  • Great house and great location

"The house seems very new and is in a great location just south of Hopkins. It is an easy walk to Barracuda Grill and some other things, but we always drove if going to Hopkins or the marina. Janette (on-site contact) was very helpful with anything about the house and with booking activities. Our family of 5 fit just fine with 1 kid using the provided air mattress. The beach is right out the back door and is beautiful. We had a lot of cooler weather and rain, but still got to enjoy it every day. We were attacked by bugs one evening at the marina, and at a waterfall in bocawina, but never noticed any bugs on the beach by the house."

  • Beautiful Belize

"Excellent and friendly welcome with a detailed and thought through guide on how to get there. House exactly as described and better. Beautiful location with everything you would need. Beach close by and with the chairs and kayak provided gave a relaxing holiday. Surrounding area provided the house within a safe and picturesque setting."

  • Casa Caracol Stay

"Our group of 3 couples stayed in the downstairs apartment of Casa Caracol November 21-Nov 29. It was our first trip to Belize, and Ambergris Caye. Phil was very responsive to my emails during the months leading up to our visit. We had him book our flights from Belize City to San Pedro. He met us at the San Pedro airport as promised, and upon our arrival at the house he went over things we should know, which was very helpful. If you listen to his instructions you should have no problems. The house was very clean and inviting, and had everything we needed. We did not do any cooking, as many restaurants and roadside stands were inexpensive, easy and close. We were surprised to see golf carts and other vehicles driving on the beach in front of the house, though it really did not cause any problems for us. The bar next door was really nice... good food and cold beers at reasonable prices. It did get a little loud at night sometimes, so be aware if you are a light sleeper. We used the 2 person kayak and Phil gave us some important instructions before we went to insure our safety. Phil arranged a snorkel trip for us that was fantastic! He also arranged for golf carts when we were ready. He accumulated those charges and we paid him at the end of our stay, which was convenient. He was very responsive to any questions or anything we needed during our stay. We had a lot of fun exploring and riding around on our golf carts. The beach was not the best for lounging, though that didn't stop us ;). We floated in our rafts right in front of the house, and there are lots of creatures to be found in the sea grasses. The locals are very friendly and helpful."

  • Fantastic Vacation!

"This was absolutely one of the most amazing vacations we have ever taken...mainly due to the staff of Epi and Manuel, who are of Mayan heritage and very proud of it! Epi arranged a snorkeling trip with Patrick at the Sittee River Marina (1/2 mile away with a very nice restaurant), brought us back beer from town, and even washed our vehicle before we left! We rented a car from Belize City and drove the almost 3 hours to Hopkins. The main roads are paved, so the trip was relaxing and we were able to just take in the countryside. Epi greeted us and showed us to our unit, which is rather modest in American standards but completely adequate (stocked with everything we needed). As it turned out, we were the only guests there for the entire 8 days. Therefore, we were fortunate enough to really get to know the staff. Manuel is an official tour guide, so we went on 3 different excursions with him. We hiked Antelope Falls in Mayflower National Park (there is a pristine swimming hole at the TOP of the waterfall--the hike is strenuous, but worth it when you get there!). We drove to Xunantunich, which is a very impressive Mayan ruin. What's visible is amazing, but what's incredible is what's under your feet that's not yet been excavated. Then he took us to his home area of Punta Gorda. It's just a completely different area from Hopkins. He took us to swim in the river, and we witnessed 2 ladies doing their laundry in the river with rocks. It's fascinating and humbling! There are more restaurants than we could possibly eat at in the area. Tina's was the most authentic that we tried (had barracuda and gibnut!). We drove to Plancencia twice. This is a more "touresty" area, but a nice change of pace. Just make sure you find the "sidewalk" on the ocean side of the road. This is where a lot of the shops and restaurants are. My daughter is into geocaching, and we even found a geocache in Placencia! That made her trip. I was so sad for this vacation to end. We had fabulous weather and a fabulous time."
