  • Limeberry House.

"Such a lovely home! Our family included two teenagers and an elderly father. We were well looked after by Jon, Katy, Pinkie and Corinna who went out of their way to point us in the right direction of good restaurants, sublime beaches and adventure experiences. Their generosity did much to make us feel at home. Jon provided us with rum, wine and fish that he had recently caught and was able to give excellent information about "island musts". The home was beautiful, clean and restful. The kitchen was very well equipped for cooking. The pool was a welcome hangout spot when we needed a break from driving the narrow twisting roads of Tortolla. Jon and Katy are thoughtful about what items make beach-life easier, such as beach chairs, snorkel gear, nice big beach towels, extra sun screen and bug juice, things hard to pack into carry-on luggage. A car is a real advantage on the island, even though the two local beaches were wonderful. The only downside was that we didn't stay longer. Even my very particular 15 year old daughter could find nothing wrong other than she had to share the bedroom with her brother. It is definitely in our plans to return."

  • We will be back!!!! Amazing!!!

"Scotland villa is by far the best vrbo we have stayed in. When you 1st walk in an take in the spectacular views you will be hooked!! The pictures do not do it justice until you see it with your own eyes!! Our kids loved the pool and with smugglers cove down the hill it was perfect. Plus it is easy to get around the island to do other things. Waking up each morning hearing the ocean and seeing the spectacular view we never wanted to leave. Sitting on the patio at night looking at stars having a glass of wine... Perfect. Sam and Sharlene were so wonderful to work with. They really made it easy and always available for questions. We will be back to Scottland next year and hopefully for many years after!! Thank you:)"

  • Fantastic Hosts!

"I had to take some time to put up my own review of Limeberry and the great hospitality we received from Jon and Katy! I was in charge of organizing our accommodation and Jon was very responsive to my questions and I felt very secure during the whole selection and booking process. Jon went above and beyond with our family. The fridge was stocked with food and drinks (for the adults and the kids) so we had enough to get us through breakfast the day after our arrival. He dropped fresh fish on two occasions which were terrific on the BBQ! (Not to mention the desserts he gave us as well!). And on our last day in Tortola, Jon invited us to Little Thatch Island where he is situated and we had a great day on a private island and beach! We snorkelled and played in the sand and just had a terrific day! This was all on top of Limeberry itself. It accommodated 9 of us of all ages and was comfortable and cozy. We had great meals on the large dining table and the kitchen was stocked with all we needed. The location was ideal for us. Short drive to Long Bay and Smuggler's Cove which are our favourite beaches by far - one for playing in the waves and the other for snorkelling - just perfect! Thanks again for a great holiday and would definitely recommend the house and the hosts to anyone!"

  • Beyond our Expectations!

"Our family stayed at Makere House and Cottage for 10 days. We have 2 teenagers who stayed in the cottage - so accommodations were PERFECT for all of us! The location was absolutely perfect for us. We explored the entire island of Tortola and found it fun and easy to get around. The roads are like nothing we have ever experienced - but super fun and easy by day 2! Weather was perfectly gorgeous! Went to Brewers Bay, Smugglers Cove and loved Cane Garden Bay as well. Snorkeling was amazing! Grocery shopping is near and we ate many homemade meals in the house kitchen. It was stocked with absolutely everything we could have needed. Beds were comfortable and baths were perfect. Excursions to Jost Van Dyke (our favorite) and The Baths at Virgin Gorda were fun and easy. Catching the ferry at both Roadtown and West End were less than 15 mins away. The people on Tortola and BVI in general were amazingly friendly and helpful. Met MANY people and had fun chatting with the locals no matter where we went. Had great food and drinks everywhere!!! A PERFECT vacation for our family - much needed - awesome bonding time for the 4 of us! WE WILL BE BACK FOR MORE!!!!!"

Tortola Travel Tips

Discover Tortola Vacation Rentals

Known as "nature’s little secret," the British Virgin Islands really are the place for a peaceful vacation to rediscover life’s simple pleasures. As there are no international flights onto the island, Tortola travel is available via a variety of larger Caribbean airports, such as those on Antigua, Puerto Rico, St. Thomas or St. Kitts. Being in the Caribbean, naturally, the weather is just about perfect all year-round. While it is British territory, the currency is the U.S. dollar and most places do take major credit cards. The four main islands are Anegada, Jost van Dyke, Tortola and Virgin Gorda. The largest of these is Tortola.

White Sandy Beaches With a Dark Green Mountain Backdrop

Tortola resorts are near the white sandy beaches, with a back drop of dark green mountains with a sheltered harbor, usually filled with yachts. The island has many safe anchorages in areas, such as Brandywine Bay, Hodge’s Creek, Marina Cay and Trellis Bay. These make it a perfect island for boaters. Beaches with palm trees line the coast. Areas such as Apple Bay, Elizabeth Beach, Long Bay Beach and Smuggler’s Cove are great places for a swim, snorkeling, scuba diving or fishing among the many great activities on offer.

Visitors can learn more about the unique history of the British Virgin Islands at the BVI Folk Museum. Take a tour of Callwood’s Rum Distillery where visitors can learn about the production of the famous local drink before sampling the final result. Explore the ruins of a variety of original buildings here, such as Fort Recovery. Dating from the early 1600s, the Fort probably gets its name from being used as a facility for wounded soldiers. One of the fascinating things about the fort is its location on the beach, instead of the traditional location of high ground. Fort Burt, on the other hand, is located on higher ground yet all that remains of the fort is a solitary cannon, still displayed overlooking the harbor. Take a break from the glorious beaches and head inland into the mountains to visit Sage Mountain National Park, where the vestiges of the primeval rain forest still remain. Along the mountain ridge, discover the villages were local life carries on much as it has for centuries.

The main town is Road Town. Here, visitors will find a great selection of shops selling locally made jewelry, spices, silk screen fabrics and art. There are also excellent restaurants to try the local dishes such as the fresh fish dishes of lobster and conch or spicy goat curries and "Johnny Cakes." Here, visitors may also enjoy a wander through the pergolas and vine-covered paths at O’Neil Botanic Gardens.

Tortola Resorts are Perfect Bases to Discover the British Virgin Islands

Tortola vacation rentals are also ideal bases for exploring the variety of other islands that make up the British Virgin Islands. On these islands, visitors will have a fascinating time exploring the various ruins from the island’s original African and Indian inhabitants as well as the secluded beaches and bays. During the fall and winter months, watch for the whales and dolphins as they make their way past the islands.

To the Infinity Pool and Beyond!

Tortola vacation rentals come in a wide variety of sizes to suit any requirement. Choose from a beautiful villa for two with a hot tub and infinity pool or a luxuriously spacious home to take a large family or group of friends. What is guaranteed is that each home is beautifully decorated and well equipped with everything to make a vacation special. These unique properties have modern conveniences such as DVD players, film and music libraries, stereo systems, and BBQs. Many even include internet access and will welcome pets.
