  • Beautiful family vacation

"This was our first time to St.Thomas. The location was perfect. My husband and 2 kids ( 4 and 11) had a great time. The view in the morning is amazing while enjoying your coffee! We took a boat trip to British Virgin Islands to snorkel and see Virgin Gorda (totally worth the money). We ended up having such a great time so we booked an all day sailboat trip to St. Johns to snorkel some more. The boat trips pick you up right outside the condo. The beach at the condo is white sand and crystal blue water. We went on this vacation with another family that stayed next door (also owned by Phil and Angela). Our patios were connected by balcony door ( that we just left open ). It was such a bonus to be able to be able to visit with each other, eat breakfast on the patio together, but also still have our own place. We rented a car in St. Thomas and drove around the island, dinners, grocery, etc. We put our car on the ferry and took it to St. Johns for the day to explore that island and all the wonderful secluded beaches it has to offer. ( FYI There is only 1 rental car company that lets you take your car on the car ferry) We had professional family pictures taken on the beach right outside the condo- it was a beautiful location. My kids loved the 2 level pool at the condo with a view right into sapphire beach. Special thanks to Phil and Angela- their place was very nice and clean and they have thought of everything! Beach chairs, coolers, towels and all the kitchen appliances you would need. This was an awesome family vacation."

  • Great House

"The layout of this house was odd, but actually worked for our group perfectly. There is a two-bedroom unit on the top floor with a full kitchen/living area/bathroom/balcony, a two-bedroom unit on the middle floor that is identical, and two master suite bedrooms on the ground floor (that open to the pool area) each with their own bath but no living area or kitchens. For our multi-family group this worked really well, but it wasn't obvious to us by reading the description that it was laid out like this. The house is huge and well furnished. the pool area is spectacular and GREAT for kids (most of it is like a wading pool, so there will be no lap swimming here). The views are nice, but this house looks north, so no really beautiful sunsets. I guess you could walk to the beach if you wanted, but this house in on a really steep hill so I can't imagine doing that, plus the beaches within walking distance are surfing beaches and not good for kids. The drive to the beach wasn't far though. The only reason I am not giving this place 5 stars is because we ran out of water twice in our week long stay. I don't mean we ran out of hot water either, I mean we were dry. We weren't using the water excessively and didn't even have all the bedrooms full. You would think that they would plan to have enough water in the reserve tanks for the number of bedrooms in the house. That being said, the rental company was fast to respond and fix the problem. But it was a bummer to not be able to shower after getting back from the beach, or run the dishwasher, or flush the toilet (you get the idea). Even with the water issues though I would still recommend this place. It was as awesome as the pictures show and the rental company was great to work with."

  • Wonderful stay at Orchid Cottage

"My husband and I stayed at Orchid Cottage for a week (late March into early April.) The location was excellent. Centrally located to beaches, Cruz Bay or Coral Bay. The views are just wonderful and the cool breeze from being up in the hills was a welcome relief after a hot day on the south side of St. John. We played tennis on the adjacent court every day - most of the time in the morning, but the court is nicely shaded for play in the late afternoon. The cottage is very sweet and perfect for a couple. I must say it was extremely satisfactory and better than I had imagined from the pictures. Hosts Bill and Suzanne were very helpful although we only saw them on the day we arrived and the morning we departed. Definitely need to have a vehicle as the cottage is a ways off the major road. Also wanted to add that because of the slope of the driveway and entry, it could be difficult access to the cottage for anyone with mobility issues. I feel very lucky we found this rental on VRBO!"

  • Simply Amazing

"This villa is by far the most beautiful place on the island. We have been to the Virgin Islands several times, but never, ever stayed in such luxury. The master bath is to die for! I wanted to bring it home to my house! The privacy is fantastic and the décor is elegant. So much care has gone into everything. I am a clean freak and usually think the island houses are a bit dirty---but not this one!!! The cleaning crew treats the house as though it is their own and the villa manager is just about the sweetest person on earth, SO helpful. The views are just amazing. You could sit all day by the pool and never get bored because it is just so gorgeous. I hate to write such positive reviews because too many people will want to stay here and we may not be able to get in when we want to come back!"

Mexican Caribbean Travel Tips

Finding Your Way to Mexican Caribbean Vacation Rentals

The primary airport on the Mexican Caribbean coast is in Cancun. Over the years, Cancun has become a vibrant resort vacation destination that is popular with international travelers. Cancun International Airport has regular daily flights with most major cities in the United States. There are also regular commercial flights to major European cities such as London, Paris, Frankfurt and Madrid. Many national air carriers from South America also have scheduled flights from cities such as Sao Paolo, Lima, Caracus and Bogota. Because of its good flight connections, Cancun often serves as a travel hub for European travelers visiting Central America and the Caribbean. Cancun has a state-of-the-art cruise port where many international cruise liners dock for a few days as part of their cruises. Guests disembark to enjoy the stunning beaches and excellent shopping opportunities in the region.

Best Time of Year to Travel to Mexican Caribbean Villas

Mexico's Caribbean coastline enjoys a warm tropical climate. There is little seasonal difference in the temperatures. The main seasonal difference is in the amount of rainfall that occurs and the resulting higher levels of humidity. The coastline is susceptible to tropical storms that sometimes blow through in the late summer months of August and September. This is traditionally the low tourist season. For all other times of the year, there is a consistent influx of travelers to Mexico's Caribbean coast. The peak travel season is often in December when the weather is a little more temperate and there are lower levels of humidity. The peak season often extends to April and includes the Easter vacation period.

Activities and Attractions at Mexican Caribbean Resort Rentals

Some of the main attractions on the Mexico Caribbean coastline are the many superb resorts that are concentrated there. Many of these resorts offer vacations on an all-inclusive basis where guests can enjoy a wide range of facilities and sporting activities. Water sports centers have windsurfers, sea kayaks, paddle skis, Jet Skis and boats available so guests can enjoy the warm tropical waters. Volleyball and racquetball sets are also set up on the beachfront. Tournaments and various other activities and excursions are frequently arranged by the resorts. Most of the resorts are concentrated in Cancun and on the nearby island of Cozumel.

This stretch of Mexico's coast is home to one of the world's largest barrier reefs. It extends from the top of the Yucatan Peninsula down the length of the country and then still further south to Belize and Guatemala. This reef provides excellent diving and has sites suitable for both novice and advanced divers. For those who prefer to snorkel, there are many sections of shallow reefs off the coast of Cancun and Cozumel where you can go on a snorkeling excursion. The area is also home to some of the most significant Mayan temples and ruins. Guided tours provide insight into the ancient Aztec culture and traditions. Many of the ruins are set amongst dense tropical foliage and just getting there is an adventure in itself. For travelers looking for a quieter vacation destination along the Mexican Caribbean coast, there are many smaller resorts further south along the coast
