  • Don't expect luxury

"If you don't expect luxury and just need a place to hang your hat and sleep off the day's activities, this is a great choice. If you want comfort and luxury - not so much. This is as basic as it can be. The location is beautiful. The photo you see on the page is to the east. They don't show you the view to the north which is the open Caribbean, or to the west which is a beautiful view of Jost Van Dyke. While this is, technically, ocean front, it is not beach front. The property is about 15 feet above the shore line, but in this case the shore is rocks and boulders. You will have to walk about 200 yards to get to beach access. The sound of the waves crashing on the rocks is either soothing or unsettling depending on how high the swells are. I can tell you that some nights the sound was loud enough to wake me - and other nights it lulled me into a peaceful slumber. There is no A/C. You will have to rely completely on ocean breezes and fans. There is no oven (probably a good thing considering the heat they give off), but there is a cook top and microwave. The bed linens are a bit on the scratchy side. If you've had too much sun or have very sensitive skin this can be an issue; otherwise, you should adapt quickly. The outside patio is the best part of this property. Again, it is just the basics, but it where we spent most of our time when we were there. You can sit in the sun or the shade and just watch the world go by. This location is very convenient to some of the best beaches in the BVI, as well as the best dining. Great food and drink are never more than a 10 minute car ride away. One more tiny issue that may be relevant to some travelers - this is not an accessible property. You must go down a narrow and fairly steep staircase. If you have mobility issues, this is not a good choice."

  • BREATHTAKING...

"We just returned from a 2 wk stay in Tortola BVI. There was 8 people (4 couples) in our group. We stayed at the villa for 4 nights. The pictures do not do the home justice. It was breathtaking. The views from the balconies and the inside of the house were incredible. It was booked with the property manager Alberto, and he was amazing. He met us at the airport to drive us to the villa. We arrived at different times, so the first group went to the home to find that Alberto had picked up a few groceries for us as well as some spirts, which were required after the long flight to get there. He waited with our group until the next group arrived and again went to the airport, so that we did not get lost. He had some snacks for us when we arrived from the airport. He is so ver thoughtful. He was available to us 24/7, and advised we could call him anytime that was needed. It was such a wonderful expereince having such a caring and thoughtful person looking after us. He truly made the experience a very positive one. We can hardly wait to return."

  • Can't stop thinking about it!!

"Where to begin?! Our adventure began with a 45 minute ferry ride across the teal coloured waters of the Pacific. We were greeted by our gracious host, Ben, who took us to our little piece of paradise we were privileged to call home for one week. (Next time we are definitely staying longer) The pictures you see are just but a glimpse of what Kerensa has to offer. This villa has all of the modern day conveniences you could want whilst maintaining the island charm we were looking for. The furnishings are both rustic AND comfortable. You have access to wifi, outdoor speakers, endless music selections, a big screen TV, movies (Netflix), a brand new Weber Bbq (my husband was thrilled) and telephone. The overall condition of the villa was SUPERB! Very clean and well kept. There was no shortage when it came to luxurious linens or supplies. Ben, a 30 year resident of Tortola, was extremely helpful with the planning of our vacation. He made himself available whenever we called upon him and was eager to suggest places to visit on the island. The panoramic views from your VERY private 'nest' are spectacular! In morning we would wake to the breathtaking views and sounds of the ocean from our four poster, very comfy bed. In the evening we would pour a glass of wine, turn on some music and watch the sun set directly in front of us! We planned To rent a car mid week to travel the island but to tell you the truth, once we were there, we had no desire to leave!! We were able to walk down to Brewers Bay (15 min walk) which had a lovely beach but couldn't wait to get back to the villa for a swim in the infinity pool and to watch the sunset! I'm still smiling as I write this!! Prior to our arrival I ordered all of our groceries, wine etc on line. The grocers deliver free of charge so when we arrived all we had to do was throw on our bathing suits and jump in the pool... SEAMLESS!! My husband and I have traveled many places. This is our 5th year renting with VR.com and KERENSA is the only place we woukd return to! Thank you Ben.... We'll see you next year!!!"

  • Beyond our Expectations!

"Our family stayed at Makere House and Cottage for 10 days. We have 2 teenagers who stayed in the cottage - so accommodations were PERFECT for all of us! The location was absolutely perfect for us. We explored the entire island of Tortola and found it fun and easy to get around. The roads are like nothing we have ever experienced - but super fun and easy by day 2! Weather was perfectly gorgeous! Went to Brewers Bay, Smugglers Cove and loved Cane Garden Bay as well. Snorkeling was amazing! Grocery shopping is near and we ate many homemade meals in the house kitchen. It was stocked with absolutely everything we could have needed. Beds were comfortable and baths were perfect. Excursions to Jost Van Dyke (our favorite) and The Baths at Virgin Gorda were fun and easy. Catching the ferry at both Roadtown and West End were less than 15 mins away. The people on Tortola and BVI in general were amazingly friendly and helpful. Met MANY people and had fun chatting with the locals no matter where we went. Had great food and drinks everywhere!!! A PERFECT vacation for our family - much needed - awesome bonding time for the 4 of us! WE WILL BE BACK FOR MORE!!!!!"
