  • Perfect Tree House

"My husband and I recently returned from three weeks at the Hawks Nest and are already planning to return next winter! This was our second stay and while the cottage is close to Cruz Bay and within walking distance of several beautiful north shore beaches, it has a very secluded and private feel. We think of it as the coolest tree house ever! The well equipped kitchen has everything needed to prepare meals and we ate most of them at the cottage. Occasionally we would get carry out from one of our favorite restaurants and light a candle and enjoy the meal on the deck. The sunset views and lights on St. Thomas after dark are absolutely stunning. Falling asleep to the sounds of the ocean and the tree frogs at night was very relaxing. Birds and geckos will come to visit and we were diligent to keep all food in the refrigerator/cooler/microwave. They will help themselves to anything left out! The owners and property management folks at Cimmaron were very friendly and helpful with any questions we had. While the great location of the Hawks Nest does not make it absolutely necessary to rent a car, we always do and end up using it almost every day. There are lots of great places to explore on the east end and south shore and having a car makes it easier. If you ever had a fantasy to live like the Swiss Family Robinson (with modern creature comforts) then this is the place for you! We have visited many places in the Caribbean looking for the one place we would want to return to year after year and the Hawks Nest is it."

  • St..Thomas respite

"Our first visit to the island. Have frequently used VRBO, never been disappointed, We found Mihaela's condo perfect. Clean, comfortable and so well stocked. She is easy to work and provided much helpful info. The surrounding views were astounding. Beauty as far as the eye could see! So convenient to Red Hook, a fun, funky area.and ferr.had a car, which we really felt a must in order to experience the island ..The resort as a whole is tired, several buildings w/signs stating" under renovation" perhaps should be demolished. Seven days wasn't quite enough. Will definitely return"

  • Paradise!

"We spent 8 fabulous days at Done Reach and couldn't have been more pleased. The property is absolutely beautiful, the pictures do not do it justice. It was very accommodating and had everything we needed to be our home away from home. We had the opportunity to spend some time with the owners Rusty and Nancy who were an absolute joy!!! We had never been to the Abaco Islands before so they were most helpful with all of our questions. I emailed them and called with several questions before we even left and they were always glad to give us tips and tricks. Would absolutely stay there again no doubt."

  • We really loved staying here. Great beach !

"It was a perfect spot for our family. Good surf , great beach for those that didn't surf and plenty of spots to grab food. The place was clean. We had the first evening with the corona fest going on , which was a surprise , but our two college kids LOVED it and it was a perfect kick off for spring break."

Mexican Caribbean Travel Tips

Finding Your Way to Mexican Caribbean Vacation Rentals

The primary airport on the Mexican Caribbean coast is in Cancun. Over the years, Cancun has become a vibrant resort vacation destination that is popular with international travelers. Cancun International Airport has regular daily flights with most major cities in the United States. There are also regular commercial flights to major European cities such as London, Paris, Frankfurt and Madrid. Many national air carriers from South America also have scheduled flights from cities such as Sao Paolo, Lima, Caracus and Bogota. Because of its good flight connections, Cancun often serves as a travel hub for European travelers visiting Central America and the Caribbean. Cancun has a state-of-the-art cruise port where many international cruise liners dock for a few days as part of their cruises. Guests disembark to enjoy the stunning beaches and excellent shopping opportunities in the region.

Best Time of Year to Travel to Mexican Caribbean Villas

Mexico's Caribbean coastline enjoys a warm tropical climate. There is little seasonal difference in the temperatures. The main seasonal difference is in the amount of rainfall that occurs and the resulting higher levels of humidity. The coastline is susceptible to tropical storms that sometimes blow through in the late summer months of August and September. This is traditionally the low tourist season. For all other times of the year, there is a consistent influx of travelers to Mexico's Caribbean coast. The peak travel season is often in December when the weather is a little more temperate and there are lower levels of humidity. The peak season often extends to April and includes the Easter vacation period.

Activities and Attractions at Mexican Caribbean Resort Rentals

Some of the main attractions on the Mexico Caribbean coastline are the many superb resorts that are concentrated there. Many of these resorts offer vacations on an all-inclusive basis where guests can enjoy a wide range of facilities and sporting activities. Water sports centers have windsurfers, sea kayaks, paddle skis, Jet Skis and boats available so guests can enjoy the warm tropical waters. Volleyball and racquetball sets are also set up on the beachfront. Tournaments and various other activities and excursions are frequently arranged by the resorts. Most of the resorts are concentrated in Cancun and on the nearby island of Cozumel.

This stretch of Mexico's coast is home to one of the world's largest barrier reefs. It extends from the top of the Yucatan Peninsula down the length of the country and then still further south to Belize and Guatemala. This reef provides excellent diving and has sites suitable for both novice and advanced divers. For those who prefer to snorkel, there are many sections of shallow reefs off the coast of Cancun and Cozumel where you can go on a snorkeling excursion. The area is also home to some of the most significant Mayan temples and ruins. Guided tours provide insight into the ancient Aztec culture and traditions. Many of the ruins are set amongst dense tropical foliage and just getting there is an adventure in itself. For travelers looking for a quieter vacation destination along the Mexican Caribbean coast, there are many smaller resorts further south along the coast
