  • Wonderfully Relaxing Vacation

"We just returned from a 9 day stay in this villa. This is our first experience staying off an all inclusive resort and we found it much more relaxing, and less scheduled than staying on resort. The villa was spotless and contained everything we needed. My husband and I could not think of one item that was lacking - it was perfect! We were particularly excited to see the blender when we entered, along with a recipe book for making Caribbean drinks, which we made good use of daily! And, of course, thank you very much for the welcome beer and milk in the refrigerator! I particularly enjoyed the direction the patio faced as we got the morning sun right from sun up. I sat there each morning with my book and my rum cream coffee - what a treat. And the walk to the North beach is very short. We spent a lot of time there both in the afternoon, and watching the the sunset in the evening. We loved that both beaches were not in any way crowded. We did walk everywhere - we wanted to do this for the exercise - but if you plan to do so you must bring a good pair of walking shoes. We enjoyed the restaurants very much - particularly lunch at the Crow's Nest and dinner at Al Port. We found the prices very reasonable, and the food was excellent. All in all, a fabulous place to stay! Thank you Elton and Jayne - you have a real gem there!"

"The condo was all updated and charming. I was provided with all amenities I needed. Everything was clean and all the people on the property were friendly. It has great access to the beach and they even provide you with lounge chairs. There is a small shop where you can rent snorkel gear and such and there is plenty of wildlife right off the beach. I will definitely come back"

  • Fantastic Villa...Great Vacation

"My family of six stayed in the 2BDR townhouse in February 2015. The villa was clean, well-appointed, and in good condition. Harri ensured that we had all that we needed. The kitchen had all of the amenities one would expect in a full kitchen. The villa is on the top of large hill. The Westin provides golf cart rides whenever one calls the front desk, but we chose to walk up and down regularly. The villa has its own pool shared with other villa residents. The larger, main pool is beautiful, but we spent more time at the villa pool given the proximity and privacy. The villa pool area has two excellent Viking Grills so we BBQ'd almost every night. This is one of the most beautiful Westin properties I have seen. St. John has amazing beaches. Renting a jeep is not required, but we highly recommend it. The beach at the Westin is small and not very pretty by St. John standards. Rent a jeep and explore. There are taxis but it is more economical to rent a jeep if you have 4+ travelers (much more flexible too). The biggest complaint about the villa was the pullout bed on the first floor: not too comfortable. This is a minor ding on a great villa. We want to come back to the same place next year."

  • Respite from a long winter

"Cliffhanger is a great launching pad or destination in its own right! All three bedrooms are clean, comfortable and tastefully decorated, and have to-die-for views and private bathrooms. The common space has a fourth full bathroom. The kitchen has more stuff than any place we've rented before, including a coffee maker, blender, rice cooker, toaster, and plenty of dishes and cookware. The two decks offer a cool breeze and plenty of shade for hanging out together, or apart, and enjoying the sound of the surf and amazing view of the ocean. You could easily spend your days just chilling at the house. If you want to get out, I would drive. Although the house is very close to a few shops (including Dolphin Market-- which has excellent produce and some items I would expect to see at a high end store on the mainland), the windy road has very little shoulder, and the cars go pretty fast. If you want to go for a run, you likewise should drive someplace. (I enjoyed the rough dirt road and then trails by Great and Little Lameshur beaches.) Other recommendations: 1) You can't beat a sunrise hike up Ram Head, just beyond Salt Pond Bay. (It's nice any time, but at sunrise you'll have the trail to yourself, and likely won't have to share the beach upon your return.) 2) Rent kayaks at Crabby's and paddle to Hurricane Hole. (Go for the full day. A half day wasn't enough to take it all in.) 3) Most of us got massages by Suki, who was excellent! sukistjohn@gmail.com. We set up on the lower deck, which offered total privacy, along with a cool breeze, and the sound of the surf. 4) Getting in the water at the base of the steep wood and stone stairway from the house is challenging, but rewarding. There's decent coral along the edge in the direction of the harbor. 5) Don't miss dinner at Sweet Plaintains! (We went twice.) 6) Keep your eye open for live music opportunities. We caught some on Thursday night at Skinny Legs and wished we'd gone earlier. 7) And, of course, the beaches. In addition to the popular north shore beaches (we really liked Francis Bay, next to Maho Bay), Coral Bay offers its own gems. If you prefer a sandy beach, Salt Pond Bay and Little Lameshur are nice. If you crave solitude, and don't mid a smooth pebble beach, Great Lameshur is appealing. Denise was attentive before, during and after our trip, and the property manager graciously accommodated our unexpectedly late arrival due to flight snafus. We were well cared for!"
