  • Cofresi Beach Accommodations and Owner Are Amazing!

"We were lucky enough to hear about this owner during the summer of 2013. We wanted to get our families together for the holidays, and unfortunately, you have to rent about a year in advance to get a Villa for Christmas. But because the owner is a Shareholder, he was able to get us connecting Jr. Suites on the Beach at Cofresi Palms, which is the newer area of Lifestyle Vacations Resort. From the moment I first contacted him, we were treated with respect and had great service. The booking and payment was easy through Roman. We paid him for the room, and paid for the mandatory all inclusive once we arrived at the Resort and were assigned our VIP front desk person. The Front Desk staff of the Resort at Cofresi Palms took over with the excellent service once we arrived. We asked for building 40 or 41, which is not guaranteed, but we did get building 40, and were thrilled with the location and size of the unit. Of course the activities that Shareholdes can offer is better than you could ever expect to have during a first visit. We paid just a bit extra for the gold VIP wristbands and were treated exactly like that from the moment we arrived. It makes no sense to go to this amazing place without the VIP perks because they are vastly different that not VIP. The VIP concierges, Carol and Alexandra were amazing, we were set up with dinner reservations immediately, liquor was ordered at no extra fee, all we had to do was go pick it up and take it to our room. The Lifestyle Holidays Vacation Resort, of which Cofresi Palms resort is a part, is quite something. We feel like we know most of the staff now, and would not hesitate to go back and bring so many of them home with us. Roman, the owner, is a wonderful person to deal with, and each time anything challenging was presented to him during our stay, he reacted quickly and with kindness and professionalism. I have been to this resort 3 times now, and would only rent through this vrbo family. Even Roman's Mom was emailing me since she was at the resort during our expected arrival. And when the winter storms hit the East Coast of New York and all flights were canceled , we were forced to change our plans and stay another 10 days. Roman was great getting us back into Lifestyle, although after New Years, Cofresi Palms was not available at the last minute. But he found us a nice room in the resort which suited our needs. Thanks Roman, I will recommend you to everyone I know."

  • Wonderful home away from home!

"We stayed here in 2012 for a month. This year (2014) we returned for another month. It was a comfortable, clean apartment in 2012 and this year it was even better with the improvements that Tom, the owner, has done. We enjoy our time on the beach...only minutes away...and our time in the pool. The numerous restaurants and bars in Costambar are excellent serving Dominican, Canadian, Italian and German fare at reasonable prices. We ate most breakfasts and some dinners at the apartment but eating out is so reasonable we took advantage of being spoiled. The kitchen is very well stocked with cooking equipment and the local corner store is very accommodating if you choose to eat all of your meals in. The apartment and property is very clean and well maintained by Myrium and management."

  • Our excellent Dominican Vacation

"Our family just spent a wonderful and relaxing week at the Villa. What's not to like? The house is roomy (4 bedrooms), spotlessly clean, well maintained, decorated beautifully in warm tropical colors and with authentic Dominican artwork, and best of all it sits right on the ocean in a gated community an easy drive from the Puerto Plata airport. The ocean view from the very private backyard is fantastic. A two minute walk brings you to a drop dead gorgeous crescent-shaped beach with calm shallow waters. Any number of exceptional restaurants are a short drive away. Heartily recommend!"

Puerto Plata Travel Tips

Getting to Puerto Plata Vacation Rentals

Puerto Plata is located on the Dominican Republic in the Caribbean. The island has three international airports--one at Puerto Plata, one at Santiago and the other at Santo Domingo. The Puerto Plata Gregorio Luperon International Airport is located between the towns of Puerto Plata and Sosua. It is a quick 15-minute drive from either town to the airport. The easiest way to get to and from the airport is by taxi. Alternatively, you can also rent a vehicle for the duration of your stay. The international airport hosts carriers from North America and Europe. There are regularly scheduled flights from most major hubs in the U.S. and Europe.

Puerto Plata Travel Attractions

A good way to orientate yourself to the island’s attractions is to take a guided tour of the island. Your tour guide will be able to provide you with a narration of the island’s history and highlight the most famous landmarks. Get a glimpse into the local culture when you pass through the villages. The San Felipe Fort near Puerto Plata is one of the few remaining colonial landmarks. You can also stop in at the local cigar factory where the local craftsmen roll as many as 300 cigars a day.

The Ocean World Adventure Park, Marina and Casino is the largest entertainment complex on the island. Possibly its greatest attraction is the opportunity for visitors to swim with dolphins. For people that enjoy the bright lights, the center offers entertainment and gambling late into the night. For a beautiful panoramic view of Puerto Plata, take the cable car to the top of Mount Isabel.

The beaches are possibly Puerto Plata’s greatest beauty. Soft white sands that stretch for miles and tourist facilities line the beachfront, providing refreshments and recreation to visitors. The main beach is known as long beach and has a house reef which can be reached when the tides are right for snorkeling and diving.

Travelers to Puerto Plata Villas

Puerto Plata attracts travelers who enjoy the sunshine and island lifestyle as well as a range of beach activities. The Dominican Republic is well known for its friendly locals and great island vibe. There are many night spots where you can experience the local sounds and culture. The merengue dance and music are unique to the island and easy to learn. Many travelers love to let their hair down and join in with the Latin rhythms. Visitors who enjoy the ocean will have loads to keep them entertained at Puerto Plata. From January to April, humpback whales use the island's shallows to mate and give birth to their young. Whale watching excursions can take you to see these gentle giants. Scuba diving is another of the island’s great attractions and divers come from far and wide to dive the beautiful reefs and warm tropical waters.

Best Time of Year to Travel to Dominican Republic Vacation Rentals

The Dominican Republic has a tropical and subtropical climate which results in year-round warm temperatures. The seasonal difference is related to the amount of humidity and rain that occurs. The rainy season occurs between May and October. On the days that it doesn’t rain, humidity remains high, making it feel even hotter. Between November and April is the dryer season when days are pleasantly warm and nights remain balmy. The most popular tourist season is during December and January and at this time of year, the resorts can get quite crowded. Depending on whether you enjoy bustling crowds or a quieter traveling season, you can choose when to travel to Dominican Republic vacation rentals.
