  • Unforgettable!

"Not much to add from the other reviews other than it's hard to think of a way to improve on this villa. The view is jaw-dropping - high enough to see amazing sunrises over St John east end and Norman Island, close enough to Coral Harbor to see Biff or Jimmy getting ready to sail. And the villa faces directly down the Sir Francis Drake Channel, with Tortola to the left, and Norman, Peter and cays to the right, Virgin Gorda on the horizon. The villa is very comfortable, three comfortable air-conditioned bedrooms, one up and two down, each with private bath, plus fantastic great room, gourmet well-appointed kitchen and deluxe gas grill outside. The two full-length-of-the-house porches are beautifully furnished and each is fully screened in case of bugs, but at 600 feet elevation with constant breeze, there aren't many bugs. We loved the pool deck complete with outdoor shower, 6-person soaking spa and what must be the largest pool on the island. You must have 4-wheel drive and the drive up and down the hill is more exciting than an amusement park ride, but that can be said of most villas on the island. The best part about this perfect villa is that it's on St. John, and I can't imagine a more beautiful tropical island anyplace - we visited and snorkeled 13 separate beaches in 6 days - favorites were Salt Pond, Little Lameshur and Groutpan. We loved the relaxed, laid-back style in Coral Bay, getting to know some of the "colorful" local folks - we much preferred this side to the more uppity Cruz Bay side. Fantastic villa and unforgettable stay at Almost Heaven in America's Paradise."

  • There are no words...

"I feel that the English language is failing me as I try to describe the perfection of Karensa. Me and my husband have been to many gorgeous places in this world, and this tops them all. The pictures are amazing and still don't do this place any justice. The only problem with Karensa is the depression you feel when it is time to leave. Ben was one of the most gracious, accommodating hosts we have ever had. There was even a chilled bottle of champagne in the refrigerator for us upon our arrival. Do yourself a favor...please quit looking at other places available for rent on Tortola right now and book Karensa. You won't be sorry. PS...rent a 4 wheel drive vehicle. The road to Karensa is not for the faint of heart, which makes it even more fun."

  • Lovely getaway beach home

"Lovely getaway beach house. Wonderful concierge service and pleasant caretaker. House is very accommodating for large families . The Internet service was quite poor and slow .....wireless therefore was not connecting. House is solar powered ... We got to know That at arrival ....iron your clothing during the day. We learned the hard way!!! We were quite disappointed that there was no outdoor furniture and grill to dine outside in the lovely courtyard . All in all we had a lovely stay ."

Guadeloupe Travel Tips

Traveling to Guadeloupe Vacation Rentals

The main airport is located on the southwestern corner of Basse-Terre, two miles from Point á Pitre. The airport hosts a variety of European and North American airlines and has two international terminals. There are direct flights from Paris and New York City. If you are looking for alternative flight routing, you could look into traveling via San Juan on Puerto Rico. There are several ferries and private yacht charters that operate between Guadeloupe and neighboring islands in the Caribbean.

Best Time of Year to Visit Guadeloupe Villas

Guadeloupe is a group of French-governed islands located in the eastern part of the Caribbean. They are sometimes referred to as the butterfly islands because the two largest islands, when viewed together from the air, resemble the shape of a butterfly's wings. The islands have a typically tropical climate with little temperature variation between the seasons. The more differentiating factor is the humidity and rainfall. In the summer months, high levels of humidity and frequent rain showers make the temperatures feel hotter. Occasional tropical storms are also common, bringing heavy rain and strong winds. The cyclone season is also typically the low tourist season and this occurs mostly in August and September. From December through April, the air is drier and temperatures therefore feel more moderate. This is most commonly the peak tourist season.

Visitors to Guadeloupe Resort Rentals

Because Guadeloupe is a French foreign territory, the primary local language is French. This therefore attracts many French Canadians and European travelers. It is a vacation destination that has an almost sophisticated air about it, even though it is a tropical island destination. The main cities have high-class shopping malls and the streets resemble those of mainland France. However, when you travel to more remote parts of the island, you can discover a wealth of natural treasures. It is certainly a destination for sun lovers and people who enjoy sandy white beaches and swaying palm trees. Guadeloupe is known for its vibrant nightlife. Local festivals are usually all-night street parties. It is a trendy vacation destination that attracts movie stars and celebrities, especially to the elite island of St. Barthelemy.

Attractions and Activities near Caribbean Vacation Rentals in Guadeloupe

Guadeloupe has a wealth of natural attractions. Beautiful beaches are what the destination is known for but its natural attractions extend far beyond that. The rainforests are thick and home to many plant and animal species. The island of Basse-Terre has rugged volcanic terrain and is home to the Caribbean's tallest waterfall. The adjacent island of Grand-Terre has a gentler, more undulating landscape. Some of the smaller uninhabited islands are still relatively wild and untamed. The Guadeloupe National Park has more than 180 miles of marked trails that visitors can explore. For birdwatching enthusiasts, you can take an excursion to the mangrove swamps on Grand-Terre and see many different bird species here.

If you are more adventurous, you can take a hike to the top of La Soufriere. This active volcano last made rumblings in 1976. The hike is strenuous and takes approximately 90 minutes to reach the top. Guadeloupe is surrounded by amazing coral reefs and it is ranked as one of the top 10 dive sites in the world. Diving conditions are calm, and the coral and marine life are abundant. Eating out in Guadeloupe is an experience. The cuisine is a blend of island and European flavors that will delight the palate. There are many beach bars and nightclubs where you can enjoy some tasty local rum cocktails.
