "THANK YOU, MOMMY!! THANK YOU!!" That set the tone for our entire trip. My husband, 2 daughters (ages 10 and 7) and I had a great trip. We've stayed in quite a few VRBO houses (and co-own one as well!)--so we've seen the good and the not-so- good in our travels. We found this house to be absolutely beautiful. It is extremely well- maintained, the view is gorgeous and Martin and his wife are truly lovely people. There are so many different activities for families to do in Belize--and the house is located where you can easily do anything you'd like: arrange for a boat to take you snorkeling, jet ski, walk to the yoga retreat, swim in the beautiful pool, ride bikes down the beach or catch a water taxi into San Pedro. Some people wrote in their reviews about the inability to swim or go to the beach outside the house. That was really helpful to know and set your expectation accordingly. You are not going to walk out to the ocean and swim in front of the house--that's just not what this vacation is about. We didn't find any part of Belize to be about being on the beach and swimming. There are so many, many more fascinating ways to spend your time. And, the beauty of this house is the pool allows you to do a whole host of exhausting--yet really cool and unbelievable things during the day--and then have a relaxing swim in the evening. One thing we didn't do--but I'd like for one of the guests to try and report on for the rest of us!!--is have a cook come and prepare food at the house. There are a few good restaurants (the yoga retreat and Aji's) within walking distance--but it would be really helpful to hire someone to cook and not have to worry about it for a couple of meals. Thank you Debbie and Nick for letting our family experience the wonderful home you built. It was one of our best family vacations!"

  • The best casa on the island!

"First and foremost I want to say thank you to our host, Wolfgang and his grounds keeper Aiden. Wolfgang was easy and quick to correspond with upon booking and before our arrival. He answered all of our questions and was so helpful especially with suggesting places for excursions. He also had transportation waiting for us at the airport so we didn't have to worry about a thing! Once we arrived he already had goodies for us in the fridge and made suggestions for great restaurants, local spots to check out, and even took us on a short tour through town so we knew what to look for. The casita itself had everything we could ever need/want- full kitchen, AC, comfy furnishings, and much more. It was clean and spacious for me and my husband. We loved the shower too! The high windows let in the natural light and had beautiful views of the palms trees and foliage. Adien the grounds keeper worked so hard to make sure we had a nice and pristine beach everyday and even scooped out the seaweed from the water for us! As far as the island, it is very laid back and full of wonderful people. Everyone was friendly and it had a small town feel. Maria's fruit and veggie stand was the best place for inexpensive fresh fruit, veggies, and juices! The restaurants were great, but the local spots were much cheaper. Snorkeling at Hol Chan reserve and Shark Ray Alley is a must! Driving the golf carts were fun and an adventure in itself. It was the best way to get around the island. San Pedro will definitely be an annual spot for us! And we will be looking to stay at Casita Buena Vista for sure! You can't beat the location, the hospitality, and of course the wonderful amenities! Thanks, Wolfgang for making our short stay so amazing. I wish we had more time to explore... We look forward to next time :)"

  • Wonderful stay in Ambergris Caye!

"We just returned from our wonderful trip to Belize and I'm already missing it. This house was perfect for us and our two teenaged kids, a boy and a girl. Each bedroom has 2 Twin beds that can be separated or kept together as a King. Somehow the beds don't separate if you put them together, so there's no falling through the crack and the beds were very comfy. The views of the gorgeous turquoise colored water were amazing and we loved having our own dock to hang out on. This also made it easy for boats to come pick us up for excursions we booked. We did not rent a golf cart and I really don't think one is necessary. We would take the Coastal Express water taxi when we needed to get into town (only twice). The Mata Grande grocery store is an easy walk and although it's small they have all the basics you need. Next door to the grocery store is Aurora's restaurant. It has great breakfasts and lunch at a very reasonable price. The kitchen has pretty much everything you need, but I do wish it had a basic spice cupboard. Other than that, no complaints. The best part of our stay at Castillo de Arena was having William, the caretaker around. He was at the dock to greet us when our water taxi arrived and was so helpful in giving advice about the island. He showed our teenaged son how to spear fish which was the highlight of his trip and he also showed us the best spots to kayak out to and snorkel. On our second to last night William gave us an awesome coconut demonstration for his coconut rice recipe. He also barbecued some fish and lobster that the guys caught during their spear fishing adventures. We really enjoyed our stay at this house and look forward to returning again, hopefully next year!"

  • CAN'T WAIT TO GO BACK...

"Just spent a week in San Pedro at Sunset Beach #A6 and our stay couldn't have been any better. Condo unit was great with everything we needed. Great location as short distance away from town and felt secure and safe entire visit. Visited at low season and loved the timing with less traffic everywhere we went. Onsite caretaker was great and we saw him everyday on the property for anything we needed or questions we had. Notebook in the condo has lots of great info. Tour company across the street took such good care of us on the excursions we took while there (reef fishing, snorkeling, Mayan ruins and cave tubing), and their guides were top notch. Thanks so much! Tom & Julie"
