  • Very relaxing week

"My wife and I were looking for a quite, relaxing week and we couldn't have picked a better destination. The peacefulness of Maya Beach and the comfort of the house could not be beat. Ivy, at the local market, was very friendly, as were all the people we met. Fred and Jacque, the property manager who live next door, were very helpful and made our stay very enjoyable. We highly recommend Reva's Pearl for anyone who wants to unwind."

  • Aaaahhhhh, Paradise!

"Oh we did arrive in Paradise! What a fantastic home away from home the four of us just experienced staying at Grand Caribe. Such a beautiful condo! Once at the resort, check in was a breeze, just like the beautiful tropical breeze you always feel while at Grand Caribe. The condo itself it so beautiful. I love the ocean, so this was a perfect condo for me. The decorating is so well thought out and detailed. Just a beautiful ocean feel condo; from the artwork, the photos, the seashells, etc. And the view is to die for; you have the pool and ocean right out your windows. Such a magical feeling when you walked in. The “Nancification” in this condo is magnificent! When we awoke, WOW, is all we could say with the view of the Grand Caribe grounds, the pool, the ocean, it was just great to sit back and take it all in from the patio. After breakfast at the wonderful restaurant on the beach (walking distance) “Aji” we of course had to check out the pool at the Grand Caribe. Beautiful pool with swim up bar. The staff at Grand Caribe couldn’t be more pleasant. They knew you by first name after the first day. Everyone on the island is so very friendly. There was plenty to do right from the resort. The owner and staff at the resort, gave us such great tips of things to do while we were there, it made it so simple to sit back and just enjoy! We went fishing, snorkeling at Hol Chan one day (highly recommend this), went on a sunset cruise, and took an aerial tour of the Blue Hole. AlAll were outstanding excursions. As far as just some of the restaurants we had time to check out were right up the beach at Aji, Lazy Croc, and one of our favorites, the Palapa Bar out over the ocean with inner tubes to relax in while you are enjoying your favorite beverage. The island is definitely on island time, which is perfect for you while on vacation. So if you are looking for a great vacation home to kick back and relax, or have an excursion booked every day during your stay, you are coming to the right place. You can be as busy as you want or as lazy as you want. You “better Belize” you will definitely not be disappointed in booking this beautiful condo. The Grand CaCaribe is also just opening a new building that holds a rooftop lounge and 5 star restaurant. So don’t wait or wonder any longer, book this condo as soon as possible so you too can enjoy the beautiful island of San Pedro and this amazing condo at this beautiful resort."

"What a place!!! Great for diving, long walks on the beach, visit to local restaurants, or just relaxing by the pool. The caretakers (Victor, Naomi and family) were very helpful and friendly. We'll be back."

  • Amazing Beachfront Cabanas

"We stayed at The Maine Stay for almost 2 weeks and had the best vacation ever! Every morning we watched the sun rise over the Caribbean Sea and set over the lagoon across the way. The owner, Karen and her staff provided everything you could possibly need. They even got us some fresh coconuts one evening. We felt safe and knew that there was always security on site. Every morning the beach is raked smooth and beautiful. We spent many enjoyable hours watching the water and the birds from our beachfront lounge chairs. Karen met us just as we arrived and filled us in on great restaurants and places to see. The cabanas were better stocked than my own kitcen. The Maine Stay has lots of canoes, kayaks, bikes, and fun for free. The people of Belize were extreamly friendly and kind. The food is so delicious and cheap. We rented a car from Belize City, spent time in San Ignosio and drove down to Placencia. The beach was our favorite stay and The Maine Stay was fabulous! I'm ready to go back!"

Belize Travel Tips

Looking for a getaway to unplug, reconnect and relax under the warmth of the sun? You'll find it all in Belize. This Caribbean locale is idyllic for all, from adventure seekers to nature lovers and everyone in between.

Whether you're looking to explore Mayan ruins and hike along rigorous trails or you can't wait to visit the local museums and experience traditional flavors each time you dine, Belize is sure to be a vacation spot you won't soon forget.

With its amazing, warm climate, you'll want to spend as much time outdoors as you can, and Belize features a host of national parks and wildlife sanctuaries to explore. You can see more than 500 species of birds as well as monkeys, crocodiles, lizards and other native creatures. There's also plenty of space to hike or bike and beaches to relax on. Belize is also an excellent spot to learn about history, as it was home to one of the world's most mysterious civilizations - the Mayans.

Things to Do in Belize

- Belize Barrier Reef: Explore the world under the sea at the Belize Barrier Reef, which is the second longest in the world. It's home to more than 100 types of coral and 500 species of fish, making it a huge attraction in Belize. Plan a snorkeling adventure to swim through the gloriously turquoise waters as you marvel at the cornucopia of life below the surface. As you get deeper, you can even check out underwater caves and walls, as well as the famous Blue Hole. On the surface, you can take out a kayak and paddle around from one islet to another, try windsurfing or simply lounge in the sound, listening to the relaxing sounds of the water.

- Altun Ha: Altun Ha is the most popular Mayan ruin to visit and easily accessible from Belize City. Here you'll find temples all around that provide plenty of information on the history of the Mayan culture. For 25 square miles, you'll be surrounded by forests and vegetation as you explore. In the Temple of the Masonry Altars, which is the largest, you'll find a jade replica of a Mayan sun god. This temple was used for religious rites and activities, and there's evidence of bloodletting and ceremonial sacrifices. The Temple of the Green Tomb is known for being a place where a Mayan priest-king made his funeral chamber, and it was found filled with treasures and offerings. It's called the green tomb because 300 jade pieces were discovered there.

- Museum of Belize: History buffs will love a visit to the Museum of Belize, which collects, preserves and displays objects with artistic, historical and scientific interest. You'll have the chance to see Belize's earliest stamp depicting Queen Victoria from 1937, a preserved jail cell and inmate, a Buenavista vase depicting the mythical Mayan hero twins doing a victory dance over the Lords of Xibalba and much more about the past and culture of the area.

- Xunantunich: This ancient archeological site is situated atop a ridge over the Mopan River. Xunantunich, which means stone woman in the Mayan language, is a major center for ceremonies that you can tour. It's accessible by ferry daily, and its name refers to a ghost woman many people have claimed to see who continues to haunt. She's said to be dressed all in white, but her most noticeable feature are her fire-red, glowing eyes. She's been known to appear in front of El Castillo, climbs the impressive stone staircase, then disappears into a wall. Take a tour here to see her for yourself!

Dining in Belize

- Riverside Tavern: One of Belize's most popular dining locations is Riverside Tavern, where you can enjoy a meal both indoors and outdoors. Steaks are a specialty here, but there ribs are just as tasty. For something a little lighter try the seared tuna, coconut or jerk shrimp, or grilled snapper. It's a laid-back sort of place, but after dark, shorts, sleeveless shirts and sandals are discouraged. So, put on your nicer dinner attire and treat yourself to a lovely meal overlooking Haulover Creek.

- Bird's Isle: Another favorite dining destination in Belize is Bird's Isle in Belize City. Step inside and it will feel like an oasis that locals and visitors alike enjoy. Sip on fresh-squeezed juice in the morning or a cold beer later in the day as you sample a stellar burger or snacks like conch fritters. Thursday nights there's karaoke, so warm up those vocal chords and get ready to belt out your favorite tune. Some nights there's also live music, so wear your dancing shoes just in case.
