"Just got back from our wonderful vacation to Vieques. This home has an amazing panoramic view from its huge front patio. Definitely our favorite part of the house. The beds were very comfortable and the house came with a pack and play which was very useful. Kitchen was well equipped and cabinets had "leftover" seasoning/oil/ etc from previous renters which was useful.. We also added to that by leaving what we couldn't take with us. There were plenty of coconuts to snack on. We had a rental car and were able to tour the island a little bit. (Most side roads are not paved and can be very bumpy). Our favorite beach was half moon. Would have liked to visit Blue beach, but was closed along with some others. I read they were closing for a few months to clean up military debris. Unfortunately we weren't able to do a bio bay tour (full moon), but will hopefully be back and can plan that for our next trip. Overall had an amazing vacation and would absolutely stay at this house again. FYI/Suggestions for the house..... only 2 of the 3 bedrooms have AC. It did get very hot/humid at night and we had to pull one of the mattresses into another room to sleep. The shower in the hallway bathroom has such poor water pressure we had to all use the master bath to shower. Not a big deal and I'm sure It could easily be fixed. Some of the beach chairs are broken/rusty. Again not a big deal since we spent most of our time on the crystal clear water!"Guest: Ann D. "I'm almost reluctant to write this review because I want to keep this gem all to myself!!! But Bonnie & Gene are wonderful people, so I'll do it for them! :) Their condo is immaculate! You will want for nothing! I can't say enough about how helpful and friendly both Bonnie & Gene were. They were easily accessible throughout my stay - and helpful from beginning to end! Also Jeff & Cathy - who work in the main office onsite were also great folks! As was Rohan - he was my coconut water supplier!! Right off the trees! I'll never drink canned again! I thought I was coming to the Brac to lay on that hammock you see in the pics - which I did - for about 1/2 hour total!! I ended up doing so much! Bonnie hooked me up with a tour guide (Keino) and he took me everywhere! He was the best and very knowledgable on Brac history, culture and spots to see! We happened to run into one of the other tour guides (TJ) who also is wonderful! He took a little time to show me some of the hidden chambers in one of the caves we were visiting! I also dove with Brac Scuba - they were wonderful - I hiked, I snorkeled, I ate native food (check out Star Restaurant for a real local treat) and ask around for Miss Sonya - she cooks great food too! You must stop at the bakery - the coconut rolls are done only once a week - so try and get some if you can! If you can, check out Atlantis - an artificial reef - done by artist J. Foots - statues he created from green materials (local sand etc) that he sunk 40 ft down and it's now become a man-made reef to dive - he still has more statues he will be putting in the water. He lives on the island and will tell you all about it if you run into him. I had adventures from day one to my last day there - I could go on and on - and guess what - I'm going back to the Brac - already have my plane tickets and Bonnie & Gene's condo booked! I can't wait! Thank you Bonnie & Gene! Can't wait to see you again!!"Guest: Claire K. Date of Stay: April 2014 Review Submitted: May 17, 2014View listing
"My boyfriend and I stayed in the studio for 3 nights and were incredibly impressed with everything: the beautifully maintained property, total privacy but access to everything you need (beach, restaurants, on-site pool/parking/tiki bar) clean and shiny studio apartment with full kitchen Highlights: - brewing local coffee in our kitchen and enjoying the early mornings on our private balcony with ocean view - lots of privacy and completely safe grounds although right in the middle of town where in only 3 days we recognized everyone - falling asleep to the sounds of the coqui! - watching the Olympics with Dianna and Gino - what great hosts! Overall - Rincon is a great town for a getaway. We could not have stayed anywhere else as beautiful, clean, welcoming, and safe. It was a bonus that the price was so reasonable."Guest: Hope Date of Stay: February 2014 Review Submitted: February 18, 2014View listing
