  • Beautiful and relaxing

"The villa was large and very clean! Modern features, and very spacious! Air conditioned, stainless steel appliances, dishwasher and in suite laundry make it feel like home away from home. Local art is displayed on the walls and can be found in town. The large balcony overlooking the clear aqua blue ocean is breathtaking and an amazing place to lounge, watch pelicans soar and have meals on. The balcony over looks the beach, the ocean, the beautiful pier at Turtle Inn and the pool. We made so many memories there such as snorkeling with wild dolphins, turtles, large sported eagle rays and sting rays; we cooked and ate our large ocean jack, barracuda, king mackerel, snappers, and Bonita; made friends with the locals and the residents; danced the night away for the Easter long weekend festivities in town; and experienced the local cuisine! Everyone is so friendly and welcoming there as well! Had a wonderful stay!"

  • Magical Vacation Rental

"We stayed at the Main Stay for a week, during the holidays. My boyfriend and I really found it romantic, magical and so accommodating. The staff is remarkable; everyone really makes you feel safe and really allows you to have a very relaxing stay. We had the beach all to ourselves and when shared with the other visitors, everyone was so welcoming & amazing. It still felt exclusive & private. We felt like we were with family on a grandeurs vacation. We cooked every morning on the outdoor grill found on the wrap around porch while listening to the sounds of the birds & drinking fresh coconuts, right of the tree. This place truly is very magical. For the price, it’s incredible how special, private, peaceful, and grand it is. There is a very expensive spa up the road that charges a ridiculous amount of money, but they do not have a private magical beach as we did, with inclusive use of canoes, kayaks & bikes. The Main Stay is “the” place to stay when heading for Belize. It is simple, and absolutely perfect, just as any vacation should be. We cannot wait to plan our next trip!"

  • Family Vacation

"Could not have been better. Karen and staff helpful and friendly. Swam each day off pier. Kayaks were fun and when we when we traveled way to far (all the way into town!) Karen sent the truck to pick us up. Safe. Secure. Tons of fun. 5 adults and we had tons of space and lots to do and see. Local food good and safe to eat. Women selling fresh bread in the evening in town--sweet bread the best. Fruit and veggie truck comes outside gate each Thurs afternoon with bargain prices. Watch the sunrise each am and wondered across the street to watch sunset in the evening. Belize Zoo very fun stop. Fish market in town is hidden so ask locals. "John the Bakerman" is a must for local tarts and yummy banana bread. Donna at the pier in Placencia (I think it is Night Winds Tours) has good prices. Enjoy!"

  • Beautiful house in lovely area of Belize

"We stayed at this fantastic house for a week in March 2015. It was a quick drive from the Placencia airport which is always a bonus. The rooms were all very large with ensuites and all beds were very comfortable. The living areas were huge with satellite tv and internet and could fit tons of people. The kitchen was fantastic and equipped with absolutely everything. The house has large areas of deck space and areas to relax if you need some quiet time. There is gated security and we always felt safe anywhere we went anyway. The pool area at the adjoining resort was beautiful and fairly quiet which was fantastic...never had to get there early to fight for a good spot. A tandem skydive school/jump site was right on the beach for anyone looking for extra thrills. Local restaurants are close and absolutely delicious and there is even a bowling alley just down the road. We were there with our two teenagers and absolutely enjoyed everything about our trip. I would highly recommend this great house to anyone."

Since it is a tropical destination, you can afford to pack quite light. The essentials are good sunscreen, sunglasses, a hat, comfortable shoes and your swimsuit. In general, the clothing is quite casual. Lightweight cotton shirts, shorts and skirts are most suitable for the climate. If you are planning on doing some nature walks or excursions, make sure you have a comfortable pair of walking shoes. Insect repellant is another essential. It’s advisable to wear long-sleeved shirts and long pants at night and on jungle tours to avoid getting bitten by mosquitoes. Leave valuables such as expensive jewelry at home. If you are keen photographer, pack an extra memory card as you are likely to take loads of photos.
