Recent Bonaire reviews

  • An exceptional Bonaire experience!

"We have been to Bonaire to dive several times over the past 10 years. We always vacation in a condo with an ocean view and have stayed in some lovely units. LHB5 was definitely the best! The ocean view cannot be beat and the beach is quiet and beautiful. The condo included everything for which we could possible ask- plenty of towels, full kitchen, deck chairs, television with DVDs. (We watched “Children of the Wind”, a documentary about native World Champion windsurfing kids, included in the condo library. It was incredibly inspiring!) Needless to say, we had plenty of time to relax and enjoy our wonderful 2 weeks. We can not say enough kind words about the property. We just absolutely love it. Thank you for opening your home to us, we appreciate it and hope to return soon."

  • Another wonderful 2 weeks at Beachcomber Villas 23Aug2014-06Sept2014.

"We dove. We ate. We sat on the terrace for sundowners. Yet again, we loved our stay at BCV. This time we had our daughter and new son-in-law with us, so we occupied both apartments. Beachcomber Villas is as described in all the preceding reviews. All of them are true. As one would expect, the place is clean and secure, the towels soft, the hot water hot, A/C works, kitchen fully equipped, the beds comfortable, and on and on. It is no mean feat to accomplish this on a small island, and takes a lot of hard work to keep it so. Tim and Leanne do that work when you’re not looking. Make no mistake: BCV is a special place, and it is special because of Leanne and Tim. They are two of the kindest, most gracious and considerate people you could ever hope to meet. I wonder when they have a life. Seems like they always turn up when you might need a hand, or just to perform some small act of kindness, whether it is seeing us off in the morning (with rinse water in the back of the truck) or meeting us returning from a day of diving. We’re usually pretty self-maintaining on Bonaire, but this time we left it in Leanne’s capable hands to deal with restaurant reservations, dive classes for daughter/SIL, and other activities. Everything went off like clockwork. Tim was a bit banged up this time, with injuries to his arm/shoulder. I still couldn’t convince him to leave the equipment to me and Matt. We told him to “stop it” and he said it was his job to make our vacation as enjoyable as possible, in every way. We were talking one evening about future trips to Bonaire. M & C being youngsters just starting out, I pointed out that there were many places to stay on Bonaire, some all-inclusive, at all sorts of prices that might make the trip more economical for them. He said “Yeah, but they don’t have Tim and Leanne.” I guess that sort of sums it up. Thank you, Tim & Leanne, for sharing your home with us. Brad & Sheldon Matt & Chappell"

  • A vacation home with all the amenities

"I stayed for one week at this gorgeous property. It was situated with an unmatched and unrivalled view of Kline Bonaire that literally took my breath away. The owner took time and passion to ensure that the property was flawlessly prepared for renters. It had every necessity I could have needed, and more. When I arrived, there was a complimentary bottle of Malbec provided, information about the island, and a relaxing open condo with two bedrooms, A/C, giant glass sliding doors that opened completely to a breathtaking view of the ocean, a fully furnished kitchen, and relaxing living room complete with flat screen TV, wifi, and upgraded cable programming (not that you will use the TV when you can sit out on the enormous covered back patio directly looking over the ocean and Kline Bonaire). The apartment is perfectly situated within walking distance to downtown, numerous dive shops, and even a dock that you could walk out and scuba dive, snorkel, or swim from. I spent every night of my trip going for an evening swim in the delightful pool located on the property, which was mineral water and felt phenomenally clean and wonderful to swim a few laps. Towards the end of my trip I realised that I was running low on clothes and this condo came with a nice little washing machine and dry racks to let my clothes dry in the salty, fresh air. I could not imagine a more perfect property for a vacation to paradise. The colours of the water, the location, and the divine coral reefs that surround the island make this a perfect paradise. Make sure when you go, you buy your nature pass from any of the local dive shops, which allows you to dive, snorkel, and visit the gorgeous Washington Slagbaai park for a full year. Diving in Bonaire is unparalleled. From seeing frog fish, barracuda, angel fish, puffer fish, and even having my fingers cleaned by a shrimp. The reefs are perfect and with a drop off that runs to 120 feet, you cannot ask for a more perfect location than right outside of your quaint little condo at Playa Lechi #5. This was quite literally the most flawless and perfect vacation I have taken. Even the rental agency was most amenable with anything I could think to ask for. I highly recommend this property to anyone that is looking to spend a week in paradise. Don't forget to go to Lac Bay and try your hand at windsurfing and enjoy a fabulous cocktail!"