"My son and I travelled to Cayman Brac for the U15 girls CONCACAF tournament, not knowing what we were getting into we trusted Minnie 100% and winged it. Everything she suggested, emailed, and arranged was perfect. The pictures are exactly what you are going to experience. The apartment was the cleanest on the beach a true Caribbean gem that I have stayed at. The bakery and the ice cream place were both just as spotless and the treats were heavenly. Hank was a true pleasure to meet, his knowledge of the island and love for Minnie is something you don't see very much in Western Culture. His energy and work ethics are top shelf for sure, anything you need, he is there for you. The kitchen fully equipped, cooked a few meals. The bed comfy, and listening to the ocean in the morning with coffee on the porch is priceless. You will need a car, as the island is not a walking friendly from A to B place but have Minnie arrange it for you, they drop off and pick up on a moments notice. We were not here for diving - lots of soccer - but others said it was breath taking and worth the 3 flights from Canada. This is a place to relax, de-stress, sleep, do some mind work and enjoy! The beach is great make sure you bring water shoes, the whole island is a reef very sharp. Thanks again Minnie!!! Top shelf find on Cayman Brac!"Guest: Soccer MOM Date of Stay: August 2014 Review Submitted: August 12, 2014View listing
Mexican Caribbean Travel Tips
Finding Your Way to Mexican Caribbean Vacation Rentals
The primary airport on the Mexican Caribbean coast is in Cancun. Over the years, Cancun has become a vibrant resort vacation destination that is popular with international travelers. Cancun International Airport has regular daily flights with most major cities in the United States. There are also regular commercial flights to major European cities such as London, Paris, Frankfurt and Madrid. Many national air carriers from South America also have scheduled flights from cities such as Sao Paolo, Lima, Caracus and Bogota. Because of its good flight connections, Cancun often serves as a travel hub for European travelers visiting Central America and the Caribbean. Cancun has a state-of-the-art cruise port where many international cruise liners dock for a few days as part of their cruises. Guests disembark to enjoy the stunning beaches and excellent shopping opportunities in the region.
Best Time of Year to Travel to Mexican Caribbean Villas
Mexico's Caribbean coastline enjoys a warm tropical climate. There is little seasonal difference in the temperatures. The main seasonal difference is in the amount of rainfall that occurs and the resulting higher levels of humidity. The coastline is susceptible to tropical storms that sometimes blow through in the late summer months of August and September. This is traditionally the low tourist season. For all other times of the year, there is a consistent influx of travelers to Mexico's Caribbean coast. The peak travel season is often in December when the weather is a little more temperate and there are lower levels of humidity. The peak season often extends to April and includes the Easter vacation period.
Activities and Attractions at Mexican Caribbean Resort Rentals
Some of the main attractions on the Mexico Caribbean coastline are the many superb resorts that are concentrated there. Many of these resorts offer vacations on an all-inclusive basis where guests can enjoy a wide range of facilities and sporting activities. Water sports centers have windsurfers, sea kayaks, paddle skis, Jet Skis and boats available so guests can enjoy the warm tropical waters. Volleyball and racquetball sets are also set up on the beachfront. Tournaments and various other activities and excursions are frequently arranged by the resorts. Most of the resorts are concentrated in Cancun and on the nearby island of Cozumel.
This stretch of Mexico's coast is home to one of the world's largest barrier reefs. It extends from the top of the Yucatan Peninsula down the length of the country and then still further south to Belize and Guatemala. This reef provides excellent diving and has sites suitable for both novice and advanced divers. For those who prefer to snorkel, there are many sections of shallow reefs off the coast of Cancun and Cozumel where you can go on a snorkeling excursion. The area is also home to some of the most significant Mayan temples and ruins. Guided tours provide insight into the ancient Aztec culture and traditions. Many of the ruins are set amongst dense tropical foliage and just getting there is an adventure in itself. For travelers looking for a quieter vacation destination along the Mexican Caribbean coast, there are many smaller resorts further south along the coast
