"My husband and I stayed for three weeks at the Blue Moon Cabana in Hopkins. We also stayed for one week in Baby Blue Moon. Mirko and Annett were great hosts....always being there to answer our questions and help us plan outings. Both cabanas are extremely comfortable with all the amenities one could ask for. Our favorite spot was sitting on the front porch, watching the sun rise, watching the waves break, or just watching the people wander by. Staying in the village of Hopkins was a unique experience. There is great contrast in the village, fancy new rental properties next door to simple local homes, backpackers hostels, small local restaurants serving Garifuna dishes (Tina's and Innes), and small shops selling Mayan crafts. On the outskirts of the village were resorts which offered a fancier fare (try Love On the Rocks). A tip of the hat to Patrick for two wonderful snorkeling trips and a nice cruise on the lagoon to see the bioluminescence (it was magic). We also toured Mayan Ruins, tubed down a river and in caves, hiked, and went swimming in waterfall pools. Would we visit Hopkins again? Probably not, but not because we didn't like it...we did. There are just too many other places that we haven't visited..."

  • THE PERFECT FIND

"I am not going to repeat the other detailed reviews that rave about this wonderful Villa... It's all true... Let me just state that Sally does EVERRYTHING to make sure that you enjoy your stay.. The communication was superb and, frankly, I abused her email hospitality by asking all sorts of general questions not related to the Villa. Because of Sally and her candid information, we were able to purchase a Villa on Ambergris Caye .. Sally; heartfelt thanks for being a mentor when we needed one. Again, I don't need to repeat all of the glowing praise for this Villa.... It's all true.. We "couldn't" have purchased another Villa so quickly without Sally's help. We were there in February 2015"

  • Love the boat, the location and staff

"Overall our family (boys ages 5,4 and 2) had an absolutely wonderful time and Casablanca is a lovely house. The Good: The boat: having unlimited access to a boat in an area with a coral reef, other islands and resorts to visit, and great fishing was beyond an added amenity. It made our trip. Brian and Alec: All of the service staff were excellent. They were attentive without being invasive and always tended to any issues without hesitation. Spearfishing at the reef with Brian was one of my personal favorite memories The location: I felt the location was perfect, but perhaps not for everybody. The house is about a 30 minute golf cart ride (5-10 minutes boat) down a bumpy trail to town. We all loved the little adventure. There were other resorts with walking distance as well. We highly endorse Rojo Lounge for eating or drinking. The kitchen and Great Room: The kitchen in the house is huge and the layout of open kitchen, dining room, living room, patio was great and very family friendly. The cleanliness: The staff did a great job of cleaning the house and doing our laundry. The lady who cooked for us the odd time also did a nice job with the meals and cooking the fish we caught! The dock: It was a great place for my boys to fish from. Plenty of time was spent out there! The Not-So-Good: Small things weren't maintained the best. Ceiling fans didn't work, light bulbs were out, the toilet seat was only fastened on one side. The DVD player never worked. Flatware and glassware were both well understocked. Old mattress -there are indents on both sides where people sleep. Should be replaced.Shower Heads -with no bathtub, Casablanca should offer shower heads that get you wet. No hammock: So many palm trees and no hammock? Really? The bad: The patio furniture: For such a nice property the patio furniture is not even close to adequate. Old, uncomfortable, plastic strap loungers from a discount warehouse. These need to be updated without question. Rooftop patio: Beautiful place to watch the sunset with not one piece of furniture. Dock palapa:Apparently the roof blew off during a hurricane years ago and they never replaced it. Looks terrible and would be nice to have more shade at the end of the dock. The Beach: Need to keep the beach free from the sea grass. Hadn't been touched in weeks on our arrival and it smelt awful I think a minimal capital investment by the ownership could bring the house in line with what they claim it to be and gain 5 stars from me."
