  • The week that I look forward to the most each year.

"This was the second week that I have spent at Villa Mara. It was like coming home! We were met at the front door with welcomes and hugs. Last year I thought that the stay was amazing - this year - it was even better. I don't know how the staff did it but they remembered little details about our likes and were right on top of everything. The beautiful house has the atmosphere of real Jamaica and I must say that I got the back to boarding school feeling when we had to leave. My husband, daughter, son-in-law and two grand daughters accompanied me on this trip. Every one had a blast and felt most pampered. My grand daughters both cried when they left. Many very, very happy memories have been made at Villa Mara. For that week we were made to feel that it was our home."

  • Lasting postive impression! Will definitely be returning.

"I recently had the great opportunity to stay with a group of girlfriends at Tropical Breeze Villa, in Negril. Everything was just as we had hoped for. We had done the resort type trip and was looking for something that would leave us with a true feeling that we had visited another country, rather than an Americanized version of a Caribbean vacation. To our delight, this was EXACTLY what we received! :) Upon our arrival we were greeted with friendly resident staff, whom always made sure we were comfortable and content, for the complete duration of our stay. Our first impression was a home away from home, with a cultural feel and relaxing vibe. The rooms were all very clean, including kitchen and all four bathrooms. The housekeeper, Sophie, is a wonderful person, and very polite. She kept the villa clean and tidy, while respectfully maintaining our privacy. We appreciated that! Meals were made by the on-site master chef, and was a definite highlight for our group of 'foodie' ladies, and the BEST I've personally had in the Caribbean! Any inquiries we had about entertainment were fully answered, with varying options to please our dynamic group of women. Whether lounging poolside (on-site), or at the nearby beautiful white sand beach, this villa is located in the heart of Negril and we were always just minutes away from thrilling entertainment; Including: Rick's Café (a MUST), MargaritaVille, riverboat rafting, 7 mile beach, nature hikes, bird watching and more! We were even offered rides for a reasonable price, to any of these excursions by their friendly driver, Jazzbo. He was able to point out all the best attractions! All in all, we thoroughly enjoyed our week-long stay, and our recommending it to our friends! - C.K"

  • A Jamaican Balm for the Soul

"Back in 1974-76 I taught school in Jamaica for two years, living near Savannah La Mar with my three kids. Many times I have been back, but my most recent trip was truly memorable. My husband and I had grown tired of the noise, too many tourists, and hustle of the North Coast, so we decided to try the South Coast this time because we know it's still unspoiled. We searched the internet and loved seeing the pictures and reviews of Rainbow Tree, so we booked there. We were not disappointed! It's an incredibly beautiful spot, well-maintained, and looks oh so Caribbean, sitting on a bluff above the sea. We were greeted by Laura and Jenny who had prepared a very tasty group of appetizers and drinks for us to enjoy, which we did on the back veranda. Somehow we timed our arrival to just before sundown, so we relaxed with our drinks, watching a picture-perfect sunset, the colors varied from pink to orange to purple, as the sun slipped into the sea. I knew then that our vacation would be filled with good people, good food, nature, and relaxation. Ahhhhh... Each morning we walked up the nearly deserted beach to the fishing village, where brightly-painted boats were pulled up on the beach. If you see anyone, tourist or local, the person will greet you with a smile, but won't intrude on your experience. What a contrast to the hustle of the crowded beaches of the North Coast! Both Laura and Jenny have worked with the owners of Rainbow Tree for many, many years, Laura since it was built 23 years ago—and Jenny for a dozen. What a great tribute to the owners that their staff does not want to leave! What a great tribute to Laura and Jenny, that the owners are happy with them, too! With so many years of experienced staff, you can imagine how smoothly and calmly the place runs. Aman, Laura's husband, is available for transport if you don't have a car. He drove us all the way over to Grange Hill, several hours away, so I could visit my old school. It was so gratifying to be greeted with smiles from several on staff who had been there those many years ago when I taught there. I couldn't stop crying, especially when I reunited with two of my students who teach there now. That's Jamaica, full of beautiful people and beautiful places, all glowing beneath the Caribbean sun. Try Rainbow Tree---the staff is dedicated to making your stay wonderful, the sea is there to salve your soul, and you will come back contented and refreshed."

  • Fabulous Experience

"There isn't much more we can write about this house and its wonderful staff that we have not already written. I mean this literally given that this was our *third* year staying here. The owners, who are warm and lovely people, make sure to keep the property fresh and vibrant. Each year there is a new amenity (like the sail boat or the ladder at the end of the dock) or something that has been done to make the property "like new"" (such as the fresh sand and cleared water's edge). The website photos are accurate. The staff remains incredibly accommodating, friendly, and trustworthy. The process for meal selection and payment is as easy as can be; I think one reviewer may have complained about this, but for the life of me, I can't fathom how so. The staff could not be more welcoming and easy going, and paying for groceries (other than fresh fish) could be paid for with a credit card. How much easier can that be? The area is very safe. We let our children walk to and from the courts for their lessons with Franco (a terrific instructor and a good man, Franco volunteers at an orphanage. We went with him one afternoon to volunteer. It is an experience I highly recommend. To note, they need shoes! Few children (tweens and teens) had any, but I digress.). Our children made friends with the other children in the small neighborhood. We made friends with some of the neighbors - they are all warm and inviting. (Note: I am sure they are lovely, but we saw, but never met, the night owls who live next door. While yes, they are multi-generational and yes, gasp!, they do have a baby who has the audacity to cry (I mean, *come on* to the reviewer who complained about this. Of course babies cry sometimes. It is what it is.). They had little impact on our delightful stay.) Ray remains an engaging driver. He has terrific stories! You don't need a car if you have Ray (and quite frankly, I would not want to drive myself). Truly, we can't say enough wonderful things about Afimi or its amazing staff."
