  • The best casa on the island!

"First and foremost I want to say thank you to our host, Wolfgang and his grounds keeper Aiden. Wolfgang was easy and quick to correspond with upon booking and before our arrival. He answered all of our questions and was so helpful especially with suggesting places for excursions. He also had transportation waiting for us at the airport so we didn't have to worry about a thing! Once we arrived he already had goodies for us in the fridge and made suggestions for great restaurants, local spots to check out, and even took us on a short tour through town so we knew what to look for. The casita itself had everything we could ever need/want- full kitchen, AC, comfy furnishings, and much more. It was clean and spacious for me and my husband. We loved the shower too! The high windows let in the natural light and had beautiful views of the palms trees and foliage. Adien the grounds keeper worked so hard to make sure we had a nice and pristine beach everyday and even scooped out the seaweed from the water for us! As far as the island, it is very laid back and full of wonderful people. Everyone was friendly and it had a small town feel. Maria's fruit and veggie stand was the best place for inexpensive fresh fruit, veggies, and juices! The restaurants were great, but the local spots were much cheaper. Snorkeling at Hol Chan reserve and Shark Ray Alley is a must! Driving the golf carts were fun and an adventure in itself. It was the best way to get around the island. San Pedro will definitely be an annual spot for us! And we will be looking to stay at Casita Buena Vista for sure! You can't beat the location, the hospitality, and of course the wonderful amenities! Thanks, Wolfgang for making our short stay so amazing. I wish we had more time to explore... We look forward to next time :)"

"Had an awesome 2 weeks in the lower 2 bedroom unit. Our rental contact, Elise, did a fantastic job keeping us happy and aware of what was available to us, and was constantly making sure we had clean towels and linens, and when we were away, she came in and cleaned from wall to wall. There is probably not a better spot on the island for its location; close to convenience stores, bakery, restaurants and retail shops, and away from traffic and crowds."

  • escape from winter

"Our stay in this beach house far exceeded our expectations in every regard! The owner has gone to great extent to ensure that you have all the comforts of home. He has thought of everything. The home is even more beautiful and luxurious than the pictures. It is clean and well-kept and has plenty of towels, linens, great appliances, and cook ware. It is a great location – private and peaceful. The beach and palapa are exquisite. Words just don’t do it justice. You truly feel like you’ve landed in paradise. We drove in from the airport in Belize City with very good directions from the owner with no trouble, although it’s best to do it in the daytime as there is a lot to see. A highlight for sure was the day spent fishing, diving, and visiting the Cayes with the guide. It was simply fantastic - something not to be missed. The bounty of fish, lobster, crab and conch we caught provided several 5 star meals!! There’s a great barbeque grill to use also. We used the owner’s excellent fishing gear and snorkeling equipment to explore the ocean right at the house and saw crab, conch, sand dollars, many varieties of fish, jelly fish, and ray of some kind! There is also a great stash of DVDs if you want to relax with a movie at the end of your day. There is a market and excellent bistro about ten minutes from the house and the charming village of Placencia is only a few miles further down the road. The Belizean people we met were delightful and helpful. Every aspect of our visit was perfect. We were sad to leave and will definitely be back someday"

  • Fantastic Vacation!

"This was absolutely one of the most amazing vacations we have ever taken...mainly due to the staff of Epi and Manuel, who are of Mayan heritage and very proud of it! Epi arranged a snorkeling trip with Patrick at the Sittee River Marina (1/2 mile away with a very nice restaurant), brought us back beer from town, and even washed our vehicle before we left! We rented a car from Belize City and drove the almost 3 hours to Hopkins. The main roads are paved, so the trip was relaxing and we were able to just take in the countryside. Epi greeted us and showed us to our unit, which is rather modest in American standards but completely adequate (stocked with everything we needed). As it turned out, we were the only guests there for the entire 8 days. Therefore, we were fortunate enough to really get to know the staff. Manuel is an official tour guide, so we went on 3 different excursions with him. We hiked Antelope Falls in Mayflower National Park (there is a pristine swimming hole at the TOP of the waterfall--the hike is strenuous, but worth it when you get there!). We drove to Xunantunich, which is a very impressive Mayan ruin. What's visible is amazing, but what's incredible is what's under your feet that's not yet been excavated. Then he took us to his home area of Punta Gorda. It's just a completely different area from Hopkins. He took us to swim in the river, and we witnessed 2 ladies doing their laundry in the river with rocks. It's fascinating and humbling! There are more restaurants than we could possibly eat at in the area. Tina's was the most authentic that we tried (had barracuda and gibnut!). We drove to Plancencia twice. This is a more "touresty" area, but a nice change of pace. Just make sure you find the "sidewalk" on the ocean side of the road. This is where a lot of the shops and restaurants are. My daughter is into geocaching, and we even found a geocache in Placencia! That made her trip. I was so sad for this vacation to end. We had fabulous weather and a fabulous time."
