  • Amazing!!!

"This trip was to celebrate my sons graduation from high school. There was a total of 24 family members and that in itself was stressful, however, this could not have been more of an amazing trip! From the moment that we arrived we were totally pampered. Drinks and snacks were awaiting us as well as the staff taking care of all of our luggage and belongings. Thankfully before we arrived we decided in which order each family would pick there bedrooms. Honestly every room was beautiful so no one was disappointed. The house itself was incredible. The pool was stunning and the view literally took your breath away! Honestly there are no words that could describe the view. There were 12 adults and 12 children ages 8 months to 17. The staff was so accommodating to all of our needs. Every meal they made sure that there were kid friendly items that no matter what the adults ate there was something for the kids which was a huge plus. The food was outstanding! I still crave the avocado salad to this day. One meal was better than the next nd the snacks in between left you satisfied all day long. We did have Gabriel our concierge go out and get extra snacks for the kids as well as any spirits the adults requested. They did have to make several trips during our week stay but that was never an issue. The pool at the house was humongous and there were times that literally we were all in the pool at the same time and probably only took up 1/4 of the space. We took walks down to the beach which I have to say could be treacherous at times but totally worth checking out. The kids gathered shells and the beach was beautiful. We had massages on several days to which the therapists came right to the house. The kids kept busy on the video games and playing ping pong. Some of us went on ATV tours through the mountains as well as going to this amazing park that had zip lines and cliff jumping. Also we visited town and went to this pristine beach that the kids loved. Honestly I didn't know what to expect going into this vacation. There were so many of us going and I wanted to make sure everyone would enjoy themselves and by the end of the week nobody wanted to leave. The highlight of our trip was the bonfire on the beach that the staff put together for my sons celebration. A pig roast at the house and Caribbean festivities on the beach just made the trip! I would go back tomorrow if I could! You were so unbelievably relaxed at all times. This truly was a trip of a lifetime!!!"

  • Lush Sprawling Paradise on the Ocean's Edge

"We arrived to find the colorful establishment tucked behind a children’s school and a lush palm grove. Maximo, the innkeeper, greeted us graciously and maintained the same positive and helpful attitude throughout our stay. There were many sleeping rooms to choose from, three in the downstairs main house (one includes its own bathroom, the other two share a bathroom,) the luxurious master bedroom/spa bathroom upstairs offers a large and private sundeck, and then of course there is the smaller private cabana perched right on the ocean’s edge. The downstairs living room couch boast an elaborate train of pillows as well as a nice sound system and TV with ample stations. The Sea Dog is appropriately decorated with kitchy pirate and island themed flags, banners, and posters. The colors of the Sea Dog (seafoam green, salmon, and light yellow) compliment the surrounding flowers and the nearby ocean water. This brings me to the highlight of this fine Inn…. THE INFINITY POOL OVERLOOKING THE OCEAN! You can gradually walk into the warm pool like entering the sea and float around for hours or read a book under the man-made waterfall. When my young cousins arrived they were ecstatic over “la piscina” and spent all day splashing and playing on the multitude of pool floats. In my times out of the water I would lounge on one of the multiple lawn chairs or the sitting hammock. On my first day Maximo even cut me down a coconut and stuck a straw in it, the fresh coconut milk/water was delicious. The pool and patio not only offer a breathtaking view of the ocean and surrounding cliffs… there is a staircase down to your own private beach. It is a small rocky beach, and it is all yours, sometimes you can see boats, cruise ships, or lobster hunters out in the distance but no one comes ashore. Just a short drive from the Sea Dog are many local hotspots such as Playa Grande (the most stunning beach!,) a great tiki pizza place (2 for 1 on Wednesdays,) La Hotel Catalina (has a divine restaurant,) Manny’s (excellent bar and restaurant) and Lagoon Gri Gri (where you can take a boat ride through caves to a local beach.) At the Sea Dog there is a grill and a full kitchen, so you can also choose to eat every meal at home if you are not in the mood to explore or spend more money. The Sea Dog is a beautiful and affordable paradise in a gorgeous location, perfect for families or a zen getaway."

  • Hola - where to begin Casa Cabot...

"My son and i checked in at this beautiful thatched roof compound and ocean front retreat with great expectation of experiencing the authentic Dominican Republic lifestyle as I had heard Cabrera would offer in comparison to its neighboring islands and boy were these expectations met! We pulled up to the house and the first impression is simply picturesque standing under the enormous thatched roof built over the house's living room overlooking the infinity pool into the ocean which is literally 50 feet from the house - nothing beats that !! The air was fresh, the ocean breezes, sounds of the waves, open air living throughout the compound. Dominga was our cook for the vacation and she surprised us everyday with a new dish or dessert. Service was attentive and Dominga tried hard to please. She were very accommodating about the menu for the in-house meals and tried hard to find fun activities for my son(8) and myself. There are all manner of tours, activities and attractions available as well, like Kite-boarding, Windsurfing, whale watching, zip-lining, 4-wheelers and trips around the country to enjoy, too, if that is your preference. This house offers everything you need for an amazing quiet retreat and I am definitely coming back to stay here again and re-experience the friendliness of the people that resides on this island, the astounding and unspoiled nature and beaches and the rare tranquility that is just so hard to find in today's hectic everyday life. Great spot altogether for a vacation! - a truly remarkable experience in today's world!!"

  • A highly memorable trip!

"We just returned from the beautiful villa and have to say it was one of the MOST AMAZING vacations ever. We were 17 of us - 10 adults and 7 kids and there was ample room for all. The staff were wonderful and we were thoroughly pampered from morning to night. The food was outstanding and plentiful. Thank you Rupert, Felix, Felicita, Joel and all those who made this family reunion such a memorable one. The reasons I did not give it an Excellent rating is because the air conditioning did not work in half the rooms and despite us bringing this to the staff's attention on more than one occasion, they could not fix it. This resulted in many family members being uncomfortable at night due to the heat. I just feel for the price we paid we should have been able to get this resolved or been given some credit back on our stay. Other than that, no issues with the villa. Other watch-outs for future visitors - it is far from airports. Flights to Samana are more expensive and not as much choice of airlines. The drive from Santa Domingo is about 2-2.5 hours. Once we got there however, being remote did not bother us at all (in fact we enjoyed the privacy and lack of other tourists). Regarding the beach access below the villa - it is rocky and not ideal for swimming. There are beautiful beaches about 10-20 mins away that we ended up visiting but you need a car or taxi. Overall, a fantastic visit and I would highly recommend staying here. There is something for all ages. It will be hard to top this trip. Thank you Jason and family for sharing this place with us!"
