For those with a historical interest, stop in at the Bermuda Maritime Museum and Commissioner’s House. You browse exhibits on ancient maritime navigation, the whaling industry, treasures from the sea and other interesting artifacts.

The Commissioners House is unique in design as well. The house is believed to be the first large cast iron building in the world, and the first building on the dockyard. It was mostly prefabricated and then joined together on site. The building has magnificent views over the bay and is luxuriously furnished. The banquet rooms are often hired out for events. More island treasures include the Crystal and Fantasy caves. These caves house magnificent stalactites and stalagmites, and large turquoise lagoons. Daily tours are conducted through the caves.

Getting to Bermuda Resort Rentals

Bermuda is easily accessible from the major eastern cities in the United States. The flights from New York City or Boston take approximately two hours. There are regularly scheduled flights from these two cities as well as from Washington DC, Atlanta, Miami, Baltimore and Toronto. If traveling from Europe, there are daily direct flights from London Gatwick Airport. Alternative ways of getting to Bermuda include by cruise ship or private yacht. There are many cruises from New York and Boston that stop in Bermuda en route to Europe. Private yachts stopping in Bermuda need to follow the proper immigration procedures and check in with port control upon arrival.
