  • Great Condo in a Great Location

"We stayed at this condo for a week and had an excellent time. The owners were a pleasure to work with, gave us good advice on where to eat and things to do, and were prompt in responding and returning our security deposit. They offered to arrange for pick up from the airport but we were renting a car for other reasons so we did not take advantage of it. The condo has a living area facing the beach and then two nicely separated bedrooms, each with a bath. It is ideal for two couples. The condo is in a very good location, perhaps 100 feet from the beach. Being on the second story was a plus as it provided better breezes and better views of the beach. The sound of the waves was a relaxing background to our entire vacation. The front of the unit has full width sliding glass doors opening onto a covered porch, where we spent essentially all our time. In our opinion, this condo was one of the most ideally situated of all the units in the complex. Every day we walked the beach, which was one of the highlights of our trip. The complex is probably three quarters of a mile from the center of Cabarete, and it is possible to walk there on the beach, the last quarter mile is a trail along the bluff. Cabarete has a nice grocery store (Janets) and a bunch of good restaurants. There is also a nice restaurant (Martinis) perhaps a quarter mile in the other direction right on the beach. The condo is in a fairly laid back area. We saw a number of older couples, young couples and young couples with children. Most of the wind and kite sailing is closer to downtown Cabarete. There are a number of companies that offer activities such as diving, zip lines, the 27 waterfalls, wind surfing, etc, and they will all pick you up at the condo, so a car is not really needed. We did some diving and highly recommend Dive Cabarete; they were excellent. All the diving is from Sosua, a town about 15 minutes away (but the Dive shops will pick you up). All in all, this is a great place to stay and I highly recommend it. A couple of things to note: The wifi log in information is actually on the cable box on the TV. We had to hunt for it. There is no laundry in the unit, but there is free laundry in a building off of the parking lot."

  • Grate for family

"We stayed at Wave Dance Jan14th-Feb 10th 2015.We were a large group and rented both units, 5 adults and 4 children (12,10,5,3). We loved our stay in the DR!! The house was clean and comftorble. Upon arrival we arranged Geoff and Peggy were very helpful with all ( and we had a lot) of questions! They helped us arrange pick up from the airport by Jose, we flew in to Santiago de los Caballeros, if you can avoid flying in to there i would do so!! I was a 1 1/2 hour drive to Cabarete. Puerto Plata is only 30 min away! We arrived at the house late evening and we were greeted by Peggy's assistant to show us around the house to get us settled which was very nice!, Jose also took us in tho Puerto Plata that night to grocery shop so nice!!! We chose to not rent a car while in the DR and it turned out just fine! Jose lent us a phone so we could call him to arrange travel as we needed. He took us on a day trip to the most wonderful beach, and let us stay all day and play!!There was a small grocery store right down the street that was fine for day to day things, and once a week we got a cab in to Puerto Plata. We would walk to town during to day on the beach or the street and it was fine,a little stressful on the street with the kids!! DO NOT walking al night!! I repeat DO NOT WALK AT NIGHT!! The house was very family friendly, all the doors to the pool area lock and the back top deck does not have assess to the ground floor, so we felt safe with the little ones! The house is in a gated comity and all the guars were so nice and friendly! We felt very safe! We we're a large group with lots of different interest so we went our own ways some days but we found a few things that all of us could do together, and all ages could participate! We went almost daily in the early evening to Kaiceitos Circus School, the kids LOVED it!! We took a day trip with Kayak River Adventures and it was one of the highlights of out trip!T hey picked up up in the morning and provided snacks and a dinner cooked by a family over a open fire that was to die for! This was a great adventure for all ages, we had ages from 65 to 3 and they all enjoyed it! These two things we're very affordable:) We all also enjoyed the horse back rides that are right on the beach! Our big splurge was Ocean Wold in Puerto Plata, we took the older kids to swim wit the dolphins and it was worth every penny!!It was a fun place!I think we had the most fun just hanging at the house at the pool and at the beach!WILL BE BACK!"

  • Villa Fabulous!

"We researched our next Spring Break vacation until we found the perfect spot in Villa Gordon. Hidden away between Sosua and Cabarete was a little community of 10+ homes, a hotel, and an amazing restaurant all behind a guarded gate. This beach house was perfect for our extended family of 11 to visit and hang out for the week. With the four bedrooms off to the left side and the main house with two master suites, living room, dining room, and kitchen was a great place to stay for our first trip to the DR. Watch the videos Gordon sends you before you come, it will help a bit. Enjoy the comfy couches outside with 'Mini' the sweet, sweet kitty who sits on your lap. The pool gets shaded in the afternoon. The ocean right outside is dangerous but walk to the point on the right (AFTER the big rock) and it's shallow a good ways out, or go past the 3rd surf camp (10m walk) to where there are no rocks, gentle swells, and perfect waves for your kids. Or if you surf, rent a board! The life guard walking the beach was a bonus! Franklin (one of the best parts of the trip) picked us up from the airport and was our taxi the whole week. Johanny and Cathy, our maids for the week, were very industrious and hard workers and... they made breakfast for us EVERY single morning. It was heaven. Make sure your kitchen is stocked. For extra you can get a house-keepers lunch and everything was so good. Cons - Just a few! - Biggest problem was the wifi. They were not reliable at all. At. All. Chez Arsenio had a much stronger connection and it was sad the way we ran over there to download our email, or a book on our Kindle. The bedrooms do not get it at all (planned that way). The living room goes out every other day so you can't stream Pandora to the music speakers. - It's a typical beach house. It's a comfy house and perfect for all of us to lounge in but there is wear and tear in the house. The water filter spout was broken and hard to get water out of. One of the couches outside was a little worn down (like too many people sat in one particular spot). The outdoor plastic chairs, wooden chairs, and lounges were uncomfortable. - Buy extra toilet paper! :) - We got a little sick, even though the water was filtered. Be sure to talk to Anne about stocking the house with food. She is AWESOME! Go to Chez Arsenio! Happy Hour! - Monkey Jungle - Cabarete Beach - FAV! - 27 Waterfalls Have a great time! I would type more but I'm being cut off in my review! :)"

  • Great Family Vacation

"Highly recommend this place. Well maintained, Vern is very easy to work with. Easy access to either Cabarete to Sosua. While a vehicle is not necessary, it certainly makes it easier to get around. Watching th elites each night was incredible!"
