  • Fabulous vacation, one we will never forget!

"We throughly enjoyed our stay at Afimi. The house is every bit as fabulous as it looks in the pictures but it really is the staff that makes the stay there memorable. Colroy, Nic and Fiona took great care of us. We brought our 4 young children (7, 5, 2, & 1) and Nic made sure they had something delicious for each meal while also making completely different adult meals for my husband and me. He also made us a few Jamaican dishes to try, which we really enjoyed. We had delicious coffee delivered to us every morning and fresh smoothies for the kids and daiquiris for the grownups in the afternoon from Colroy. Fiona did our laundry and kept the house spotless. All in all this was a great vacation and it will be difficult to stay any other way than with a staff like people at Afimi. There were some games and puzzles for the kids to play with, large flat screen tvs in every room and an awesome sound system that allowed us to listen to any kind of music we chose. I would agree with other reviewers who say the beach is not exactly swimmable. Our kids had a great time playing in the sand and the water is very clear but my husband saw a huge group of large jellyfish when out kayaking (understandably, this is beyond the owners control, but they are still there!) and there was some kind of fish/jellyfish burrowed in the sand all over the shoreline and the staff told us we shouldn't go in the water without water shoes on. All that being said, we still had a great time looking for hermit crabs, sea urchins and sand crabs. The view is stunning, the pool is fantastic. The owners were very helpful and answered our requests and questions quickly. I whole heartedly recommend this beach villa to anyone, you won't regret it!"

  • Wonderfully relaxing, practically perfect in every way

"If you are looking for a quiet Jamaican get away in a superior natural setting with pampered but unobtrusive service, Coconut Cottage should be on your list. The owners will help you get car service from Montego Bay airport, and we recommend getting a driver for your whole stay. A few miles outside of MB, you'll find an unmarked driveway that leads past some fields with a few pigs, goats, chickens, etc, and comes to a secure, gated additional driveway that houses the Cottage. We took an extended family group of 11 and had a truly wonderful experience. A staff of 5 provides excellent food -- we asked for and got "food like the locals" -- including goat curry, several kinds of fish, jerk chicken, and truly fresh fruit (mangos are much better than in the US). The staff is very friendly, and happy to chat and be available while also demonstrating a good sense of when guests desire space and quiet. We spent part of our week simply enjoying the property, and also going across the road to Round Hill (great snorkeling and a fun Friday night show), and another part of our week touring the Island, with the same driver using a large van. The staff was also able to arrange a bicycle for me, so I could work off a few of the great calories. There is great walking up the hill and also mountain biking type terrain. There is a stunning ocean view from the living room and pool area, and the house includes up to date audiovisual and an ample variety of fun board games. The property lent itself to our family having individual times to ourselves as well as group events. There is plenty of both indoor and outdoor space to enjoy. This ends up being much more economical and relaxing than simply staying at Round Hill or another place with lots of other folks. If you want to people watch, just go across the street or into town! The property was always clean, the descriptions provided by the owners are accurate, and we definitely recommend this place and will be back."

  • Best Jamaica Experience

"It is rare that a property , even as well presented in the on-line pictures as Calypso Shores is , will truly meet your expectation when you actually arrive to the location. In this case , Calypso Shores far exceeded our expectations in every way possible!! The fabulous location , the private beach , the house and all of its amenities , and the friendly and attentive staff all made the experience truly remarkable. We rented the property as four couples who have individually and collectively travelled pretty much to all of the great ( and not so great ) vacation spots around the globe. A number of us had also been to Jamaica and Montego Bay previously and stayed at a couple of the nearby high-end resorts....so our expectations were high ; but guarded. It is truly our collective delight to be able to provide this well deserved review for Calypso Shores ...and unanimity for eight people on a review of a location is just as rare as is this true gem of a property. Well deserved and and we definitely will book again."

  • Best Villa Vacation Ever!

"This was a last minute booking but the owners went above and beyond to insure our trip was stress free. Unexpected to us, Leslie the butler met us at the airport with the driver, and made it his mission to take care for the rest of the week. The owners who live in Florida appear to be very involved in the management of the property and it shows. We arrived to chilled towels and met the rest of the 7 person staff who greeted us with “welcome home”. They endeavored to satisfy us in every way possible for balance of our stay. Never intrusive, always friendly, and available day and night, they quietly went about their daily routines in keeping the Villa and grounds in top shape. As they say, the best Chef’s on the island are found in the better villas and Bambu's Peaches is the best we have experienced in multiple villa stays over 20 years of visits to Jamaica. Leslie joked our first night that the meals would progressively get better each day, but we found every dinner to be equally exceptional. We opted to enjoy all of our meals in the open air dining pavilion which afforded excellent views over to Montego Bay both day and night. Other options included a formal dining room as well as a beautiful terrace area on the ocean facing corner of the property. Peaches’ multi course creations were always served by Leslie, each meal served on a different and unique place setting. All meals were restaurant quality! The villa itself is unique for the area…a blend of Caribbean Architecture (roof lines) with some old world Italian inspired features (arches; iron work) including the statues around the swimming pool which may remind some of a roman spa, or at least the Garden of the Gods at Caesars Palace (Vegas Edition). The show stopper is the grounds. Multiple levels of well-manicured lawns, fruit trees, palms, dotted with fountains and quiet spaces. Well placed Royal Palms towering over the roof tops give the property a true paradise feel. Not a bad view anywhere. In addition to the usual “free range” island foul, the owner’s love of animals is present on their island estate. The “Arc” as I called it included roaming bunnies, a few peacocks, a friendly Great Dane Pup, goats, and even a parrot who added to the menagerie. The pictures do not do the place justice. We were two and more than comfortable, but Bambu easily works for multiple couples or a larger family because of the many “hiding places” affording on demand quiet time. 5 Star Experience"
