  • Beautiful spot with beautiful people

"My husband and I and a couple good friends just returned from our trip to Belize. Our time in Placencia was perfect in every way. The Belize people are so friendly and happy, we loved being walking distance to all the shops and fruit/vegetable stands.. The restaurants are delicious, with prices being great! We hooked up with Alfred a few times and fell in love with him. He is a great guide with a heart for teaching you all things Belize. You must do the 1000 ft waterfall hike! We did it without a guide and were fine, though its an extreme hike using ropes at times to get up. We also did the zip line thats right by it, it was perfect to do the same day as the waterfall hike.. Cheaper to do those things without the tour I think. Hatchet Caye is a place to visit for snorkeling and lunch.. Its beautiful! We did the Monkey River with Alfred and had lunch in the village, we took candy for the kids and loved all the smiles! Our stay at Sunset Point was perfect. Helen, the owner is so helpful with information on anything you would want or need. Her place is decorated wonderful and we were all really comfortable staying there. The caretakers are super sweet and helpful. All in all the perfect vacation with life long friends met along the way."

"The first time I visited Amberfris Caye, I fell in love with it. Only missing one year in the past 18, I have stayed at numerous properties, and this one is by far the best! The apartmeat, view, location and managers - Jackie & Eloy Gonzalez (who, by the way is considered to be one of the best fishing guides on the island) cannot be topped. Any questions, desires, etc will be met with a happy smile and fulfillment to the best of their ability...which seems unlimited! I plan to keep visiting yearly, and have found my second 'home'. I would recommend this property to ANYONE. As an aside, in my opinion, the 'gentleman' from Tennessee must have had something else going on in his life as I understand he presented himself as quite happy with everything while he was there."

  • The best of Belize

"The Macaw Bank Jungle lodge is a once in a lifetime experience. If you are seeking a 5 star fancy resort, this is not the place for you. But if you are after extremely comfortable accommodations in a beautiful setting with gracious hosts, you can do not better than Macaw Bank. The owners Ron and Al are exceptional people with a unique blend of appreciation for the spectacular Belizean Cayo environment, culinary skills and exceptional friendliness. Following our 6 day stay at MBJL we spent a week on Glover's Reef, which was fantastic, but was not as memorable as our stay at MBJL. From the time of our arrival with rental car problems, Ron and Al were the most helpful and friendly people. While they do not run tours directly from their lodge, they will set up everything for you with other operators. During our stay we visited Caracol, ATM and El Pillar. Must confess while the sites were superb each day we were looking forward to our return to MBJL. The grounds have been exceptionally cultivated and are a beautiful example of lodge type landscaping blending with the natural environment. Kudos to Al on this one. The meals are fantastic. Ron and Al will cater to their guests dietary preferences and personally prepare awesome meals. They are probably a little over priced, but the convenience of dining right at the lodge plus conversing with Ron and Al and the other guests makes it more than worth it. We met some great folks while staying there. This type of place attracts quality people. Not much else to say, we hope to return soon."

  • Incredible sunrises; beautiful accommodations - A Perfect Vacation!

"A group of four were here in December and had a blast. The condo is lovely and fully stocked. The pool and the beach were both inviting and right out our front door. There are a couple of great restaurants and a great beach bar within walking distance that we enjoyed repeatedly, but we got a cart for our stay so we could shop and dine in town easily. Free cable TV and Internet were also available. Snorkeling tours and a Mayan Ruins trip left from our dock, so it was so easy to see and do everything we wanted to...booking was easy and Vicki was very responsive and accommodating."
