  • Wonderful Spot

"We just returned after a week in Jamaica at La Sirena. The house was wonderfully relaxing with the sound of the waves to help us sleep and perfect for 2 adults and 2 kids. It is a beautiful spot with an ocean view and great spot to see the stars and sunsets. Steve the owner is great to work with. Ms. Ida, the cook, has a heart as large as the island. She is a wonderful chef and we looked forward to every meal. We did some fun trips to YS Falls and the Black River and Pelican Bar. Ms. Ida can arrange transportation and help you set up any sightseeing you would like. If you want some sunshine, relaxation, and a chance to meet the island natives, this is the place for you."

  • Shakti Home: simply the best!!

"I stayed at Shakti Home with my family over Springbreak/Easter. We knew by the pictures that we were going to stay in a beautiful home but until we got there we didn't know it was actually outstanding. We arrived late in the evening and we were welcomed by the villa's Staff with a traditional jamaican dinner executed to perfection. I have been going to Jamaica often over the last 3 decades (yes I am not a kid anymore) and rarely have I had such a great time. The villa is right in front the best beach of Treasure Beach. We would hang by the beach every day and go back to the house for lunch and napping on the hammocks. it was perfect. We organized a boat tour with Captain Dennis aka Shabba (highly recommended), and a trip to YS Falls which are fantastic. Very hard to leave this beautiful house as we had everything we needed right there. Audrey, our cook, would prepare the best breakfasts and dinners you would ever dream. Shakti Home is the perfect family retreat to disconnect from our overly busy lives. Needless to say, I highly recommend it. The difficult part is dealing with the return and the reality back in Brooklyn, though the secret to alleviate it is to imagine ourselves back soon at Shakti Home."

  • A Jamaican Balm for the Soul

"Back in 1974-76 I taught school in Jamaica for two years, living near Savannah La Mar with my three kids. Many times I have been back, but my most recent trip was truly memorable. My husband and I had grown tired of the noise, too many tourists, and hustle of the North Coast, so we decided to try the South Coast this time because we know it's still unspoiled. We searched the internet and loved seeing the pictures and reviews of Rainbow Tree, so we booked there. We were not disappointed! It's an incredibly beautiful spot, well-maintained, and looks oh so Caribbean, sitting on a bluff above the sea. We were greeted by Laura and Jenny who had prepared a very tasty group of appetizers and drinks for us to enjoy, which we did on the back veranda. Somehow we timed our arrival to just before sundown, so we relaxed with our drinks, watching a picture-perfect sunset, the colors varied from pink to orange to purple, as the sun slipped into the sea. I knew then that our vacation would be filled with good people, good food, nature, and relaxation. Ahhhhh... Each morning we walked up the nearly deserted beach to the fishing village, where brightly-painted boats were pulled up on the beach. If you see anyone, tourist or local, the person will greet you with a smile, but won't intrude on your experience. What a contrast to the hustle of the crowded beaches of the North Coast! Both Laura and Jenny have worked with the owners of Rainbow Tree for many, many years, Laura since it was built 23 years ago—and Jenny for a dozen. What a great tribute to the owners that their staff does not want to leave! What a great tribute to Laura and Jenny, that the owners are happy with them, too! With so many years of experienced staff, you can imagine how smoothly and calmly the place runs. Aman, Laura's husband, is available for transport if you don't have a car. He drove us all the way over to Grange Hill, several hours away, so I could visit my old school. It was so gratifying to be greeted with smiles from several on staff who had been there those many years ago when I taught there. I couldn't stop crying, especially when I reunited with two of my students who teach there now. That's Jamaica, full of beautiful people and beautiful places, all glowing beneath the Caribbean sun. Try Rainbow Tree---the staff is dedicated to making your stay wonderful, the sea is there to salve your soul, and you will come back contented and refreshed."

  • Can't say enough about how awesome Great Escape is!

"If you want a vacation surrounded by beauty where you can visit a Jamaica that you will never find in a resort, with staff who are kind, genuine and, well, simply wonderful, then this is the place for you. This was our third time in Jamaica, but our first outside of a resort. Mark (the owner) was great. We actually had to change our dates due to medical issues, and he had no problem with that. We only went on a few excursions that Shane arranged for us. Highly recommend Captain Ted for a Black River tour with a stop at Sister Lou's and the Pelican Bar. Also did Lover's Leap with a late lunch at Jack Sprats. Rambo did the driving for us. We definitely plan to come again. Hopefully for our son's college graduation in 2017. Shane said he'd show him fishing Jamaican style. :)"
