  • Wonderful Place - Best Hosts Ever!

"We just stayed for 12 days at this fabulous mountain top getaway. Every word in the description of the property is exactly what you get; - the bonus is, you get the sweetest hosts you will ever meet! Cindie picked me up at the airport after a glitch with the rental car and I got an insiders' insight of life on the island. She drove me to the grocery store so I could get more groceries and things I would need until my husband arrived the next evening! How many owners would go out of their way to help you like that? It made me feel very cared for and special! I think it was the attention to detail that impressed me the most. Whenever we had questions or needed help - they responded immediately. I loved that they took care of breakfast for us the first morning! How thoughtful! After a day of enjoying the beautiful beaches, sailing, snorkeling or shopping it was a quiet place to come back to and unwind. I enjoyed watching the hummingbirds that visited frequently. -The drive up is a little intimidating at first, but after a few days my husband was driving those hills like a pro! (Cindie gives very detailed directions that are extremely helpful). -The beaches we visited were all beautiful! -If you want a great snorkeling/sailing adventure - Use Island Girl Adventures, Captain Mike was wonderful! -Fish Tails in Red Hook was one of our favorite restaurants...best Key Lime Pie ever!"

  • Stunning Views, Convenient Location!

"We were blown away by the beautiful views from the balcony of Waterklip. Lovely pool and balcony to view the sunset over Great Cruz Bay & St. Thomas or watch local birds and iguanas in the morning. Short trip into town. Close to Starfish Market and Mongoose Junction. Very private. Never saw the neighbors and the owner's lodging is unoccupied when rental is available. The villa is well appointed with everything you could need to cook a meal in house or make your own rum punches. The owner's left brochures and guidebooks for our reference. We had such a wonderful time at Waterklip! Would recommend to anyone!"

  • Private and Secluded

"I was a little worried booking online and had read all the precious reviews which helped put me at ease with my decision on renting this property.... Well let me just tell you how amazing this home is. The pictures don't do any justice to this house. Endless views of 3 neighboring beaches, private home and you feel like your at a luxurious resort. My family did not want to leave at the end of the week. Monica, the owner was very nice and attentive and always replied promptly to my emails. We will definitely take into consideration this home next time we visit "la Isla del Encanto.""

  • Better Than Our Dreams

"What we read about in the description and reviews and saw in pics when choosing to book this property proved to be accurate, although in reality not fully representative of our experience, which turned out to be far better than our expectations. When you first see the panoramic view of the islands and sea from this mountain side, it takes your breath away. And the great thing is that the thrill of that view never diminishes because it is ever changing in some way, and you get a slightly different perspective from the deck, or the living area, the bedroom, and even the shower. The living space is immaculate, nicely furnished, and a very comfortable bed invites restful sleep, etc. Plus there are so many special touches such as fresh flowers, original art, refreshments and treats upon arrival that make this a wonderfully welcoming place. We been to St. John 7 or 8 times now, and have always preferred staying on the Coral Bay end of the island, but this spot on the mountain above Coral Bay was not only the most beautiful and comfortable of the accommodations that we've had, but turned out really to be the most convenient for getting to all the beaches where we wanted to snorkel, and to the nice mix of restaurants that are there. After our first trip up the mountain road led by our host, we soon realized that we made the right choice. Our host and hostess, who are the property owners and were in the upstairs section, surely must be counted among the most gracious, knowledgeable, helpful, and interesting folk that you could ever hope to meet. While careful to always respect our privacy and solitude, they were quick to respond to any of our requests and questions. And when a couple of unexpected medical issues developed for us, it was especially reassuring to have their support and suggestions which salvaged what would otherwise have been frustrating and disappointing intrusions into our days in paradise. All in all, our experience in this special place was better than we could have dreamed it could be, and fond memories of it will fill our actual dreams for many days and night to come."

Mexican Caribbean Travel Tips

Finding Your Way to Mexican Caribbean Vacation Rentals

The primary airport on the Mexican Caribbean coast is in Cancun. Over the years, Cancun has become a vibrant resort vacation destination that is popular with international travelers. Cancun International Airport has regular daily flights with most major cities in the United States. There are also regular commercial flights to major European cities such as London, Paris, Frankfurt and Madrid. Many national air carriers from South America also have scheduled flights from cities such as Sao Paolo, Lima, Caracus and Bogota. Because of its good flight connections, Cancun often serves as a travel hub for European travelers visiting Central America and the Caribbean. Cancun has a state-of-the-art cruise port where many international cruise liners dock for a few days as part of their cruises. Guests disembark to enjoy the stunning beaches and excellent shopping opportunities in the region.

Best Time of Year to Travel to Mexican Caribbean Villas

Mexico's Caribbean coastline enjoys a warm tropical climate. There is little seasonal difference in the temperatures. The main seasonal difference is in the amount of rainfall that occurs and the resulting higher levels of humidity. The coastline is susceptible to tropical storms that sometimes blow through in the late summer months of August and September. This is traditionally the low tourist season. For all other times of the year, there is a consistent influx of travelers to Mexico's Caribbean coast. The peak travel season is often in December when the weather is a little more temperate and there are lower levels of humidity. The peak season often extends to April and includes the Easter vacation period.

Activities and Attractions at Mexican Caribbean Resort Rentals

Some of the main attractions on the Mexico Caribbean coastline are the many superb resorts that are concentrated there. Many of these resorts offer vacations on an all-inclusive basis where guests can enjoy a wide range of facilities and sporting activities. Water sports centers have windsurfers, sea kayaks, paddle skis, Jet Skis and boats available so guests can enjoy the warm tropical waters. Volleyball and racquetball sets are also set up on the beachfront. Tournaments and various other activities and excursions are frequently arranged by the resorts. Most of the resorts are concentrated in Cancun and on the nearby island of Cozumel.

This stretch of Mexico's coast is home to one of the world's largest barrier reefs. It extends from the top of the Yucatan Peninsula down the length of the country and then still further south to Belize and Guatemala. This reef provides excellent diving and has sites suitable for both novice and advanced divers. For those who prefer to snorkel, there are many sections of shallow reefs off the coast of Cancun and Cozumel where you can go on a snorkeling excursion. The area is also home to some of the most significant Mayan temples and ruins. Guided tours provide insight into the ancient Aztec culture and traditions. Many of the ruins are set amongst dense tropical foliage and just getting there is an adventure in itself. For travelers looking for a quieter vacation destination along the Mexican Caribbean coast, there are many smaller resorts further south along the coast
