"Da Blue House is a charming, impeccably clean, and well-equipped cottage in a friendly neighborhood where locals are quick to say hello and offer assistance. The location was a perfect spot for me and my college-aged daughters to explore the island. Sam and JC were easy to reach and made sure that we had everything we needed, then after our trip, returned our security deposit lighting fast. Two of the most beautiful beaches- Long Beach and Smugglers Cove- are just a few minutes' drive, and great restaurants like Cruzin, Palm's Delight, and Sugar Mill are within walking distance, with great views along the way. In fact, the sunset from Cruzin was a dream. Island driving is an adventure in itself. The crazy-steep hairpin curves on the way to Cane Garden Bay take some getting used to (beep your horn on the approach and take 'em wide). Loved the food and music at Quito's and killer BBQ at Elm's. Being the off-season, we frequently found ourselves alone or with few others on beaches and in restaurants, except at the Baths, which despite the relative crowds, is still a must-see. Also recommend sailing and snorkeling with Gary on Karalu- excellent service and lunch on board. The highlight of our trip was breakfast with Mr. Egbert Donovan, just up the street at the North Shore Shell Museum. Be sure to call or visit him first to make a reservation. Mr. Egbert served up fabulous mango, banana, and coconut pancakes, mango smoothies, and charming tales of island life, as well as a tour of the "museum". Best of all, he strummed his guitar, sang original songs, and gave us instruments to play along. Priceless. One thing to note if you're a light sleeper- roosters and light traffic may keep you awake at Da Blue House, but once you relax and get in your island groove, it's all good. Truly fantastic …we’ll be back. Thanks Sam and JC!"Guest: laurie b. Date of Stay: June 2014 Review Submitted: July 7, 2014View listing
"We spent an awesome week at The Blessing. Never having been to Tortola, we researched several locations on the island and finally chose Long Bay and The Blessing. It was the right choice. The villa was absolutely gorgeous and very private. The pictures do not do it justice. John and family were easy to deal with and arranged for us to be met at the ferry dock and shown to the villa. You definitely need a four wheel drive. The drive up to the villa is part of the island experience. We loved that the villa was a five minute drive from beautiful long bay beach and a quick ten minute drive to the West End for groceries and restaurants. We had a hard time leaving the villa enjoying morning coffee on the deck and lazy afternoons in the infinity pool over looking Jost. The villa was very well appointed with beautiful furniture, an awesome kitchen and a very comfortable bed. We hope to return soon and stay at The Blessing again!!!"Guest: Lynn G. "Our family of eight were blessed with the opportunity to be “all together” in December 2013 at the secluded & private AnaCapri Estate which overlooks... from on high, one of the most gorgeous views on Planet Earth. The amenities were endless and this elegant home was stunning. From the glistening infinity pool to the luxury of a massive and well-endowed kitchen, entertainment & communal area… to the privacy of four private bedrooms plus a walk-out suite, the entire facility was spotlessly clean & superb in every possible way! We traveled down the mountain to town and to some of the finest beaches we have ever seen. The care and attention to the manicured grounds with papaya & banana trees...the tiled pathways to walk, a hidden hammock and natural settings was inspiring and breathtaking! I can’t forget the garden…with its available fresh basil, oregano and thyme that boosted our culinary experience. The Island of Tortola is magnificent and the AnaCapri Estate is close enough to the airport for convenience but all you see fly by from both above and below the substantial deck were the huge pelicans that simply drift past on updrafts of cool breeze from the ocean below. The Island we learned is susceptible to electrical blackouts from time to time but we were so impressed when one occurred and a generator somewhere off in the distance quietly and automatically switched on and we never missed a song on the music system...the owners have thought of everything. The AnaCapri Estate comes highly recommended by every member of our family and we will not hesitate to recommend it to our friends and to return again in the future. The pictures we have taken there will be shared for generations!"Guest: Paul C Date of Stay: December 2013 Review Submitted: January 24, 2014View listing
"Every year that we mark a milestone anniversary I try to surprise my wife with an incredible vacation. This year I let her do the planning and I don't know how I will ever top our 9 days at Seagrape Cottage. Pictures and words cannot capture how beautiful and magical time is on this island thanks to Mother Nature and Jon, Katy and the wonderful staff. Prior to our arrival we sent several emails back and forth to Katy with our requests and likes regarding food and beverages. We also sent our travel info so that Jon could pick us up in Tortola. After landing in St. Thomas we headed to the ferry dock to catch the next ferry to Tortola's West End. Using public transportation took us about 3.5 hours from landing to setting foot on the island. Most of the time was spent waiting to clear customs into the BVI. On our return, Katy arranged for a private water and land taxi which made the whole process much easier and less time consuming (75 to 90 minutes). Jon met us after we cleared Customs on Tortola and then loaded our luggage and us onto a RIB for a 5-minute ride to Little Thatch's dock. After unloading my wife and I could feel all the weight of the world being lifted off our shoulders. Jon took us and our luggage via an all-terrain golf cart to "our" cottage. We were both speechless while Jon showed us around the cottage which offers WIFI, air conditioning, three powerful ceiling fans and views beyond compare. The outside dining table was set on "our" deck for dinner, which was ready for us whenever we wanted. After Jon finished explaining life on the island ... we had use of the beach house and the whole beach. Housekeeping would come ever day to change towels, sheets and clean up in general. A bottle of our favorite champagne was waiting on ice and after Jon left we toasted our good fortune. We quickly settled into a routine of breakfast on the patio, a walk to the beach where we either read or swam for hours, lunch back at the cottage and then either back to the beach or on the patio to relax before dinner. Katy would call every morning and ask if we needed anything and if housekeeping could come within in the hour. EVERY request we had was met with "I will send someone right down with it" ... whether it was swimming noodles or fresh basil from Jon and Katy's garden. During our 30 years of marriage we spend, on average, two weeks a year in the Caribbean. We both agree that Seagrape Cottage is our paradise!"Guest: Andy Date of Stay: June 2014 Review Submitted: June 19, 2014View listing
