"Marcia was very accommodating, answering all our questions regarding the island Getaway, prior to our booking, quickly and accurately - providing helpful details (such as favorite Dive Sites) that we printed out in advance and brought with us. The house care-takers met us at the car rental agency as expected, and dealt with a minor problem, during our stay, quickly & efficiently.
This property is well situated on the island, and the layout of the home provides good use of the trade winds throughout (although there are also ceiling fans & AC if preferred). Everything we needed was provided, and the mid-island location created a restful base for our excursions. As shore divers, my husband & I dived daily, renting our tanks through the Brac Shack, just down the street. We found the dive sites easily negotiated with marked rocks and local maps. Many of the shore entrances are even cut-out for easier access. We dined out occasionally at the Brac Reef Resort, which provided great service & filling meals - also just a few miles down the road.
An east wind kicked up during our stay, causing windy water conditions, so we enjoyed the colorful reefs & fish mostly to ourselves (octopi, large crabs, southern rays, eagle rays, porcupine & burr fish, various nudibranchs, purple sea fans, drum fish, nurse sharks, etc.). My husband was especially taken by "George", the local large grouper, who spent nearly an entire dive following us around. This was our first time to Cayman Brac. We have shore dived in Bonaire & also Curacao and wanted to experience Cayman diving without the crowds. We found the finger reefs, near shore, to be very similar the the FL Keys; and of course, Cayman Brac has fabulous wall reefs as well. This location provided a great centralized base to explore it all. We enjoyed a wonderful time. :D and would recommend this unit for anyone wishing to relax, dive/snorkel, or just get-away. I loved falling asleep to the waves crashing off shore."
