"If your looking for the absolute most beautiful sunsets, quiet serenity, turquoise waters and exceptional surroundings, then this is the place for you! This was our second time staying in this villa, and when we discussed where to go when deciding on another island vacation, there wasn't any question as to what the answer would be, HIGH POINT on the beautiful island of Tortola. It's a stones throw from five different islands and much more tranquil and less touristy than St Thomas or St John, but does have quite a bit of shopping and tourist areas if you travel the 35 minutes east to Roadtown. We did take a few road trips to Roadtown and although it's quite busy, and easily accessed, it's easier to navigate during the day versus after dark. One of the many reasons we loved this villa is because of it's location. With beautiful (almost) 360 degree views, it's quiet and secluded and more room than you know what to do with. It's decorated superbly and is very homey. Soper's Hole is a wonderful little spot to visit and is on the west end of the island, easily seen from the villa's deck. With it's many boardwalk shops, boating/diving and snorkeling day trips you can take, or stopping at the famous Pusser's restaurant and bar, it's the perfect place to stop for lunch and enjoy a Pusser's "Pain Killer". There is also a local market which has everything you need (make sure you go upstair too) without traveling to Roadtown, it is an easy 5-7 minutes from the villa. There is also a wonderful outdoor bar and restaurant directly across the bay called The Fish-N-Lime Inn, which serves great lunches and evening specials of fresh fish and home made entrees. Check out the silver Tarpon, baby sharks and sting rays that swim at the end of the dock, awesome! You can also tour the island in one of Jerry's car rentals, making sure to visit the north side of the island where there are numerous beaches and small local villages. You can also catch the ferry and buzz over to Jost Van Dyke, where your first stop has to be Foxy's bar just walking distance up the road or grab a taxi and hit the beach at White Bay beach, beautiful! If you just want to lay back and do nothing, this villa is the perfect place with every amenity imaginable. Soak, swim, take a nap, or just relax and watch the most amazing sunsets while dining at home, Doug and Linda have made their home warm, inviting and cozy, there is no better place! There's not enough stars for this place, truly Paradise!!"Guest: Diane and John Date of Stay: December 2014 Review Submitted: December 22, 2014View listing
"We stayed at the Makere House and Cottage as 3 couples for 5 nights. Everything was perfect from the location, to the gorgeous view, to the super clean rooms. We couldn't have asked for more. Mobbsie, the property manager, was so gracious and helpful during our stay...he made us feel right at home and made sure we were well taken care of. Definitely rent a Jeep Wrangler from Jerry's to tour around the island...the roads are like nothing you've ever experienced for sure. We hope to return someday!"Guest: Clare K. "So nice when real life superseded expectation ! I'm lucky enough to say I have travelled a lot in 46 years ! All over the world, staying in everything from youth hostels to private Castles. I have to be honest and say that Tortolla & Casa Caribe rank right up there. Rare to find a combination of ideal weather, stunning white sand beaches, clean clear warm ocean water, uncrowded by tourists, delicious roadside food, safe & friendly locals, adventure & raw natural beauty. It was the perfect vacation spot for us. We rented a scooter & explored Tortolla, hit Jost for a day of drinking & swimming with the yachters, crawled through the massive boulders on Virgin Gorda, Island hopped - but I have to say the best part was Casa Caribe itself. A perfect little villa with doors flung wide open day & night, waves constantly crashing below the balcony, waking to the sunshine, walking to brekky, swimming at Apple Bay, watching the surfers from the swing & having privacy enough to skinny dip just steps from home. It was so much better than what I thought a week in Paradise was like !"Guest: Vespa Date of Stay: March 2014 Review Submitted: April 9, 2014View listing
"Our stay at On the Rocks exceeded expectations. The only difficulty was deciding whether to stay at this beautiful villa and lounge by the pool --- or venture out to the quiet, pristine beaches, which are a two minute walk away. The owners have paid attention to every detail in every room and area of this magical place. The property manager is wonderful. She is always available to answer any query about anything. A wonderful place to celebrate my birthday with friends and family. Our next decision: when are we going back?!"Guest: Alexis C. Date of Stay: May 2014 Review Submitted: June 3, 2014View listing
