  • Villa Fabulous!

"We researched our next Spring Break vacation until we found the perfect spot in Villa Gordon. Hidden away between Sosua and Cabarete was a little community of 10+ homes, a hotel, and an amazing restaurant all behind a guarded gate. This beach house was perfect for our extended family of 11 to visit and hang out for the week. With the four bedrooms off to the left side and the main house with two master suites, living room, dining room, and kitchen was a great place to stay for our first trip to the DR. Watch the videos Gordon sends you before you come, it will help a bit. Enjoy the comfy couches outside with 'Mini' the sweet, sweet kitty who sits on your lap. The pool gets shaded in the afternoon. The ocean right outside is dangerous but walk to the point on the right (AFTER the big rock) and it's shallow a good ways out, or go past the 3rd surf camp (10m walk) to where there are no rocks, gentle swells, and perfect waves for your kids. Or if you surf, rent a board! The life guard walking the beach was a bonus! Franklin (one of the best parts of the trip) picked us up from the airport and was our taxi the whole week. Johanny and Cathy, our maids for the week, were very industrious and hard workers and... they made breakfast for us EVERY single morning. It was heaven. Make sure your kitchen is stocked. For extra you can get a house-keepers lunch and everything was so good. Cons - Just a few! - Biggest problem was the wifi. They were not reliable at all. At. All. Chez Arsenio had a much stronger connection and it was sad the way we ran over there to download our email, or a book on our Kindle. The bedrooms do not get it at all (planned that way). The living room goes out every other day so you can't stream Pandora to the music speakers. - It's a typical beach house. It's a comfy house and perfect for all of us to lounge in but there is wear and tear in the house. The water filter spout was broken and hard to get water out of. One of the couches outside was a little worn down (like too many people sat in one particular spot). The outdoor plastic chairs, wooden chairs, and lounges were uncomfortable. - Buy extra toilet paper! :) - We got a little sick, even though the water was filtered. Be sure to talk to Anne about stocking the house with food. She is AWESOME! Go to Chez Arsenio! Happy Hour! - Monkey Jungle - Cabarete Beach - FAV! - 27 Waterfalls Have a great time! I would type more but I'm being cut off in my review! :)"

  • Couldn't ask for anything more

"We rented this villa for 18 people and had such a peaceful, wonderful experience. I equate it to renting out a small resort and not having to share it with others. You get personal attention from the wonderful Ariel Perez who is there to answer any and all questions you may have. He is an extremely friendly and genuine man that values customer service and ensures the guests are comfortable. The customer facing staff is amazing. Chef Ozzy makes sure to gather your input about meals and will execute your menu flawlessly. The wait staff of Raymundo and Ramos are attentive, extremely polite, and fun. The staff was engaging and made an effort to get to know us. The back office staff always ensured we had fresh towels and toiletries and that rooms were always clean. We have absolutely no complaints about the staff, genuinely appreciated their efforts and company. Honestly, the staff is great, but the best part is really the villa. It literally is a small resort. The pool is big and deep. Great for swimming and floating around. There is a kiddie pool which is also quite large, but no one spent any time in it. The hot tub is AMAZING. Grab a couple of beers and some good company and you can waste away the night looking at the stars, listening to the ocean, and talking story. The property is on the ocean, and only a 5, sometimes 10 foot jump away. Be daring, the ocean looks rough, but it's not as bad as it looks. The tennis court is great and has night lights. The veranda is where everyone spends so much time and is a perfect area for meals and lounging. It's a treat to live like this, even only for just a few day. We were luckily enough to spend time with friends and family in this wonderful place. It's a place we would love to visit again, and one we regret having to leave. Cheers to Deena, Ariel, and the entire staff for the wonderful hospitality."

  • Great Place

"We stayed at the Stanza Mare for a week in March. It was one of our most fabulous vacations. Steve the owner, and Ives the property manager were easy to work with. Ives does an incredible job in making your stay great. I would highly recommend one of Ives excursions, we had a lot of fun and he goes out of his way to make sure that everything goes well. The condo was just as it looks in the pictures, nothing fancy but very comfortable. We enjoyed the beautiful beach and pool. Everything was clean and you can walk for miles and never find the end of the beach. We felt very safe there, they have security 24 hours a day. We especially liked the security guard named Junior. He worked during the day, he didn't speak English, but we both did our best to communicate. He even came to say goodbye to us on the day we had to leave. We found many good restaurants around the area. Our favorites were Balicana (Asian), Pastrata, DeAngelos Pizzeria, Nam, Nams-they had the best hamburgers. We went to Gary's sports Bar to watch the NCAA basketball games, and the bakery had the most delicious crossiants. We felt very safe there and did a lot of walking, but we also took the local bus to the grocery store one day it cost us around 60 cents. We had a wonderful time and can not wait to go back. It is also good to keep in mind that you are on island time when you are here, so relax and have fun!"

  • My favorite place in Las Galeras!

"I have stayed in Casa Dorado many times, and it never disappoints. The house is gorgeous, situated in a quiet location with easy access (short walking distance) to the center of town and La Playita. Cathereine, the owner, gives excellent recommendations for things to do and see in the area--she is a wonderful host! The house has many cozy places to hang out and relax after a long day at the beach, and includes a well-equipped kitchen to cook with a group or sample the amazing food that can be served by the staff. Highly recommended!"
