"The condo was as described and was overall what we expected. It was just enough room. The master bedroom was very spacious, but the living area and other bedroom were a bit cramped for us. We had 5 adults and 2 kids and 1 baby. Our kids were scared to sleep in the loft as it was soo high and dark, but they enjoyed playing there during the day. I was pleased with the view and the niceness of the place, but there were a few things that 'bugged' us. It's in the details. There were 2 door handles that were faulty, one on the 2nd bdrm and the other on the main bathroom. This made privacy a bit of an issue. We did tell the caretaker. He said he would fix it the next day, but he never came by to actually do so. The caretakers were great with everything else though. They set up excursions with Alfred (who is wonderful btw) and hooked us up with a great taxi driver, Walter (highly recommended). Rosa (caretaker's wife) watched our kids in the pool for us a couple of afternoons. Their kids were great at including our kids in activities and playing with them. Back to the condo, the beds were very hard and uncomfortable. The best one in the condo was the pullout sofa. The coffee maker was sketchy. It would work sometimes when it felt like it. The rest of the condo was great. The showers were hot, the a/c worked wonderful, and the pool/grounds were beautiful. My father-in-law loved the crow's nest (except for the raccoon poop) and the dock by the ocean. We all enjoyed snorkeling off the dock (easy access) in the ocean. It is sea grass, but we saw some small barracuda and tiny bait fish. We also discovered coral hiding among the sea grass. It was great to introduce our kids to their first time snorkeling. We saw lots of the other cabanas and 'hotels'. We picked the right place and the best place to stay! I hope the caretakers and owner fix the little inconveniences to make the place absolutely perfect. It also would have been nice to know that it is on the second floor as my mother-in-law has a hard time with stairs, but we managed."Guest: Julia Date of Stay: May 2014 Review Submitted: May 27, 2014View listing
"I've been to this resort three times in the last 10 years. The last time here at Christmas 2012 was the best. We went as a large group--'family vacation'. My family stayed in this unit and it really is one of the best on the property. Right ON the beach and with direct access out the front door of the condo! Also, its located on a quiet part of the resort--but still very close (1 min) to the main building where the bar/restauarnt is located. The condo is very comfortable and decorated authentically to the country/Region. Robert's Grove has upgraded several areas making it more attractive. The onsite restaurant offers great breakfasts, lunch and dinner and it's a fun and intimate spot to have a 6 pm cocktail at the bar before dinner! The second restaurant is Mexican and is also great! The resort can set up many tours including Monkey River, fishing and so on. We had a fantastic family vacation here--it's perfect for a large group or for some 'down time' as a couple. The bonus is that the town of Placencia is only 4 miles away and you can rent bikes (or get a taxi) to ride to town for shopping and other eating spots. We will be going back to Belize and to this spot!"Guest: Gina Date of Stay: March 2014 Review Submitted: March 25, 2014View listing
"My family stayed in this beautiful condo for a week. It was perfect. When we were not diving, snorkeling, hiking to waterfalls in Jaguar country, we would lounge by the pool, jumping in every 10 minutes to cool off or to just play around with the kids. We had been traveling for a week and a half prior and were pleased to find a beautiful kitchen, plenty of stores, fish market and produce stands in town a quick cab ride away. We rode the bikes or walked into town easily. The property was dreamy. I felt like we walked into paradise with fresh flowers everywhere. The other residents/guests were so friendly and helpful."Guest: Mindee G. Date of Stay: March 2014 Review Submitted: April 10, 2014View listing
"We stayed at The Maine Stay for almost 2 weeks and had the best vacation ever! Every morning we watched the sun rise over the Caribbean Sea and set over the lagoon across the way. The owner, Karen and her staff provided everything you could possibly need. They even got us some fresh coconuts one evening. We felt safe and knew that there was always security on site. Every morning the beach is raked smooth and beautiful. We spent many enjoyable hours watching the water and the birds from our beachfront lounge chairs. Karen met us just as we arrived and filled us in on great restaurants and places to see. The cabanas were better stocked than my own kitcen. The Maine Stay has lots of canoes, kayaks, bikes, and fun for free. The people of Belize were extreamly friendly and kind. The food is so delicious and cheap. We rented a car from Belize City, spent time in San Ignosio and drove down to Placencia. The beach was our favorite stay and The Maine Stay was fabulous! I'm ready to go back!"Guest: denise d.
