  • a little slice if heaven

"My husband and I had the pleasure of staying in this beachfront house. We were met by the caretakers who gave us some information and guided us down the steep driveway. Then they left us to enjoy the outstanding view, peace and quite. We cooked all our meals at the house and hung out on the deck. The outdoor furniture was nice. It was windy the first few days with rough water, there was also seaweed bloom on the beach, coral beach, and know the water. We did get one day of calm water and no seaweed so we got to swim and snorkel, both were great, best ever. This is a divine home, we would highly recommend for an escape for the world because you will swear you are the only ones on the island. Thanks Bob for sharing your home."

  • Beautiful Beachfront!

"Our extended family of 10 enjoyed a week in this fabulous beachfront property! The house is gorgeous and directly on the beach. It is in a gated community with 24 hour security. The manager, Mark, was very helpful in answering questions and making our arrival seamless. On windy days, the beach is loaded with kiters and windsurfers from about 11am on...not good for swimming. However, morning boogie boarding was great and on low wind days the swimming was perfect! The beach is clean fine sand where you can walk out quite a ways before it gets too deep. We hired a cook for the week, Illuminada. She was wonderful and arranged though Mark. She prepared some delicious local dishes that we enjoyed tremendously. Ana cleans the house daily which was great considering all the sand we trekked in. Manuel did a great job cleaning the pool and the grounds. The house itself was in great condition. There are four bedrooms (two bedrooms with queens, one bedroom with 2 queens and one bedroom with 4 bunks). It was clean and well cared for. The only trouble we had was with the dishwasher and one of the air conditioning units...which were a plus for sleeping! The pool was perfect for the kids...age 12 and under. It is an easy walk to downtown Cabarete...a great spot for lunch or dinner. We kited, windsurfed, paddle boarded, zip lined, visited the monkeys, visited the local school with donations, jumped off waterfalls, went fishing, body surfed, built sandcastles, swam and walked for miles! It's a wonderful vacation destination!!!"

  • I fell in love with Vieques

"We thoroughly enjoy our stay on Vieques. It was so much more (and so much more beautiful) than we imagined. Pura Vida was a perfect size home for us- the kids (which are more like young adults- 15 & 22) loved having their own space- to read, listen to their music and do their social-media thing. (YES! free Wifi) The house came with plenty of board games & movies which we made very good use of after long days on the beach. The house had everything we needed, it was comfortable & roomy & the location was perfect. We learned our way around quickly with Joe & Mimi's help (They were really awesome) and we enjoyed so many great beaches and some FANTASTIC meals. After a few mornings, even the Roosters didn't seem so bad :) (side note; if you're a light sleeper, I suggest ear plugs but that goes for ANYWHERE on the island....) The house had a very powerful AC system that was recently put in. It was so powerful that we really didnt need it the entire night... Most nights we would wake up freezing at 2 or 3am and shut it off completely. The house is within walking distance to El Malecon which is filled with GREAT places to eat & drink. The house was also 3 short blocks from a delicious town bakery that sold the most amazing, piping hot, bread and pastries!! We'd walk over to the bakery in the early morning (he closes by noon) and we'd make some great breakfast sandwiches before we would head out. The kitchen is equip with everything you can possibly need. Coffee Maker, Blenders.. They also supply beach chairs, beach towels and for families with small children; plenty of sand toys and things of that sort. Much to my surprise there was a washer and dryer on the back porch which made keeping the clothes fresh and dry a lot easier. The small yard also has a clothes line to dry off damp clothing that might not necessarily need to be washed. There are many wonderful and secluded beaches to visit on Vieques and most of the time, there will be very few people sharing the beach with you. I cant speak enough about the food. WOW!! Consistently good no matter where you went. Having the SUV was a MUST!!!!!! Yes, you can walk to places from the house but you'd be doing yourself an injustice not having a car there and venturing out. Driving is easy and you quickly learn that there are only 3 main roads.... You cant go wrong! I can go on and on about Pura Vida & Vieques but I will just end it by saying; We WILL BE BACK!!!!!!"

  • Awesome Location!

"Pictures are exactly as it appears. The condo is right on the waters edge, I walked out many mornings to put my feet in the water and look out to the beautiful views. This is not a swimming beach, too much seaweed, but it's great for water sports. The complex has it's own jet ski's for rent on site, along with kayaks, paddle boats, etc., at no cost. There is a restaurant, and a beach bar. It's centrally located to both sides of the island and easy to get to phenomonal french restaurants, and beautiful beaches!! Do it, you won't be disappointed!!"

Netherlands Antilles Travel Tips

Best Time of Year to Visit Netherlands Antilles Vacation Rentals

The Netherlands Antilles are a group of islands located in the Caribbean. They enjoy a year-round warm tropical climate where the season is defined by the the amount of rain rather than the temperatures. There is little different between summer and winter except that in the summer months, there are higher levels of humidity and greater amounts of rainfall. Late summer is when tropical storms can blow through and this is therefore the low travel season. At other times of year, the islands enjoy a warm climate. The peak travel season is from December to April which coincides with the dry season. This conveniently coincides with the winter season of the northern hemisphere and is a welcome excuse for travelers from the United States, Canada and Europe to escape from the chilly winter temperatures back home.

Traveling to the Netherlands Antilles Villas

The Netherlands Antilles are made up of several islands. Each has its own international airport and good flight connections. Curacao, St. Maarten, Saba, Bonaire and St. Eustatius are the five islands. The airports on Curacao, St. Maarten and Bonaire are equipped to handle long-haul international flights and there are regular commercial arrivals from Amsterdam, Miami, Atlanta, New York City and Caracus in South America. The other islands have shorter runways which can accommodate smaller commercial aircraft. When traveling to one of the smaller islands, you can get regional flight connections. There are also ferry connections between St. Maarten and Saba that operate on a weekly basis.

Attractions and Activities near Netherlands Antilles Resort Rentals

Being tropical islands in the Caribeban, their primary attractions are the beautiful sandy beaches. If you do nothing else on your vacation, you can laze in the sun and enjoy the warm weather and stunning tropical scenery. When you want to cool off, you can g for a swim in the turquoise ocean that surrounds the islands. The islands have magnificent coral reefs and places like Saba are often considered some of the most elite dive sites of the world. Crystal-clear visibility, warm water temperatures, and gentle currents all combine to make for ideal diving conditions.

Rich coral reefs and walls are home to a myriad of reef fish. If you want to see the larger pelagic, you can do some big blue dives or explore the drop-offs. This is definitely a destination where you will want to have an advanced diving certification so you can get to enjoy the very best of the dive sites. Some of the shallower reefs and coral bommies can be enjoyed from the water's surface. Cruises and snorkeling excursions can take you out to the reefs where you can enjoy hours of snorkeling. Make sure you lather on loads of sunscreen when you go on a snorkeling excursion to avoid getting sunburned. On the islands, there are national parks and wildlife sanctuaries where you can go birdwatching and explore nature trails. Sailing is a popular pastime and cruise charters can be easily arranged.

Visitors to Caribbean Vacation Rentals in the Netherlands Antilles

The Netherland Antilles are generally considered more up-market destinations because they are quite remote and expensive. On the island, you will find predominantly European travelers from the Netherlands and France. The islands are becoming increasingly popular with travelers from North America, particularly those who have an interest in scuba diving. The world-class diving is probably one of the main attractions that draws travelers from around the globe.
