  • Absolultely wonderful property

"Our stay the Villa Tipsy Gecko was fantastic. The property is beautiful and very well maintained. It was like staying at our own personal resort. The bedrooms are spacious and the bathrooms like spas. The ability to walk out the back door and have access to a private pool and beach was wonderful. We took full advantage of the kayaks and paddle boards. The support staff were outstanding. They were efficient and unobtrusive. They were both very friendly and always helpful. They really are a treasure and the property management should be grateful for such conscientious employees. Chef Domingo was also wonderful and if we could take him home with us we would. It was such a treat to have someone cook meals for us. Access to the golf cart allowed us to get groceries and to go bowling and have meals at Mango's and Mayan beach resort. Both wonderful. We did not miss having a car at all because we booked our excursions thru a company in Placenia - I think the name was Pirates cove - run by Shane and Rosario. They picked us up at the house for the Mayan ruin tours and by boat on the lagoon side for the snorkeling and Monkey River excursions. All in all our stay at the Tipsy Gecko was everything we hoped for and more. A vacation we will never forget. I would highly recommend this property for anyone looking to vacation in Belize. You won't be disappointed."

  • Belize is UnBelizeable

"Our stay at Harbour Hideaway was the best. Jim and Cindy made us feel like family. Their studio was perfect for what we needed. They had everything: beach towels, kayaks and they even borrowed an extra bike from a friend so our whole family could have one. They were very thoughtful. It is in a great location and it is very clean. Our vacation will be remember for always."

  • Beautiful location

"This is lovely main floor condo unit located in the centre of the complex. The pool was 30 steps away and the ocean was about 60 steps. The unit is very spacious and very nicely decorated. We were with another couple and found the unit plenty big for all of us. Lots of room in the dining area and in the living room. Very nice covered veranda had a table with six chairs along with two lounge chairs. Nice pool with a little in water sit up bar area. You can walk out on to the beach and walk all the way to downtown Placencia, which is shorter than using the road and whole lot cooler. You need some form of transportation to get into Placencia as it is at least a mile away. Golf cart rentals are available. We had a car rental as we drove in from Belize city, which by the way was a scenic drive and well worth it (3 1/2 hours and you want do it in daylight). It was nice to have a vehicle to visit sites that were further away like the coskscomb reserve and mayan ruins. Overall loved the place and was one of the nicest places in Placencia. We highly recommend it."

  • The best family vacation ever!

"HI, We were in Belize for 2 weeks in August we had the best time ever. Villa is just amazing fully equipped and beautiful. Swimming pool was just refreshing and having the palapa with the hammock was my highlight of the trip...just relaxing. My 2 girls 9 and 12 just loved hanging out in the pool and making sand castles on our private beach that was cleaned up every day. Listening to the waves at night from the bedroom was my god soooo relaxing :) I really recommend taking Alrin for a tour guide we did Monkey River and Snorkeling/fishing both days were just perfect. We did some hiking, visited chocolate and banana plantation, zipline, cave tubing, ATM cave... Belize was just the perfect family vacation. August was a perfect month beautiful weather and less tourist! Food in Belize is just WOW!!! Thank you Yvonne and David for your recommendations and renting out your Villa this was the best family trip ever!"

Since it is a tropical destination, you can afford to pack quite light. The essentials are good sunscreen, sunglasses, a hat, comfortable shoes and your swimsuit. In general, the clothing is quite casual. Lightweight cotton shirts, shorts and skirts are most suitable for the climate. If you are planning on doing some nature walks or excursions, make sure you have a comfortable pair of walking shoes. Insect repellant is another essential. It’s advisable to wear long-sleeved shirts and long pants at night and on jungle tours to avoid getting bitten by mosquitoes. Leave valuables such as expensive jewelry at home. If you are keen photographer, pack an extra memory card as you are likely to take loads of photos.