  • Exceptional Place

"This condo (they call it an apartment) had it all. For American's reading this review, it is on what we consider the third floor. The elevator reads ground floor, 1st then 2nd floor. The point is that only the penthouse above affords you a better view of the Caribbean. The unit's balcony faces west so you can view the sun setting every night. We found ourselves sitting here with any free moment just gazing at the tranquil ocean and listening to the waves lapping on the little beach. The diving and snorkeling are excellent directly in front of the unit and the dive equipment locker and dip tank were terrific for when you returned from your daily SCUBA adventures. Inside it is well appointed and maintained. The kitchen is small but gave us ample space to prepare meals. The bedrooms are large and the bathrooms/showers are huge and easily shared by two people. The air conditioning is only in the bedrooms but the trade winds are so constant that they were not used except at days end when we wanted to snuggle in for a good nights snooze. We had zero complaints and every request for assistance from management was met cheerfully and promptly. Yup, Yup (southern term) we would highly recommend this property."

Bonaire Travel Tips

Finding Your Way to Bonaire Vacation Rentals

Bonaire is a lesser-known destination located in the Dutch Antilles in the Caribbean. It is a delightful tropical haven that offers sunshine and relaxation to visitors. Various North American airlines have direct flights from New York City, Miami and Atlanta that operate several times a week. In peak season, a second weekly flight departs from Newark. As an alternate route, you can fly into Curacao and from there, connect on to Bonaire, using the frequent daily regional flight service. If traveling from Europe, your best flight connection will be from Amsterdam. There are direct flights that operate several times a week on the Dutch national carrier. For those traveling from South America, there are regularly scheduled direct flights from Curacao, Venezuela that operate several times daily. Alternate routing options are via Aruba or Bogota in Columbia.

Bonaire Travel Attractions

Because of its pristine reefs and warm water temperatures, some of Bonaire’s primary attractions are its colorful tropical reefs. Scuba diving operators offer daily diving charters for all levels of certified divers. If you do not have a dive qualification, the calm conditions provide the ideal opportunity to learn and get your certification. You can enjoy clear visibility and warm water temperatures while you marvel at the underwater treasures.

For visitors who prefer to stick to land-based activities, there are many options available. Bonaire is noted as an excellent birdwatching destination. For the more energetic, there is the option of exploring the island on horseback or bicycle. There are several local operators that offer guided tours of the island.

A visit to the Washington Slagbaai National Park is a wonderful experience. Here, you can see a wide variety of cacti, divi-divi trees, beautiful landscapes and incredible views. You may also have the opportunity to interact with the semi-tame resident iguanas in the park. Make sure you have your camera with you when you visit the park as it is one part of Bonaire that you will want to photograph.

Ideal Time of Year to Visit Bonaire Resorts

Bonaire is fortunate to have a year-round warm tropical climate. There is very little seasonal variation in the temperatures, and visitors can enjoy sunshine and warm weather almost any time of year. For most of the year, visitors can enjoy the tropical sunshine interspersed only with the occasional summer rain shower. Bonaire’s climate is largely defined by the consistent trade winds which bring a cooling breeze to the island. Water sport enthusiasts can benefit from warm water temperatures all year long.

Visitors to Belnem Vacation Rentals

Bonaire is tranquil tropical paradise. It is one of the lesser-known Caribbean vacation destinations and that is indeed part of its charm. All the marine waters surrounding the island have been declared a marine national park since 1979 which has resulted in a pristine and natural marine environment. It is this environment that attracts scuba divers, snorkelers and water sports enthusiasts from around the world. Because of the consistent trade winds, Bonaire is a popular sailing destination. Windsurfing is also becoming an increasingly popular activity on the island. Kite boarders are also attracted by the good wind and surf conditions that Bonaire has to offer. It is a destination for those that enjoy nature, sun, sea and a relaxed island vibe. When walking along many of the beach fronts, you will be able to see the colorful sails and kites dancing in the wind.
