  • Luxurious Slice of Heaven with Angel Staff

"It was the best vacation ever! First of all the property itself is in a gated community of private villas called Orchid Bay and it is the last one on the end so there is 3 acres of nature surrounding the property. The main house is open air living where the doors are always open to allow the air to flow through the space and the view of the ocean to transmit through the property. Frank the chef, Ramon the bartender, Chris the concierge, Sandy the manager and the whole staff were so friendly and attentive! Every morning the leaves were raked from the yard, the pool/hot tub was cleaned, fresh DR coffee would be set up in the main house, and the breakfast bell would ring. There was fresh squeezed juice ranging from orange pineapple to watermelon as well as fresh fruit every breakfast (papaya, cantaloupe, pineapple, honeydew). Some dinners that stood out were the surf and turf meals consisting of lobster and steak paired with mashed potatoes and gravy and another night Mariella made beer battered dorado that knocked my socks off! On top of the delicious food the view from the dining area was palm trees, the ocean and the beautiful landscaping of the property. Needless to say I was usually the first to the food line and the last to leave the table. I treated myself to a mani-pedi which was perfect because Mariella was gentle yet thorough and very artistic. Rosa gave me a massage under the pergola on the outskirts of the property overlooking the ocean and cliffs. The sounds of the palm trees in the wind and the waves were a perfect backdrop to the seemingly endless massage. As for fun outside of the villa we went to DR Eco Adventures (aprox 40 mins back towards Puerto Plata) where we were greeted with cutting of a fresh coconut for each guest. We went ocean kayaking and horseback riding with the most informative, friendly guides. Between the activities they provided lunch and beverage. Dudu lagoon was a fun excursion that was fairly inexpensive (US$4 entry fee). There was a zipline approximately 7 meter into the 30-45 meter deep lagoon where they even had a lifeguard! The water was so clear you could see your toes and some people went scuba diving under the rocks where there was a cave. Dudu also had kayaking, caves and a restaurant. It was very clean and well landscaped which I found to be a trend in the DR. I ran out of space but I just want to say I will definately go back to Sunrise!"

  • AWESOME, AWESOME, AWESOME

"AWESOME awesome, awesome, Jimmy Buffet would be proud. There were 10 of us who stayed very comfortably at the Sea Dog Inn. We started to plan this trip in January 2014 and Chester was supportive, helpful, and provided so much information and reassurance for us. We travelled to the Sea Dog Inn on December21/2014 and stayed until January 4/2015. From the moment we landed in the Dominican, Chester had arranged for us to be picked up at the airport, driven to the Sea Dog Inn, where Natalia and her helpers had a wonderful meal prepared for us and made an amazing Christmas dinner for us. They kept the Sea Dog Inn clean, comfortable, and helped us with all our needs. Maximo greeted us with a warm Sea Dog Inn welcome. We enlisted Maximo’s instructions to learn to play the game of dominoes. All 10 of us were comfortable, and Felon assisted us with rental cars, and arranging us to meet contacts. Chester ensured our stay was perfect and had Nicole assist us with the language. All of us concluded best Family Vacation ever, and were so glad that the Sea Dog Inn was our travel destination. We would not consider staying anywhere else when we return to the Dominican. We so much appreciate all and staying at the Sea Dog Inn allowed us to experience life in Caberra, rather than staying in a hotel. We felt safe and were treated very respectfully in Caberra, I would recommend any gringos to stay at the Sea Dog Inn. There was plenty to do with awesome beaches very nearby, Natalia, and several restaurants provided us with gourmet meals. Upon arriving home, we have all decided to plan for our next Sea Dog Inn adventure."

  • A highly memorable trip!

"We just returned from the beautiful villa and have to say it was one of the MOST AMAZING vacations ever. We were 17 of us - 10 adults and 7 kids and there was ample room for all. The staff were wonderful and we were thoroughly pampered from morning to night. The food was outstanding and plentiful. Thank you Rupert, Felix, Felicita, Joel and all those who made this family reunion such a memorable one. The reasons I did not give it an Excellent rating is because the air conditioning did not work in half the rooms and despite us bringing this to the staff's attention on more than one occasion, they could not fix it. This resulted in many family members being uncomfortable at night due to the heat. I just feel for the price we paid we should have been able to get this resolved or been given some credit back on our stay. Other than that, no issues with the villa. Other watch-outs for future visitors - it is far from airports. Flights to Samana are more expensive and not as much choice of airlines. The drive from Santa Domingo is about 2-2.5 hours. Once we got there however, being remote did not bother us at all (in fact we enjoyed the privacy and lack of other tourists). Regarding the beach access below the villa - it is rocky and not ideal for swimming. There are beautiful beaches about 10-20 mins away that we ended up visiting but you need a car or taxi. Overall, a fantastic visit and I would highly recommend staying here. There is something for all ages. It will be hard to top this trip. Thank you Jason and family for sharing this place with us!"
