  • A Week in Paradise!

"We had a FABULOUS week at Tiki and loved every second of it. The week was everything we hoped it would be -- and more. What a beautiful, unique, amazing home the owners have built. I have never seen anything like it. We felt like we were staying in a 5-star resort, only we were the only guests! We loved relaxing in the back, around the pool, each and every day. The weather was perfect. We saw so many whales. Our 9 year old son spent hours stalking and catching lizards in the gardens. We had massages arranged by Delila on two separate days -- heavenly. The men went spear fishing right off the beach in front of the house with a guide who Gabriel hooked them up with. They thought it was the best thing ever. They caught tons of fish, plus an octopus and a crab, which Dominga cooked for us in various delightful ways. Speaking of Dominga, she was wonderful. So kind to the children! And we had a lot of fun with her, too. Her cooking was DELICIOUS and she surprised us with new dishes at every meal (which was different from our experience in the Dominican last year, when the cook basically made the same rice, beans, plantains, and chicken or shrimp or fish at every meal!). She was so flexible and so ready to do whatever we wanted. We tried hard to get her to take a day off, but instead it seemed like she started cooking for us 3 meals a day instead of 2 toward the end of the week. (Don't worry, we were happy to give her a cash gift at the end of the week.) Also our daughter turned 6 while we were there, and Dominga got the most beautiful pink iced cake for her. Margaret was thrilled! The other staff was so nice as well and we have nothing but rave reviews for everyone. Mildred was so sweet. As was Gabriel. We really didn't venture out from Casa Cabot very often, basically because we were so happy and content to sit by the pool or in the hammock and read or play cards or games. We did go to Playa Grande one day, and we went to check out DuDu blue lagoon one afternoon and found another private beach near there where we stopped on the way back. All excursions were good. We have rented luxury homes all over the world -- Tuscany, Provence, New Zealand -- and this vacation home was right up there as one of the most beautiful, relaxing places we have ever been. We will be back!"

  • Great experience!!

"The house, staff, amenities and facilities are just as advertised. The house is easy to get to and is very clean. Marta (the cook/cleaning lady) was very helpful and friendly. You need to bring your own food and drinks to the house in order for her to prepare what you need, and if she doesn't know how to cook it, she's very willing to learn. We had some blackouts, but the inverter they have in the house makes all electric appliances keep working, so you don't even feel it. Water heater worked well. There are good restaurants just a few miles close to the house, as well as small convenience stores for stuff you forget to bring. The pool is very clean and has good temperature. The beach also has a nice feel to it, but the beginning of it is really rocky, so water slippers are recommended. There's plenty of space for big groups to spread in the house and around the property. We were a party of 11 (including children) and everyone felt comfortable and had a blast. The house has cable and it has many channels available, however, most of them are in Spanish. The house has wifi, but it can get slow if two or more computers try to connect at the same time. The owner was always very responsive to our questions before, during and after the trip, very friendly and reliable. Electricity is paid separate from the cost of the house and depends on how much you spend during your stay (we spent about US$ 50 for 3 nights and 4 days). I would recommend this place 100%!"

  • An Ideal Vacation

"Our first impression was positive. When we entered the grounds, we were greeted with a beautifully maintained property. The unit is all you can ask for - the views of the ocean from the living area and the master bedroom are magnificent, the furniture is very up-to-date, and new appliances had been installed in the kitchen the day before our arrival. Both bedrooms and the living area have TVs and DVD players. There are plenty of DVDs and books to choose from. Wayne and Kim have made sure to create a very comfortable and desirable atmosphere for their guests. In addition, Wayne and Kim were kind enough to recommend places of interest and local restaurants in Cabarete that helped us make the vacation a 10. Cabarete was great - beaches, restaurants on the beach, activities and music can be found throughout the town. We plan to vacation in the DR again."
