  • Honeymoon in Belize

"My (now) wife and I just back from our honeymoon in Placencia and we're already hoping to get back as quickly as we can! Placencia is definitely off the beaten path and it will take a little extra traveling to get there, but it's well worth it. The people are wonderful, the food excellent and you have the flexibility to either take it easy or go on an adventure with a tour agency (we went up to the ATM cave with Pirate's Point Adventure Tours and Shane was excellent) or book through Francisco, who works at the condo and can help arrange most tours if you ask him. If you go fishing and decide to keep your catch, a place called The Shak has a "you hook it, we cook it" option - unfortunately we found out about that too late, so weren't able to take advantage of it. The condo itself was excellent. It's a bit large for only two people, but that didn't detract from our stay. Having the pool on site was also a big plus. The condo is at the very end of the peninsula, which makes it an ideal location if you want a quiet place to stay. You do have the option to rent a bike or golf cart to get to and from the main part of the village; we walked most of the time and didn't have any issues. (If you're looking got do some inland adventures, most tour agencies can arrange transportation. Yes, you will pay for it, but it is worth it.) It's maybe a 5-10 minute walk and, even during the hottest part of the day, it wasn't unbearable. We are very happy that we stayed here and would recommend this location to anyone else looking to visit Placencia."

  • Four Great Weeks at Maya Lodge

"My wife and I just spent half of February and half of March at Maya Lodge, a full four weeks and enjoyed every minute of it. We spent a lot of time just enjoying the warm to hot temperatures and enjoying the local food both at restaurants and home cooked at Maya Lodge from local fresh fruit and vegetable markets. Maya Lodge is an excellent base for going off on adventures. We did the Monkey River tour seeing three crocodiles, three manatees, a bunch of howler monkeys, and lots of birds. We did the day tour to see the Mayan Ruins at Xunantunich, well worth it. We also rented a "golf cart" for a day to explore the Peninsula itself. Attending the Volunteer Fire Department's Flaming Hearts Ball was indeed a ball with good music and food to be sampled from all of the local eateries. Staying at Maya Lodge makes everything else easy and enjoyable with it's spaciousness, fully equipped kitchen, and comfortable sleeping. The Lodge is within easy walking distance to everything one needs. Stefano, the local property manager is helpful whenever needed (for us only rarely). This is our third stay in Maya Lodge. It is truly our home-away-from home in Placencia."

  • One of the most peaceful locations in Placencia

"We have been to Placencia many, many times, and this was our first time staying at Sunset Pointe. We were very pleasantly surprised at how nice the area was, and the accommodations were perfect for my wife and I, my wife's parents, and our 2 young children. Great views from the crow's nest, great pool for the kids, easy (and frequent) use of the bikes and kayaks. We ate outside on the front porch for every meal. Just a short bike ride or walk into the village, but far enough away to not have any noise. I would definitely consider staying here again on our next visit."

  • Fabulous condo in Placencia

"My family stayed in this beautiful condo for a week. It was perfect. When we were not diving, snorkeling, hiking to waterfalls in Jaguar country, we would lounge by the pool, jumping in every 10 minutes to cool off or to just play around with the kids. We had been traveling for a week and a half prior and were pleased to find a beautiful kitchen, plenty of stores, fish market and produce stands in town a quick cab ride away. We rode the bikes or walked into town easily. The property was dreamy. I felt like we walked into paradise with fresh flowers everywhere. The other residents/guests were so friendly and helpful."
