Punta Cana Travel Tips

Best Time of Year to Visit Punta Cana Vacation Rentals

Punta Cana is part of the Dominican Republic which is located in the Caribbean. Because of its location, the island enjoys a mild tropical year-round climate. There isn’t much different between the summer and winter temperatures which make it an ideal year-round destination. The cooler season occurs between November and April. Days are still wonderfully warm and there is moderately less humidity and rainfall. In the warmer season, the days can get quite hot. While there is not a significant difference in the actual temperature range, the higher levels of humidity make it feel as though it’s that much warmer. Summer is also characterized by isolated rain showers and tropical storms which occur between June and November

Punta Cana Travel Tips

There are eight international airports within the Dominican Republic. Punta Cana International Airport is the most convenient as it is just 10 to 30 minutes via car from most resorts and hotels in the region. The airport is served by most North American and European carriers as well as a number of regional airlines. If you are unable to get a flight into Punta Cana International Airport, your next best option would be La Romana International Airport which is approximately 1.5 hours away. To get from the airport to your resort or vacation home in Punta Cana, you can arrange a transfer with a local tour operator, make use of a taxi or rent a car for the duration of your stay. Some resorts offer a complimentary shuttle service. The taxis are unionized and work on a standard rate for one to five people. They tend to be the more expensive transport option on the island. For a bit of luxury, you can treat yourself to helicopter transfers.
