  • Relaxing stay

"Just got back from a very relaxing stay. We very much enjoyed the peace and quiet this location provided we pretty much had the whole place to ourselves. There were a few minor issues but nothing that would keep us from coming back again. Could use some new sheets and maid service would be nice I did not check to see if that could have been added so that is my fault. Many great places to eat close by or a short drive away. Really loved the Tukka restaurant and Kiabo. The private pool was a nice way to cool off. Great place for couples."

  • A place to relax

"My wife and I came here to relax. We had the beach only 3 minutes away walking. This is the perfect location to have a romantic get away or bring the family. With enough space for everyone's to sleep and with quiet neighbors you will feel at peace. The area is very secure and gated. You are only 30 minutes from San Juan and all the wonderful things it has. Going to other areas of the island is easy to with a great highway system that is very close to the house. I recommend this location to anyone going to Puerto Rico. Price is excellent too."

  • Our most relaxing vacation ever!

"We look forward to staying at the Stonehouse again! This was the most relaxing vacation we have ever been on and the Larimar unit was perfect for the two of us. There are so many wonderful and thoughtful features at the Stonehouse...from the beautiful plants & landscaping to the complimentary snorkel gear, beach bags and beach chairs we had everything we needed and much more. With a quick trip to the local grocery store (thanks Robert & Joanie!) we stocked up on breakfast and lunch items and walked down the road for dinner at Secret Harbour Beach. After visiting other beaches on St. Thomas, we quickly discovered we had the best beach right down the road (only a 10 minute walk!). We were glad we didn't rent a car since taxis are always available to take you to other beaches/hot spots on St. Thomas and we were especially glad since we spent most of our time at Secret Harbour Beach anyway. I was also amazed by all of the friendly little creatures at the Stonehouse...loved seeing the hummingbirds, iguanas, small lizards and birds & even deer in the garden right outside our front door and private deck. The privacy here is amazing! If you are looking for a fun and relaxing vacation, this is the place!"

  • Wonderful Time at Stella Di Mare

"We were a group of 8 friends that rented for a week. Victor (the caretaker) was awesome. He handled all of our questions, booked our trips, and helped with our endless questions. He knows the area very well and is an incredible resource to take advantage of. He’s a great guy and cares a ton about making his guests happy. We went to Hol Chan, Caye Caulker, cave tubing, sailed with SeaDuced and took kayaks to the reef a few times. The reef was also amazing…and its only 10 minutes in front of the villa. There were plenty of chairs and lounges, plus a hammock that we lazed in and loved. We had an awesome time and plan to come back!"

Guadeloupe Travel Tips

Traveling to Guadeloupe Vacation Rentals

The main airport is located on the southwestern corner of Basse-Terre, two miles from Point á Pitre. The airport hosts a variety of European and North American airlines and has two international terminals. There are direct flights from Paris and New York City. If you are looking for alternative flight routing, you could look into traveling via San Juan on Puerto Rico. There are several ferries and private yacht charters that operate between Guadeloupe and neighboring islands in the Caribbean.

Best Time of Year to Visit Guadeloupe Villas

Guadeloupe is a group of French-governed islands located in the eastern part of the Caribbean. They are sometimes referred to as the butterfly islands because the two largest islands, when viewed together from the air, resemble the shape of a butterfly's wings. The islands have a typically tropical climate with little temperature variation between the seasons. The more differentiating factor is the humidity and rainfall. In the summer months, high levels of humidity and frequent rain showers make the temperatures feel hotter. Occasional tropical storms are also common, bringing heavy rain and strong winds. The cyclone season is also typically the low tourist season and this occurs mostly in August and September. From December through April, the air is drier and temperatures therefore feel more moderate. This is most commonly the peak tourist season.

Visitors to Guadeloupe Resort Rentals

Because Guadeloupe is a French foreign territory, the primary local language is French. This therefore attracts many French Canadians and European travelers. It is a vacation destination that has an almost sophisticated air about it, even though it is a tropical island destination. The main cities have high-class shopping malls and the streets resemble those of mainland France. However, when you travel to more remote parts of the island, you can discover a wealth of natural treasures. It is certainly a destination for sun lovers and people who enjoy sandy white beaches and swaying palm trees. Guadeloupe is known for its vibrant nightlife. Local festivals are usually all-night street parties. It is a trendy vacation destination that attracts movie stars and celebrities, especially to the elite island of St. Barthelemy.

Attractions and Activities near Caribbean Vacation Rentals in Guadeloupe

Guadeloupe has a wealth of natural attractions. Beautiful beaches are what the destination is known for but its natural attractions extend far beyond that. The rainforests are thick and home to many plant and animal species. The island of Basse-Terre has rugged volcanic terrain and is home to the Caribbean's tallest waterfall. The adjacent island of Grand-Terre has a gentler, more undulating landscape. Some of the smaller uninhabited islands are still relatively wild and untamed. The Guadeloupe National Park has more than 180 miles of marked trails that visitors can explore. For birdwatching enthusiasts, you can take an excursion to the mangrove swamps on Grand-Terre and see many different bird species here.

If you are more adventurous, you can take a hike to the top of La Soufriere. This active volcano last made rumblings in 1976. The hike is strenuous and takes approximately 90 minutes to reach the top. Guadeloupe is surrounded by amazing coral reefs and it is ranked as one of the top 10 dive sites in the world. Diving conditions are calm, and the coral and marine life are abundant. Eating out in Guadeloupe is an experience. The cuisine is a blend of island and European flavors that will delight the palate. There are many beach bars and nightclubs where you can enjoy some tasty local rum cocktails.
