  • Little Taste Of Heaven

"This was our first trip to the Bahamas and we rented this wonderful place sight unseen. The cottage and island far exceeded our expectations. We were met by the owner at the public dock and he quickly helped us settle into the private parrot perch cottage. It was private, had a rustic setting but didn't feel rustic at all, and had a gorgeous view. We felt like we hit the jackpot. The place was immaculate and everything and anything we could possibly need was available. The caretakers Jenny and Jeff were always available and very patient with our newbie questions. We loved the breeze the flowed through the cottage and the sound of the ocean at night. We will be back to visit again soon. Counting the days."

  • Quiet island time

"We just returned from a one week stay at Gumbo Limbo and had a very relaxing time there. The house is excellent quality with a real beachy feel from the decor to the views of ocean on both sides. The screened in porch is excellent and we ate all our meals out there as well as many card games. The no-see-ums will still get you at some point though. The house has lovely breezes so we only needed the fans on our last day. The community dock being nearby did mean some golf carts and people traipsing past but apart from that we rarely saw anyone at the semi private beach. The snorkelling was ok there, having snorkelled around the world it was acceptable. My husband saw a large manta ray and we saw a reef shark. There is fan coral and someone else saw a turtle. Most days it was a little windy on that side and some choppiness to the ocean but what amazing aqua water. You will need to rent a golf cart, I think that its not an option. I walked once from the beach but it wasn't possible to go right along the beach so it is a bit of a long walk. The track on the house side of the island degrades after the Orchid development into a very rough bumpy track. Being 22 weeks pregnant I often had to hop off and walk. So I'd be aware of this if you have problems with riding a bumpy track. Of course we sometimes didn't go into the town and enjoyed chilling out at the house. The garden is very nicely done and there are lots of great books to read as well as internet, radio, tv, dvds. The island does not have a huge array of dining options. We did dine at Nippers but felt Grabbers was better for a bit more Caribbean flare. We brought some groceries across on the ferry but did run low so went to the grocery store on the island which had just as much or little! You can get creative with a box of brownie mix, there's an oven, or make your own cocktails, there's a blender. There are quite a few feral cats on the island. There were three that hung around the house. Hope you like cats. Our little boy enjoyed giving them a few tidbits. We had quite the journey to get home due to lining up ferry, flights and customs. I'd allow a good amount of time between any connecting flights and make sure you know the ferry times, we had to wait around a bit for the last ferry but its right at Curly Tails so you can enjoy a drink and some conch fritters while waiting. Overall we had a very enjoyable holiday and it was what we wanted, quiet, beach and warm weather."

  • Wonderful stay on Grace Bay

"Our week at this condo was amazing in every way. The condo is exactly as advertised - perfect location, large private balcony where you can almost reach out to touch the beach, very clean, and all of the amenities you could want. The resort grounds are very well maintained and the tropical plants and flowers are beautiful. It was especially nice to have the resort staff ensure that we always had lounge chairs and an umbrella at the beach, with no extra charge involved. The resort location allowed us to walk to a variety of restaurants (including some recommended by the condo owners), so not renting a car was not a problem. We often walked along the beach at night to one of the area restaurants for dinner - dark but there are enough lights to make it easy and relaxing. We even walked to the grocery store, mostly along the beach as well. It was about 20 minutes. But the taxi company we used from the airport included a free trip to the grocery as well so you could stock up for the week. We had all of our breakfasts and lunches on the wonderful balcony - an added treat that also saved a few $$$. While we chose not to use the pools since the beach was so spectacular, they are both nicely done. Since the "Sail Provo" boating trip was not available when we wanted to go, we instead used Island Vibes tours which was great for some snorkeling and visiting an uninhabited island with another beautiful beach. Pickup was right at the beach. Prior to our visit, I had several questions for the condo owners, and they were always prompt and thorough in the responses."

  • Rejuvenation close to nature with the comforts of home. It doesn’t get any better than this!

"This year we stayed at Pebble Cove and were so happy to discover this incredible location! The house provided the ideal home for the four of us: spacious, comfortable, great views, amazing sunsets and the sense of living so close to the rhythms of nature. It was easy to forget what day or time it was. All I needed to know was: time for a swim, time to eat or maybe time for a soak in the hot tub. I loved sitting on the deck under the gazebo and looking across the bright blues of Haulover Bay to the land that is all National Park, knowing that it will remain virgin, unspoiled forest. We were able to buy fresh fish from the fisherman in Coral Bay. We also found local honey, papaya, mangos, star fruit and plantains at a small fruit stand in Coral Bay. We also bought fresh greens from Josephine, whose garden center is just down the road from the Love City Market. It was great to see her gardens, a flat area nestled between the hills. This is my fourth trip to St. John and the first time I have seen where she grows her produce. The arugula and mixed greens are great! We walked half mile down the road from Pebble Cove to Vie’s for some West Indian food and then rented her kayak to explore Coral Bay waters. It was fun to get out further and snorkel new areas of the vast bay that East End surrounds. I do wish I had taken my hat! Since we have explored St. John before on our other trips, we didn’t feel compelled to do it all again and mostly stayed on East End and at Pebble Cove. Everything we needed was right there...the lounge chairs on the beach, a hammock, good food, our favorite music, good company, great sunsets, even a few rain showers at night to cool things off. We did eat out at Aqua Bistro in Coral Bay a few times (good!) and had lunch at Sundog when we went to Cruz Bay, but otherwise we were quite content at Pebble Cove. I am carrying home memories of blissfully rocking in that hammock in the shade, listening to the lapping of the water on the shore. We will be back! Thanks, Linda and Allen, for sharing your special place with us."
