A true Oasis !
"Where do I begin? I just returned from Villa Barranca a few days ago and all I can is that it's truly a magical place! It was a friends getway / birthday celebration of 10. From the moment we drove up and was greeted by the gracious stay (which I will discuss later), the walking through the semi-courtyard setting into the villa, it was like a dream. The pictures do not do this place justice - you MUST see and experience it for yourself. The floorplan is so open and perfectly laid out to get everyone space to breath and roam around, yet interact at the same time. The best feature is by far the outside pool / entertainment area - WOW! WOW! WOW! So much seating and beautiful lounge areas - dining at the detached gazebo was amazing. The pool was so large and prestine and the jacuzzi was like heaven. The yard sits on the golf course, but it's so large and private that you would never know. Pedro does a fantastic job keeping the grounds and was so helpful with other things. You will love him. Maria (the cook) and Anna (the housekeeper) were absolute dreams. They were so professional, yet so much fun their presence added another element to our vaction that we were not expecting. All three were simply a joy to have around. I already miss Maria's morning pancakes served poolside. I have traveled many places and have stayed in many vacation rentals (with staff), but Villa Barrance is by far one of the BEST!!! Philippe (the owner) was wonderful and so easy to work with as well. Thank you again Philippe for use of your beautiful villa. We cannot wait to return in the future!!!"

"We stayed at this condo for a week and had an excellent time. The owners were a pleasure to work with, gave us good advice on where to eat and things to do, and were prompt in responding and returning our security deposit. They offered to arrange for pick up from the airport but we were renting a car for other reasons so we did not take advantage of it.
The condo has a living area facing the beach and then two nicely separated bedrooms, each with a bath. It is ideal for two couples.
The condo is in a very good location, perhaps 100 feet from the beach. Being on the second story was a plus as it provided better breezes and better views of the beach. The sound of the waves was a relaxing background to our entire vacation. The front of the unit has full width sliding glass doors opening onto a covered porch, where we spent essentially all our time. In our opinion, this condo was one of the most ideally situated of all the units in the complex. Every day we walked the beach, which was one of the highlights of our trip.
The complex is probably three quarters of a mile from the center of Cabarete, and it is possible to walk there on the beach, the last quarter mile is a trail along the bluff. Cabarete has a nice grocery store (Janets) and a bunch of good restaurants. There is also a nice restaurant (Martinis) perhaps a quarter mile in the other direction right on the beach.
The condo is in a fairly laid back area. We saw a number of older couples, young couples and young couples with children. Most of the wind and kite sailing is closer to downtown Cabarete. There are a number of companies that offer activities such as diving, zip lines, the 27 waterfalls, wind surfing, etc, and they will all pick you up at the condo, so a car is not really needed.
We did some diving and highly recommend Dive Cabarete; they were excellent. All the diving is from Sosua, a town about 15 minutes away (but the Dive shops will pick you up).
All in all, this is a great place to stay and I highly recommend it.
A couple of things to note: The wifi log in information is actually on the cable box on the TV. We had to hunt for it. There is no laundry in the unit, but there is free laundry in a building off of the parking lot."

"Nous sommes demeuré 4 semaines. Dans le condo il y a toutes les facilitées. Balcon intime alors nous avons pris tout nos repas sur le balcon. Le condo est à une minute de marche de la plage. La plage est bien. Nous avons passé des moments très agréable à la piscine en compagnie des autres locataires sur le site. Plusieurs bon restaurants à Costambar donc pas besoin d'automobile......"

"We arrived to find the colorful establishment tucked behind a children’s school and a lush palm grove. Maximo, the innkeeper, greeted us graciously and maintained the same positive and helpful attitude throughout our stay. There were many sleeping rooms to choose from, three in the downstairs main house (one includes its own bathroom, the other two share a bathroom,) the luxurious master bedroom/spa bathroom upstairs offers a large and private sundeck, and then of course there is the smaller private cabana perched right on the ocean’s edge. The downstairs living room couch boast an elaborate train of pillows as well as a nice sound system and TV with ample stations. The Sea Dog is appropriately decorated with kitchy pirate and island themed flags, banners, and posters. The colors of the Sea Dog (seafoam green, salmon, and light yellow) compliment the surrounding flowers and the nearby ocean water. This brings me to the highlight of this fine Inn…. THE INFINITY POOL OVERLOOKING THE OCEAN! You can gradually walk into the warm pool like entering the sea and float around for hours or read a book under the man-made waterfall. When my young cousins arrived they were ecstatic over “la piscina” and spent all day splashing and playing on the multitude of pool floats. In my times out of the water I would lounge on one of the multiple lawn chairs or the sitting hammock. On my first day Maximo even cut me down a coconut and stuck a straw in it, the fresh coconut milk/water was delicious. The pool and patio not only offer a breathtaking view of the ocean and surrounding cliffs… there is a staircase down to your own private beach. It is a small rocky beach, and it is all yours, sometimes you can see boats, cruise ships, or lobster hunters out in the distance but no one comes ashore. Just a short drive from the Sea Dog are many local hotspots such as Playa Grande (the most stunning beach!,) a great tiki pizza place (2 for 1 on Wednesdays,) La Hotel Catalina (has a divine restaurant,) Manny’s (excellent bar and restaurant) and Lagoon Gri Gri (where you can take a boat ride through caves to a local beach.) At the Sea Dog there is a grill and a full kitchen, so you can also choose to eat every meal at home if you are not in the mood to explore or spend more money. The Sea Dog is a beautiful and affordable paradise in a gorgeous location, perfect for families or a zen getaway."
