Best Ocean Breezes
"When we booked a trip to the caribbean for June we hadn't thought of the heat. This was a non issue for this great home. The cross breeze going through the home was the best. We were never hot. All the bedrooms have air conditioning and each works really well. The house itself is very spacious and fully equipt with linens, towels, all kitchen items you could need and they have even thought to keep sunblock and bug spray in the house in case you forget. We made plans ahead of time for transportation from the Puerto Plata airport. The driver was recommended to us from Allen and he couldn't have been nicer. Although he is not an official tour guide he knows everyone and everything in tihs part of the DR. We did rent a car for the later part of the trip. I only recommend renting a car after you have been out a few times and got the lay of the land and definitely get the GPS. Jennys is the market in Costambar which will get you the basics. La Sirena is a walmart like store which has the most options. We discovered the store once we had the rent a car and will be making this our first stop during our next visit.
Every day we took a morning walk around the neighborhood. It is beautiful. First we walked along the beach and then weaved in and out of all the streets to admire the architecture and landscapes of the homes. We also saw roosters and horses on all our walks. We had breakfast at home and then ventured out for lunch and dinner. We went to some of the restaurants Allen recommended and they were all great. A few nights we stayed in costambar and enjoyed the local restaurants. Out of Costambar Tres Cocos was by far my favorite and for authentic dominican food go to the mofungo king in sosua on the beach. You won't be disappointed.
Last but not least is Isidro the property manager. Isidro came by every day to check on us and make sure everything was going smoothly. He is such a kind man and since we have never had a vacation like this where we rented a home for the week, he made us feel comfortable and at home.
For those who like to keep their options open this charming vacation renatal is a great choice if you like to be on tyour own schedule"

"Our experience with the Villa Dawn was an awesome experience. Ronda was awesome with helping us make our trip a success. The Villa is in a very great location. We walked the beach every day and walked up to town via the beach. The Villa is very clean and very quite. We loved sitting on the porch in the morning listening to the birds and watching the beautiful sunrise. Thank you Ronda"

"I'd highly recommend Ocean Dream for anyone who wants to get away from the resort feel and hang out in a town that has a ton of activities to do right at your fingertips. The condo is about 1000 feet away from the beach that is super lovely with a long beach, warm water and gentle waves.
This is a great place to book for several reasons:
1. Convenient - walk to a bunch of different restaurants either on the beach or the main road. There is a supermercado right down the way and cabs/scooters right outside the complex.
2. Easy to find - right off the main road and in walking distance of downtown.
2. Safe - 24/7 security in and around the premise. Very nice staff.
3. Amenities - the condo itself is very nice and has a patio that overlooks the pool. The beds were comfortable and the place comes with a ton of dishes, pots and pants, and cooking utensils.
4. Affordable - who can beat the price?!
I'd happily stay here again, definitely worth it."

"We arrived to find the colorful establishment tucked behind a children’s school and a lush palm grove. Maximo, the innkeeper, greeted us graciously and maintained the same positive and helpful attitude throughout our stay. There were many sleeping rooms to choose from, three in the downstairs main house (one includes its own bathroom, the other two share a bathroom,) the luxurious master bedroom/spa bathroom upstairs offers a large and private sundeck, and then of course there is the smaller private cabana perched right on the ocean’s edge. The downstairs living room couch boast an elaborate train of pillows as well as a nice sound system and TV with ample stations. The Sea Dog is appropriately decorated with kitchy pirate and island themed flags, banners, and posters. The colors of the Sea Dog (seafoam green, salmon, and light yellow) compliment the surrounding flowers and the nearby ocean water. This brings me to the highlight of this fine Inn…. THE INFINITY POOL OVERLOOKING THE OCEAN! You can gradually walk into the warm pool like entering the sea and float around for hours or read a book under the man-made waterfall. When my young cousins arrived they were ecstatic over “la piscina” and spent all day splashing and playing on the multitude of pool floats. In my times out of the water I would lounge on one of the multiple lawn chairs or the sitting hammock. On my first day Maximo even cut me down a coconut and stuck a straw in it, the fresh coconut milk/water was delicious. The pool and patio not only offer a breathtaking view of the ocean and surrounding cliffs… there is a staircase down to your own private beach. It is a small rocky beach, and it is all yours, sometimes you can see boats, cruise ships, or lobster hunters out in the distance but no one comes ashore. Just a short drive from the Sea Dog are many local hotspots such as Playa Grande (the most stunning beach!,) a great tiki pizza place (2 for 1 on Wednesdays,) La Hotel Catalina (has a divine restaurant,) Manny’s (excellent bar and restaurant) and Lagoon Gri Gri (where you can take a boat ride through caves to a local beach.) At the Sea Dog there is a grill and a full kitchen, so you can also choose to eat every meal at home if you are not in the mood to explore or spend more money. The Sea Dog is a beautiful and affordable paradise in a gorgeous location, perfect for families or a zen getaway."
