  • Wonderful home with views

"We really enjoyed our stay at Villa Alamandra. The home is spacious, beautiful and well maintained. We spent many hours on the terrace enjoying the view and using the pool. We had a car rental which was really necessary as the villa is in a more remote area of the island. The roads to Turtle beach are really bad so a bit tricky to drive at night. The villa is up a steep hill- a car with good pickup will be needed. The beach nearby is a bit too weedy and rough for swimming but it is an easy walk to Cockleshell beach which is very nice for swimming. We were disappointed that the Beach House restaurant is no longer open to the public so there are no options for dinner within walking distance. We did enjoy the Spice Mill (short drive) and Salt Plage near by. I would recommend the villa as a lovely place to stay."

  • Catherineberg is our favorite

"We travel to St John annually and have tried many locations on the island. We prefer the less populated areas and Catherineberg wins our vote for best location. Cinnamon Tarn has the perfect layout for two couples with the bedrooms situated on either end of the living area for privacy. The bathrooms are great with large garden showers. In the past we have rented a house with a pool but have found that the water is usually too cold to enjoy. The hot tub was a great alternative. We loved watching the boat traffic in Francis Bay and Drake's channel. To do so I recommend that you bring binoculars. The kitchen had everything we needed (we cooked in several times to enjoy the view) and the laundry room was a bonus for those of us who travel lightly. The road to get to the house is a little rough but definitely worth the drive. Any issues that we had were handled promptly by Mark and staff. Looking forward to next year."

  • Perfect family spring break getaway

"We stayed here for a week and had a wonderful time. Our children are 10 and 8. The house was perfectly located near the beach. House was clean and was lit up when we arrived. Aguadilla is a great surf town. We stopped at grocery store for food and had breakfast and nightcaps on the awesome rooftop deck with ocean views. We packed lunches and beer in a cooler each day and headed to Jobos beach. The,beach was beauTiful. Water so clear and we had so much fun collecting sea glass. We went on a 2 hour horseback back riding tour at Tropical Trail rides. The ride and scenery was beautiful. The weather was 85 and sunny every day. We rented a car and took a trip to el yunque rainforest in San Juan. It was a 2 hour drive. After a brutal New York winter this was a great getaway that gives you a feel for the local PR culture. Recommend: Kai, TBC, onetenthai for meals. Ola Lolas for happy hour. Great vacation. Will come Back."

  • A Little Bit Of Heaven!

"Words simply cannot describe our amazing stay! The accommodations were wonderful. As others have said, the Guesthouse and entire property are perfect. The pictures give you just a glimpse of what you will experience. The view is phenomenal, everything we needed for a day at the beach was provided, the owner was genuinely friendly and accommodating and went out of his way to answer any question we had and make our stay a very special occasion. You do need a car as it would be quite a walk to the road but Red Hook is right down the road and there are many great restaurants. We highly recommend a stay here!"

Guadeloupe Travel Tips

Traveling to Guadeloupe Vacation Rentals

The main airport is located on the southwestern corner of Basse-Terre, two miles from Point á Pitre. The airport hosts a variety of European and North American airlines and has two international terminals. There are direct flights from Paris and New York City. If you are looking for alternative flight routing, you could look into traveling via San Juan on Puerto Rico. There are several ferries and private yacht charters that operate between Guadeloupe and neighboring islands in the Caribbean.

Best Time of Year to Visit Guadeloupe Villas

Guadeloupe is a group of French-governed islands located in the eastern part of the Caribbean. They are sometimes referred to as the butterfly islands because the two largest islands, when viewed together from the air, resemble the shape of a butterfly's wings. The islands have a typically tropical climate with little temperature variation between the seasons. The more differentiating factor is the humidity and rainfall. In the summer months, high levels of humidity and frequent rain showers make the temperatures feel hotter. Occasional tropical storms are also common, bringing heavy rain and strong winds. The cyclone season is also typically the low tourist season and this occurs mostly in August and September. From December through April, the air is drier and temperatures therefore feel more moderate. This is most commonly the peak tourist season.

Visitors to Guadeloupe Resort Rentals

Because Guadeloupe is a French foreign territory, the primary local language is French. This therefore attracts many French Canadians and European travelers. It is a vacation destination that has an almost sophisticated air about it, even though it is a tropical island destination. The main cities have high-class shopping malls and the streets resemble those of mainland France. However, when you travel to more remote parts of the island, you can discover a wealth of natural treasures. It is certainly a destination for sun lovers and people who enjoy sandy white beaches and swaying palm trees. Guadeloupe is known for its vibrant nightlife. Local festivals are usually all-night street parties. It is a trendy vacation destination that attracts movie stars and celebrities, especially to the elite island of St. Barthelemy.

Attractions and Activities near Caribbean Vacation Rentals in Guadeloupe

Guadeloupe has a wealth of natural attractions. Beautiful beaches are what the destination is known for but its natural attractions extend far beyond that. The rainforests are thick and home to many plant and animal species. The island of Basse-Terre has rugged volcanic terrain and is home to the Caribbean's tallest waterfall. The adjacent island of Grand-Terre has a gentler, more undulating landscape. Some of the smaller uninhabited islands are still relatively wild and untamed. The Guadeloupe National Park has more than 180 miles of marked trails that visitors can explore. For birdwatching enthusiasts, you can take an excursion to the mangrove swamps on Grand-Terre and see many different bird species here.

If you are more adventurous, you can take a hike to the top of La Soufriere. This active volcano last made rumblings in 1976. The hike is strenuous and takes approximately 90 minutes to reach the top. Guadeloupe is surrounded by amazing coral reefs and it is ranked as one of the top 10 dive sites in the world. Diving conditions are calm, and the coral and marine life are abundant. Eating out in Guadeloupe is an experience. The cuisine is a blend of island and European flavors that will delight the palate. There are many beach bars and nightclubs where you can enjoy some tasty local rum cocktails.
