  • Best vacation ever!

"Well we just got back from a 7 day stay in this amazing home. Everything was perfect from start to finish. Orlando was a great, real friendly and helpful. We went with one other couple and everyone agrees it was the best vacation they have had. I highly recommend staying at this house, Kelli and Rob are a pleasure to deal with, very prompt and professional service. We booked a sailing and snorkel trip through Seaduced which picked us up right at the Palapa bar then took us to town where we got on a catamaran then we sailed to Hol Chan Marine Reserve and did some snorkelling then off to Shark and Ray Alley where we swam with sharks and rays then we sailed to Caye Caulker where we explored the island for 2 hours and had lunch. We then jumped back on the boat and sailed back to San Pedro. Another great thing to do is rent some bicycles and head north or south (we did both) and just explore. It was an unforgettable time, we are already thinking about going back!"

  • 5/5

  • Great Low Key Family Spot

"My family and I stayed at Scuba Shack for Spring Break this year. We have 4 children age 7-15. My three older kids are all certified divers (as is my wife and me). This was, to date, our best family vacation. The house is very nicely decorated and includes all normal accoutrements. Rick (the owner) provided scuba tanks for us to use along with the ability to have them filled on an as needed basis. He was also readily available and responsive to any questions I had before, during and after the rental. If you are looking for the night life, this is not the place for you. If you are looking to get away this is definitely a great spot. There is a condo adjacent to the property but I do not recall seeing a single inhabitant of that complex during our one week stay. The house is on the North side of the Island and is very rural. That was perfect for us. The reason we rented this house is for the ability to dive right off the beach. Your ability to dive here is dictated by the prevailing winds. When the wind is from the North, diving is not going to happen here. When the winds are from the South, the sea is dead calm and shore diving is a breeze. The wind was from the South for 1/2 of our stay. There is a reef about 150 feet or so off shore that starts at about 30-40' and drops down to about 60' or so. If you swim past that another 150' or so you hit the wall. It starts at about 80' and drops totally out of sight (probably 3,500'). The reef is cool, but the Wall is the reason to dive Cayman. The diving was awesome but to have it right off the back porch with no travel to the dive shop, no ride on the boat sucking diesel fumes and so forth was incredible. I would not hesitate to rent the Scuba Shack again."

  • Private little paradise

"My husband and I stayed here with our 4 year old daughter for two weeks. It was a perfect little family getaway. The house is seculded so it was a nice and quiet break from our usual tourist traps. My daughter loved walking down to the beach and and over to the horse farm just a few properties over. The house was very basic, but was clean and stocked well. We did our own cooking and had everything we needed (except WIFI but you can get that at restaurants and cafes downtown). We rented a golf cart which was definately needed to get down town, Beautiful island. Friendly people. Can't wait to go back."

Mexican Caribbean Travel Tips

Finding Your Way to Mexican Caribbean Vacation Rentals

The primary airport on the Mexican Caribbean coast is in Cancun. Over the years, Cancun has become a vibrant resort vacation destination that is popular with international travelers. Cancun International Airport has regular daily flights with most major cities in the United States. There are also regular commercial flights to major European cities such as London, Paris, Frankfurt and Madrid. Many national air carriers from South America also have scheduled flights from cities such as Sao Paolo, Lima, Caracus and Bogota. Because of its good flight connections, Cancun often serves as a travel hub for European travelers visiting Central America and the Caribbean. Cancun has a state-of-the-art cruise port where many international cruise liners dock for a few days as part of their cruises. Guests disembark to enjoy the stunning beaches and excellent shopping opportunities in the region.

Best Time of Year to Travel to Mexican Caribbean Villas

Mexico's Caribbean coastline enjoys a warm tropical climate. There is little seasonal difference in the temperatures. The main seasonal difference is in the amount of rainfall that occurs and the resulting higher levels of humidity. The coastline is susceptible to tropical storms that sometimes blow through in the late summer months of August and September. This is traditionally the low tourist season. For all other times of the year, there is a consistent influx of travelers to Mexico's Caribbean coast. The peak travel season is often in December when the weather is a little more temperate and there are lower levels of humidity. The peak season often extends to April and includes the Easter vacation period.

Activities and Attractions at Mexican Caribbean Resort Rentals

Some of the main attractions on the Mexico Caribbean coastline are the many superb resorts that are concentrated there. Many of these resorts offer vacations on an all-inclusive basis where guests can enjoy a wide range of facilities and sporting activities. Water sports centers have windsurfers, sea kayaks, paddle skis, Jet Skis and boats available so guests can enjoy the warm tropical waters. Volleyball and racquetball sets are also set up on the beachfront. Tournaments and various other activities and excursions are frequently arranged by the resorts. Most of the resorts are concentrated in Cancun and on the nearby island of Cozumel.

This stretch of Mexico's coast is home to one of the world's largest barrier reefs. It extends from the top of the Yucatan Peninsula down the length of the country and then still further south to Belize and Guatemala. This reef provides excellent diving and has sites suitable for both novice and advanced divers. For those who prefer to snorkel, there are many sections of shallow reefs off the coast of Cancun and Cozumel where you can go on a snorkeling excursion. The area is also home to some of the most significant Mayan temples and ruins. Guided tours provide insight into the ancient Aztec culture and traditions. Many of the ruins are set amongst dense tropical foliage and just getting there is an adventure in itself. For travelers looking for a quieter vacation destination along the Mexican Caribbean coast, there are many smaller resorts further south along the coast
