  • A Special Place

"Our 3rd time at Shakti Home and it just keeps getting better. Lots of interesting upgrades since we were there last and the best parts the same, amazing home cooking by Audrey, and a view to die for with the peace and serenity we needed. You leave here a new person. McCarl, the caretaker at Shakti also helped to make sure any of our needs were met. Perfect place for doing nothing but relaxing!"

  • A Jamaican Balm for the Soul

"Back in 1974-76 I taught school in Jamaica for two years, living near Savannah La Mar with my three kids. Many times I have been back, but my most recent trip was truly memorable. My husband and I had grown tired of the noise, too many tourists, and hustle of the North Coast, so we decided to try the South Coast this time because we know it's still unspoiled. We searched the internet and loved seeing the pictures and reviews of Rainbow Tree, so we booked there. We were not disappointed! It's an incredibly beautiful spot, well-maintained, and looks oh so Caribbean, sitting on a bluff above the sea. We were greeted by Laura and Jenny who had prepared a very tasty group of appetizers and drinks for us to enjoy, which we did on the back veranda. Somehow we timed our arrival to just before sundown, so we relaxed with our drinks, watching a picture-perfect sunset, the colors varied from pink to orange to purple, as the sun slipped into the sea. I knew then that our vacation would be filled with good people, good food, nature, and relaxation. Ahhhhh... Each morning we walked up the nearly deserted beach to the fishing village, where brightly-painted boats were pulled up on the beach. If you see anyone, tourist or local, the person will greet you with a smile, but won't intrude on your experience. What a contrast to the hustle of the crowded beaches of the North Coast! Both Laura and Jenny have worked with the owners of Rainbow Tree for many, many years, Laura since it was built 23 years ago—and Jenny for a dozen. What a great tribute to the owners that their staff does not want to leave! What a great tribute to Laura and Jenny, that the owners are happy with them, too! With so many years of experienced staff, you can imagine how smoothly and calmly the place runs. Aman, Laura's husband, is available for transport if you don't have a car. He drove us all the way over to Grange Hill, several hours away, so I could visit my old school. It was so gratifying to be greeted with smiles from several on staff who had been there those many years ago when I taught there. I couldn't stop crying, especially when I reunited with two of my students who teach there now. That's Jamaica, full of beautiful people and beautiful places, all glowing beneath the Caribbean sun. Try Rainbow Tree---the staff is dedicated to making your stay wonderful, the sea is there to salve your soul, and you will come back contented and refreshed."

  • Best Jamaica Experience

"It is rare that a property , even as well presented in the on-line pictures as Calypso Shores is , will truly meet your expectation when you actually arrive to the location. In this case , Calypso Shores far exceeded our expectations in every way possible!! The fabulous location , the private beach , the house and all of its amenities , and the friendly and attentive staff all made the experience truly remarkable. We rented the property as four couples who have individually and collectively travelled pretty much to all of the great ( and not so great ) vacation spots around the globe. A number of us had also been to Jamaica and Montego Bay previously and stayed at a couple of the nearby high-end resorts....so our expectations were high ; but guarded. It is truly our collective delight to be able to provide this well deserved review for Calypso Shores ...and unanimity for eight people on a review of a location is just as rare as is this true gem of a property. Well deserved and and we definitely will book again."

  • Fantastic!!

"Fantastic pretty well sums it up! The villa is in great location we found a couple of really good eating places within walking distance of the villa. If you don't have a car it would be quite a walk into ochi but no need to worry there's plenty of cheap taxis passing on the main road and also the bus service if you want to do it properly! The villa is a Short walk to a lovely beach on a private road. Glad the villa came with the pass to the Bamboo Blu beach club, otherwise I don't think we would have had access to the beach without having to do the ten minute drive down into ochi town! The villa's estate neighbours The RUI hotel so most of the beach belongs to them...not a problem to us as we had ample beach to ourselves! Not that impressed with Bamboo Blu restaurant....pricey for a family with three kids not too bad if you are just a couple...after all ...you are on holiday! Free WiFi on the beach is great! The pictures of the villa do not do it justice .....it is fantastically spacious!! The main lounge is stunning as you walk in to the wooden beams/open roof space...gets quite hot in there! All the bedrooms have remote control air conditioning ( do not overuse) the rooms are well decorated and have all the space you need. The place is reasonably well maintained and was clean on our arrival. Nellie came and took the stress of maintaining the hygiene and the manager Suzanne was promptly on hand when we had a kettle disaster! (Us English like our tea!!) kids were well entertained on lazy days with the pool table, board games, books, easel, loads of garden space for family football! We spent two weeks here (4 adults and five kids aged 17, 16, 12, 10 and 1 years old) I would recommend Caribbean Dawn to everyone I know! Thank you to Ms Porter-Whyte who made the booking process easy and took the anxiety out of booking over the Net. I want to be there now!!!"
