"We (a cold Alaskan couple and a chilled Minnesota couple) had a great stay in the upstairs apartment at Casa Caracol! Phil came through with all the things he advertised. He had kayaks for us to use and we had a blast kayaking. My brother and I used them to go out to the reef. It was fun and we found muscles we hadn't used in a while (although, I think I pulled a fat instead of a muscle). Phil also set us up with a day of fishing, a wonderful boat trip to the Mayan Ruins, and a great half day of snorkeling at Hol Chan and Shark and Ray Alley. The rental is walking distance to a well stocked grocery, fresh produce stands, a wonder full bakery, and all the local shopping you want.
The upstairs was perfect for the four of us. Two bedroom each with their own bathrooms with showers. A beautiful well stocked kitchen which we used a ton. The deck has a great view of the reef and is a great place to relax no matter what part of the day it is. He has a housekeeper come in every couple days and she does an amazing job!!! It was so nice having a week to not worry about anything and just relax.
We had a wonderful time and Phil took all the details out of it for us. At the end of our stay, we had one credit card bill to him which included all the day excursions he booked for us and he didn't add on penny for his time and effort to set them up. He is a great guy and was wonderful to work with. We recommend him and Casa Caracol highly."

"There was a group of 12 of us coming from different places and everyone had a great time at the house. First, I think the place itself was probably a little nicer than the pics - very spacious, lots of bedrooms for different couples/families, etc.. So it worked out well for multiple families. I think location is nice as well since its on the southside which is generally quieter.
What made the trip very enjoyable for us was Eddie & Ralph. They were with us whenever we needed them and helped us plan out our activities and was patient with the different opinions from the varying group members. Eddie and George were able to do a personalized snorkel/dive trip that accommodated all of the swim levels which was nice. Eddie also helped us immensely with all the basics (golf carts, groceries, etc..).
We had one of the A/Cs go out in one of the rooms and Ralph spent 1/2 a day with an electrician making sure it was working for us the next night. Very awesome! Eddie - thanks again for all the help; we really enjoyed our trip.
Probably the only downside was that there was no beachfront to walk on or place to swim in the ocean (very dirty/seaweed heavy, etc..). I think most places on the island are like that, but it would have been nice to be able to swim.
Definitely highly recommend the place for larger groups and"

"We stayed at the Harbour Hideaway for four nights the first week in June. Jim picked us up at the airport and gave us a tour of the small town of Placencia. The pictures of the studio apt don't do it justice. It's much larger with a great view of the dock and canal behind it. The property is full of beautiful landscaping with a large mango tree which was full of ready to eat mango's. Included in the rental were bikes, which is all you need for transportation, and kayaks we used every day to explore the canals and mangroves. The view from the 3rd story lookout is spectacular! Cindy worked most of the time but Jim was available for anything we needed. We also learned a lot about the area, over a few beers, and the difficulties of building a home in a different country. We highly recommend the Harbour Hideaway and want to thank Jim & Cindy for the great time. S&C"

"We had an incredibly relaxing and enjoyable week at Barnacle Bills. We spent most of our time eating, drinking and hanging out under our very own beach huts. Some great restaurants, bars and a bowling alley within walking distance. The way the bungalos are built make for a perfect breeze flowing through the house. Not to mention waking up to the gorgeous sunrise. We enjoyed our daily morning coffees chatting with Bill. Bill and Adriane were very helpful hosts and we hope to go back!"
