"Stonegarden Cottage was so much more then described! I could have spent the entire time in the river stone bathroom. View is breathtaking (I live in the Caribbean so I see the sea all the time but this place/view is exceptional)! The cottage had everything one could ask for - kitchen has it all, even a blender for local fruit smoothies (and Cruzan Rum pina coladas). The gardens with amazing stonework and meditation trails an added plus! A wonderful retreat for me and a perfect spot for our Cranial Sacral Therapy workshop that was held there during the day. Supper friendly/helpful owner and very professional property manager. Great location near Coral Bay with great restaurants and water sports. Stonegarden will now be my first choice every time I visit St John!"

  • Perfect Location

"This house exceeded our expectations. We were amazed how close the ocean was and the entire house was perfect for the 6 of us. the kitchen had everything you needed and the beds were very comfortable. Pool was a huge bonus!! Outside shower and lounge chairs were fantastic. Loved being so close to market and restaurants. Daniels by the sea was great for breakfast and dinner. Great location to get to other areas of the island. After exploring other beaches, it felt wonderful to come back to the villa."

  • Absolute Paradise!

"We dream about our times at Stargazer all the time! We had visited three consecutive years, but it had been 15 years since our last stay... Now, with both children at ages where we knew they'd love it as much as we do, we returned to find this perfect getaway better than our memories served us! The home is spacious, clean and recent upgrades are obvious - bathrooms are beautiful - each room has its own private deck, and the views from every part of the home are a dream. The kitchen has everything (and more!) than you'd ever need. The whole visit is an adventure and we love every minute of it - whether it is snorkeling or diving from the boat or bone fishing on the flats or driving up the jungle road to the house, watching the sunset and stars from the top of the island (where the house so ideally sits)... If you like a little bit of adventure and want to do something a little different, this is the place for you! You can get away from it all at Stargazer... while having the comforts of home! A great asset of the location is the proximity of the (relatively) new development on Scrub Island. The Marriott-run resort has lots of amenities that we used - Dive BVI is an amazing dive shop. Since we dove on our own most of the time, they filled tanks for us twice a day and took us on some wonderful dives (that were a little too far for us to take the boat to!)... we used the market almost daily to pick up supplies, deli meats, and basic things, and we ate at the restaurant a few times (which was very good). 15 years ago, Scrub wasn't developed. Now, you've got Marina Cay and Scrub for resources. We couldn't recommend this property more - we adore it and can't wait to return next year!"

  • Favorite home rental ever

"I was hesitant to rent this house since there were no recent reviews but wow-what a treat! The views are stunning from all 3 porches. The seclusion and privacy of the pool and hot tub were so romantic. The hike to the beach was beautiful and we were often the only ones out there. The outside spaces of the property make this house so special. We stayed in the upstairs bedroom for the best view out to the ocean. This home is well suited for up to 6 people. It was also stocked with games, novels, bird books, binoculars, ice chest, beach chairs and towels, plenty of kitchen gadgets and dishes, nice bath towels, washer and dryer, pool floats. It was not a bad drive (about 15 minutes) into Cruz Bay and there was also quick access to 104 to get to the other side of the island. There is an iguana that lives near the pool but we never did see him. The sounds of the ocean and birds were so relaxing to listen to at night. We were fortunate to be there at full moon and the reflections on the water at night were beautiful. The pool got full sun most of the day so was a nice temperature for swimming into the evening. We enjoyed having a separate table on the lower level in the shade for when the sun was out. The driveway was a little difficult to pull out of so definitely recommend a 4WD jeep. My husband and I celebrated our wedding anniversary here but I hope to come back and bring my college age kids soon. I wouldn't recommend this property for someone who has difficulty walking due to the number of stairs. Other than that, absolutely loved this place! Even with a few houses to the right, with plenty of vegetation I still felt like it was a very private home."

Mexican Caribbean Travel Tips

Finding Your Way to Mexican Caribbean Vacation Rentals

The primary airport on the Mexican Caribbean coast is in Cancun. Over the years, Cancun has become a vibrant resort vacation destination that is popular with international travelers. Cancun International Airport has regular daily flights with most major cities in the United States. There are also regular commercial flights to major European cities such as London, Paris, Frankfurt and Madrid. Many national air carriers from South America also have scheduled flights from cities such as Sao Paolo, Lima, Caracus and Bogota. Because of its good flight connections, Cancun often serves as a travel hub for European travelers visiting Central America and the Caribbean. Cancun has a state-of-the-art cruise port where many international cruise liners dock for a few days as part of their cruises. Guests disembark to enjoy the stunning beaches and excellent shopping opportunities in the region.

Best Time of Year to Travel to Mexican Caribbean Villas

Mexico's Caribbean coastline enjoys a warm tropical climate. There is little seasonal difference in the temperatures. The main seasonal difference is in the amount of rainfall that occurs and the resulting higher levels of humidity. The coastline is susceptible to tropical storms that sometimes blow through in the late summer months of August and September. This is traditionally the low tourist season. For all other times of the year, there is a consistent influx of travelers to Mexico's Caribbean coast. The peak travel season is often in December when the weather is a little more temperate and there are lower levels of humidity. The peak season often extends to April and includes the Easter vacation period.

Activities and Attractions at Mexican Caribbean Resort Rentals

Some of the main attractions on the Mexico Caribbean coastline are the many superb resorts that are concentrated there. Many of these resorts offer vacations on an all-inclusive basis where guests can enjoy a wide range of facilities and sporting activities. Water sports centers have windsurfers, sea kayaks, paddle skis, Jet Skis and boats available so guests can enjoy the warm tropical waters. Volleyball and racquetball sets are also set up on the beachfront. Tournaments and various other activities and excursions are frequently arranged by the resorts. Most of the resorts are concentrated in Cancun and on the nearby island of Cozumel.

This stretch of Mexico's coast is home to one of the world's largest barrier reefs. It extends from the top of the Yucatan Peninsula down the length of the country and then still further south to Belize and Guatemala. This reef provides excellent diving and has sites suitable for both novice and advanced divers. For those who prefer to snorkel, there are many sections of shallow reefs off the coast of Cancun and Cozumel where you can go on a snorkeling excursion. The area is also home to some of the most significant Mayan temples and ruins. Guided tours provide insight into the ancient Aztec culture and traditions. Many of the ruins are set amongst dense tropical foliage and just getting there is an adventure in itself. For travelers looking for a quieter vacation destination along the Mexican Caribbean coast, there are many smaller resorts further south along the coast
