  • Once in a lifetime.

"Our family of six just returned from 7 nights at The Amateras and we all are suffering with the come home grumpies. This villa meet every expectation we imagined. The views are incredible and from every window in each pavilion, you can see forever. With this view does come some stairs! Thelma took good care of us with a mid-week towel change and a quick clean up. The pool was just the right tempature and the perfect stop after a long day at the beach! Didn't get to see Elvis, but plenty of lizards kept us entertained and would defiantly come inside. Each day we went to new beaches and all of them very close. Great location for the villa. Enjoy and hope I get to return."

  • Great Place to Stay in Paradise

"While attempting to find an affordable place to stay on Virgin Gorda for my wife's 30th birthday I stumbled across the Boulder House and I consider myself lucky I did. I was initially somewhat reluctant because I knew that the property was shared with another house (the Cedar House owned by the same family) and didn't want to lose our privacy but I can honestly say the two houses are far enough apart that privacy is not an issue. The property is beautifully maintained and well located, with easy access to Spanish Town and the Baths (not that there is really difficult access to anything on the island). The inclusion of the truck in the rental meant we could visit a different beach every day without the added expense of a car rental or taxi. And when going to the different beaches the house's cooler and beach chairs were great. The house itself was large and the deck offered amazing views of the entire island. The fact that it is on top of a hill meant a cool breeze was always present and air conditioning was never missed. The property managers Howard and Irma were available to answer anything we needed help with and the maid Shirley kept the place spotless. In all I'd recommend the Boulder House to anyone and will probably stay there again when we go back."

  • Nicest House I've Ever Stayed In. Period.

"Just got home from a weeklong stay at Calypso with two other couples and the depression is already beginning to set in. Thought I'd stave it off by going back to VRBO to relive the experience through the pictures, which don't even begin to do the property justice. You legitimately can't capture the view that this place has with a camera. We had high expectations going in, and Calypso far exceeded all of them. The house was clearly very well thought out, from the layout of the pool/open kitchen/patio which afford absolutely stunning views of Crooks Bay and the Jerusalem Islands, to the finer details like the teak furniture, manual mahogany blinds, and luxurious bedding. There is simply nothing to not rave about. While we loved every minute we spent exploring the breathtaking islands, we equally loved our relaxing time at home where we were comfortably able to lounge, swim, read, grill and catch up with friends. Irma was a great host - she picked us up at the airport with our rental car waiting and even stocked the fridge with beer and water. She made it clear that she was available at anytime to answer any questions or problems, and the one or two times we called her, she answered on the first ring. She even gave us a heads up the night before we left that Sunshine Air (or as the locals call it, "Sometimes Air") had changed our departure time the next morning - we wouldn't have known otherwise. As a side note, yes, the property has scorpions, the same way that our house has spiders - they are tiny, rarely seen and completely harmless. It's Virgin Gorda, scorpions live there. I don't go to Maine and complain about the moose. We'll definitely be going back."

  • Highly recommend Moonstone Villa and the services of Villas of Tortola!

"Sam (property manager/Villas of Tortola) was extremely helpful. She responded quickly to my availability request and questions. She gave us useful suggestions and contact info for various vendors. It was a last minute trip and we were undecided on a property; Sam enticed us with a discount on the weekly rate. We gladly accepted. Unfortunately, they can’t accept credit cards but Sam reserved the villa without usual upfront payment (there was no time to mail it). We gave a check for the rent /security immediately upon arrival. All arrangements were done via email so no international calls needed. It was hassle free! We rented a SUV from Jerry’s. Jerry was waiting when we got off the ferry and took us to our rental. BTW... Tortola roads are insane. The SUV was a necessity. Sam’s assistant Kia was promptly waiting for us at Jerry’s (great personal service). We followed her to the property. She gave us a quick tour. The Penthouse is exactly as the photos/description depict. Clean, well maintained and has what you need for a comfortable stay. The vaulted ceiling is great. It really makes it feel bright, open and airy. The bed is comfortable. The view is incredible. We loved the two comfy chairs looking out to the ocean, the patio and the fact that the sliding door opens all the way up. They even have a full screen – which you don’t always find in the Caribbean. The kitchenette has all the basics and was stocked with a big jug of drinking water. We never used the TV. There is no WiFi. They did not advertise it, I wrongly assumed they would have it. Sam later explained it’s hopefully being installed in the villa soon. It was actually nice to “disconnect”. Long Bay beach is great, especially if you like to walk the beach. Forewarning, it’s a hike up the hill and then stairs to get to the unit. This may not be suitable for all. The drive up hill to the condo can be scary – but common for Tortola! We had one slight snafu. Our last night we returned late to find out the renters downstairs locked us out. (When we first arrived Kia suggested we leave the key for the shared door in a designated hiding spot. It worked all week with the other renters. When the new renters came in they must not have known it was ours and took it). Anyway, a few expensive calls later, Sam’s husband quickly responded and had someone from the Long Bay Resort let us in. Not ideal but things happen. Sam’s team responded well and she very apologetic for the mishap! Great overall experience!"
