  • Still the ONE

"This was our 4th stay at Villa Dulcinea and it remains a spectacular rental. The location is ideal. you can go to St. John's, St. Thomas, Jost Van Dyke (White Bay kicking back at Ivan's) or Virgin Gorda via ferry for the day from Soper's Hole if you want to get out for day trip explorations. Or you can walk to Smuggler's Cove and spend a relaxing day where the breeze always blows, the shell hunting is good and Patricia serves great lunch and drinks. The photos very accurately describe the property. it is very clean, beautifully decorated, the kitchen allows us to cook our meals with ease as it is very well stocked with necessary equipment. The Fish 'N Lime restaurant is lots of fun in the evenings with live music. We already have next year's week reserved!"

  • Don't expect luxury

"If you don't expect luxury and just need a place to hang your hat and sleep off the day's activities, this is a great choice. If you want comfort and luxury - not so much. This is as basic as it can be. The location is beautiful. The photo you see on the page is to the east. They don't show you the view to the north which is the open Caribbean, or to the west which is a beautiful view of Jost Van Dyke. While this is, technically, ocean front, it is not beach front. The property is about 15 feet above the shore line, but in this case the shore is rocks and boulders. You will have to walk about 200 yards to get to beach access. The sound of the waves crashing on the rocks is either soothing or unsettling depending on how high the swells are. I can tell you that some nights the sound was loud enough to wake me - and other nights it lulled me into a peaceful slumber. There is no A/C. You will have to rely completely on ocean breezes and fans. There is no oven (probably a good thing considering the heat they give off), but there is a cook top and microwave. The bed linens are a bit on the scratchy side. If you've had too much sun or have very sensitive skin this can be an issue; otherwise, you should adapt quickly. The outside patio is the best part of this property. Again, it is just the basics, but it where we spent most of our time when we were there. You can sit in the sun or the shade and just watch the world go by. This location is very convenient to some of the best beaches in the BVI, as well as the best dining. Great food and drink are never more than a 10 minute car ride away. One more tiny issue that may be relevant to some travelers - this is not an accessible property. You must go down a narrow and fairly steep staircase. If you have mobility issues, this is not a good choice."

  • This is a dream house and location - you won't be disappointed

"My husband, son (18 yrs) and I stayed here for 6 nights. What a fantastic home. We loved the many spaces this house offered both inside and out. The ocean breezes kept it very comfortable as did the ceiling fans. We never needed the A/C. The photos accurately reflect what you'll find when you arrive. I can't say enough about how easy it was to work with Sam. She made the reservation process and our stay so easy. While getting around on Tortola is a challenge, Van Dyke house is not any worse than anywhere else. THe roads are narrow, hilly and have many hair pin turns but that was part of the excitement. We did find some wonderful places to eat close by that cut the driving down a bit. (Sugar Mill, Palm's Delight, D' Coal Pot). The beach is just about at the end of the driveway and is very isolated. We loved hearing the constant sound of the waves at night. The pool is a welcome relief from the heat and the dryer was great for drying our beach towels after a day at the Beaches. I really can't recommend this house enough. We couldn't think of anything we would have needed that wasn't provided."

  • Great Week at The Blessing!

"We spent an awesome week at The Blessing. Never having been to Tortola, we researched several locations on the island and finally chose Long Bay and The Blessing. It was the right choice. The villa was absolutely gorgeous and very private. The pictures do not do it justice. John and family were easy to deal with and arranged for us to be met at the ferry dock and shown to the villa. You definitely need a four wheel drive. The drive up to the villa is part of the island experience. We loved that the villa was a five minute drive from beautiful long bay beach and a quick ten minute drive to the West End for groceries and restaurants. We had a hard time leaving the villa enjoying morning coffee on the deck and lazy afternoons in the infinity pool over looking Jost. The villa was very well appointed with beautiful furniture, an awesome kitchen and a very comfortable bed. We hope to return soon and stay at The Blessing again!!!"
