  • Paradise!

"We had an absolutely amazing experience at the Coach House and plan to go back. I was pleasantly surprise by the privacy of the yard. My toddler loved walking in the "jungle" and looking for lizards and birds. The house itself is adorable and modern -- the layout is perfect and it is very spacious and open. The proximity to the post office (for bus passes), pharmacy, bus stop, grocery stores and a couple of restaurant is great. Though, it might be nice to have a cheap bicycle with basket on the property for quick runs to to the grocery store. Just a suggestion for next time :) The private beach is nice for a quick dip and we were even vistied by two sea turtles there! As far as activites, we went to the Dockyards -- Storkle Beach was a good place to take a toddler or young children (though, there are plenty of other options if you are more flexible), visited the aquarium/zoo which is a bit of hike by bus with a toddler but a great place to visit (suggest Rustico for lunch or dinner if you are out that way), Horseshoe Bay (a bit too touristy but has amenities), and Church Bay (our absolute favorite beach, but you need to time it just right with the tide because much of the beach vanishes). Also, loved visiting the little pharmacy in Somerset-- has a great selection of toys/books for youngsters. Beth provided a lot of great tips and was very organized. Great experience all around!"

  • Incredible

"Our experience was to celebrate our anniversary with our grown children and their wives in a private yet beautiful setting where we could relax in style and comfort. This setting exceeded our expectations, and we all felt as though the photographs, while exquisite, still did not do the house and grounds justice. The inside of the home is so tastefully appointed and impeccably kept, as well as the grounds, without feeling stuffy or over done. The kitchen was equipped with everything necessary for cooking all meals in the house or on the grill. We were hard pressed to even leave Skylark. We utilized every opportunity available to us; kayaking, turtle watching, ocean swimming and snorkeling. Everything the previous reviews say rings true, right down to Tina's willingness to assist whenever necessary to make for an exceptional Bermudian experience, and Mr. Bean's personal help to and from the airport. We had a snafu with 2 of our travelers in that they had to delay their plans unexpectedly by 2 days and they still felt as though they had full experience. One additional experience we had was to go reef fishing with Michael Baxter out of Somerset with whom we caught a variety of fish that fed this hungry crowd for many meals. Taking the bus at the end of Wreck road to Horseshoe Bay was easy and entertaining and allowed for additional sightseeing. We also took a ferry from The Dock Yard to Hamilton for some shopping fun. The views from every room are just perfect! You just can't stop staring at the beauty that surrounds you, the hues are unbelievable, and it doesn't end with a beautiful sunset every night, for stargazing is amazing as you are in such a wonderfully remote location. It is a wonderful place to connect with family, nature, time, fun and yourself. Enjoy your experience as much as we did ours. Can't wait to return. Thank you Tina, you have created just what we wanted. Next time we'd like to visit longer with you! Oh, my daughter said to say that Skylark is "easy and breezy"."

  • A Glorious Home Away From Home

"We just returned from having an extraordinary stay at Gemstons. There is not enough I can say about this rental. The home itself is wonderful. Very roomy, well appointed, clean and well maintained. There are lots of great sitting spaces (great nook in the kitchen, beautiful living and dinning rooms), wonderful views abound, and great outdoor spaces with a balcony off the living room (where we has our morning coffee and breakfast), off the master bedroom (a beautiful space for early morning viewing of the sun rise or a late night cap and relaxing prior to turning in to the sounds of the waves). There is also a fantastic large deck with a BBQ where we cooked up a storm and ate under the stars. Simply glorious. The location is fantastic. Southhampton was our favourite parish and you are close to many things and public transportation is very convenient from the house. The view and the access to a private beach are two of the most fantastic things about this location. You look out on two beautiful beaches and bays, it is very private and essentially we had one beach to ourselves. Great place to catch some sun, swim and snorkel, right in your front yard. Could not be better. If all this was not good enough there are the people. At Gemstones you become part of an extended family. Lorna (who owns the property with Gregg who was off the island at the time of our visit) could not have been lovelier. Very friendly, informative and super helpful. She went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and to assist us in so many ways. There could be no better hospitality. Her mother -in -law Shirley is a cab driver and before we got to the island had contacted us to make sure our transpiration needs form the airport to the home were taken care of. She also made herself available as needed to accommodate any taxi needs we had. And then there was Norris. Norris is a character who lives at the bottom of the hill. He is available in his little car to take you around as you may need on a pay as you feel appropriate basis. He was a great resource for trips to the grocery store or on those days when you wanted to skip the bus and get somewhere a little quicker. He is quite a character and will fill you with stories. Staying at this residence is indeed like a glorious home away from home. We felt so comfortable and welcome and could not believe the good fortune of the beauty of the home and surroundings. We would come back in a heartbeat!"

  • Fantastic Holiday

"We had a fantastic family holiday in Bermuda staying at Freshwinds. Debbie and Nathan were brilliant hosts and helped us sort out transfers to the house with Cal. The house was clean, well furnished and stocked with basic essentails (washing up liquid, soap, toilet rolls etc..) Cal even did a basic shop for us to get us through the first night as our flight was delayed. The house is well positioned for exploring the whole island...the only down side is that the local bus( route 4) finishes to Spanish point at 6pm but you can hire scooters or use taxis. We loved exploring the Lighthouse, Horseshoe Bay beach, the Railway walking trail but especially going out on Ana Luna Nathan's catamaran...fantastic!! The bus stop is 2 minutes walk away and a local convenience store only 10 minutes. All in all.... a great holiday, on a fantastic island in a lovely house."
