  • Great Villa

"It was very easy to work with the owners, they did not take credit cards, which initially made me a little nervous, but no worries. I think they were the easiest people we have ever worked with and we have been doing this for years. House is as advertised, there was no cable when we were there, not a problem for us as we were at the beach the whole time. Driving on BVI is not for whimps, but once you get over that, it is a fantastic vacation. The house is lovely and the housekeeper is amazing (does laundry, cleaning, will even make dinner and do shopping!) It made the vacation a vacation! enjoy! Just rent jeeps!"

  • Best Rental on the Island!

"Our week in Makere Cottage couldn't have been any better! Starting off w/the responsiveness of Tina (the owner) answering emails...to the cottage itself...to THE VIEW (Cane Garden Bay was our favorite of all the bays!!) We truly felt as though we were in paradise! We can't compliment everyone/everything enough...a remarkable, memorable week!"

  • Couldn't Have Been Any Better

"Everything at Moonstone Villa was perfect. We couldn't have been more pleased. Sam did a great job of helping us with our reservations and other arrangements. Our rental car was waiting for us at the ferry dock. I recommend a car to bounce around the island. Long Bay Beach is beautiful and a short walk from the villa, but there are other great beaches on the island as well. We particularly liked Smugglers (good snorkeling) and Cane Garden Bay. The weather was fantastic. Cold and snowy back home, 84 with a wind chill of 82 on Tortolla. I was hesitant to write this great review. I don't want the villa to be booked when we return, and we will return."

  • Don't expect luxury

"If you don't expect luxury and just need a place to hang your hat and sleep off the day's activities, this is a great choice. If you want comfort and luxury - not so much. This is as basic as it can be. The location is beautiful. The photo you see on the page is to the east. They don't show you the view to the north which is the open Caribbean, or to the west which is a beautiful view of Jost Van Dyke. While this is, technically, ocean front, it is not beach front. The property is about 15 feet above the shore line, but in this case the shore is rocks and boulders. You will have to walk about 200 yards to get to beach access. The sound of the waves crashing on the rocks is either soothing or unsettling depending on how high the swells are. I can tell you that some nights the sound was loud enough to wake me - and other nights it lulled me into a peaceful slumber. There is no A/C. You will have to rely completely on ocean breezes and fans. There is no oven (probably a good thing considering the heat they give off), but there is a cook top and microwave. The bed linens are a bit on the scratchy side. If you've had too much sun or have very sensitive skin this can be an issue; otherwise, you should adapt quickly. The outside patio is the best part of this property. Again, it is just the basics, but it where we spent most of our time when we were there. You can sit in the sun or the shade and just watch the world go by. This location is very convenient to some of the best beaches in the BVI, as well as the best dining. Great food and drink are never more than a 10 minute car ride away. One more tiny issue that may be relevant to some travelers - this is not an accessible property. You must go down a narrow and fairly steep staircase. If you have mobility issues, this is not a good choice."
