  • Perfect Caribbean Vacation

"I travel a lot and stay in many beautiful places. Valerie’s house tops the list! The photos don’t begin to capture the beauty of the location. We spent every night drinking wine on the porch, looking out at the ocean and basking in the warm night-time breeze. The house is thoughtfully designed and appointed and the layout of the house is perfect for indoor/outdoor living. Valerie was an incredible host, offering up tips on the best surf spots and kayak and wind-surfing rentals. When we had trouble with our rental car at the airport, Valerie called a local place, got us a good deal and convinced the company to bring the car to us! She was a perfect hostess and it is a perfect home—I can’t wait to be back."

  • Great Budget Rental for Couple

"We had a fabulous stay in Maho at this rental! The room was just big enough for us (a couple) and we loved the property. The resort was very nice and the pool/bar area was very conveniently located on the property. We took a taxi from the airport to the resort, but took the local buses around the island for the rest of the trip (for about $1.50/person each way to wherever we were going), which was very convenient and economical! Buses run nearly all day and we could get one any time we needed by walking over to Maho Village. We visited a few places around the Dutch side of the island and never needed a car for anything we wanted to do or see. We went to Phillipsburg for some duty-free shopping (but make sure to go on a day when shops are all open and there is at least one cruise ship!) and jet skiing for only $50/half an hour for two people on a jet ski. We ate at The Blue Bitch Bar and it was excellent. We went to Simpson Bay and went on the Aquamania Lambada Boat Tour to Prickly Pear and Anguilla--HIGHLY recommend this day trip with a great barbecue lunch and open bar on the boat!! We went to dinner at Lee's and lunch at Topper's in Simpson Bay, which were both great. We had great french pastries and desserts at La Sucriere and The Taste Factory, also in Simpson Bay. In Maho, we went to the Casino Royale, which was the best casino on the island. We ate at Sunset Beach bar, Sopranos, and Fashion Cafe, and had great drinks at The Dream (at the resort) and Driftwood Boat Bar (strongest rum punch we had!). The listing for this rental was very accurate. The condo was small, but we knew that when we booked the property. The rental was exactly as pictured and included all items listed in the description, which was great. The property was very clean and uncluttered, leaving us room to fit all of our things in the condo. Terry was very helpful in answering our questions about the island and provided us with a great list of restaurants, shopping, casinos, recreation, etc. before the trip so we could plan ahead. He was readily available when I called with questions before and after we booked with him. I will definitely recommend this property to anyone going to St. Maarten. Terry was great to work with and I would recommend any of his properties to friends and family!"

  • Amazing Tropical Vacation

"Wave Dance was the perfect vacation. We were a group of 7 young professionals desperate for a vacation and couldn't have asked for a better time. The location of the house is perfect. It is a quick ten minute walk on the beach in to town (bars, restaurants, shops). We walked on the street one day and it took a little longer and was a bit scary. Driving the the DR is an art form and should not be taken lightly! Definitely recommend taking the beach walk vs. street walk. The house is located in a gated community called Bahia Arena. We felt very safe and liked being a little bit away from town because it's quiet at night (town stays very loud Thursday-Saturday). The house is a 2 minute walk to the beach. There are security guards on patrol 24/7 in the front and down by the beach. There is a small coffee shop near the entrance of the community called Cabarete Coffee Company. It is a great place to grab breakfast, lunch or a smoothie. Their coffee was excellent, and we brought some home. The house itself is beautiful. It is a great place to make dinner and relax on the wrap around patio. The upstairs has plenty of windows and we enjoyed the breeze. The house is perfect for a set of 2 families because it has the separated sides/kitchens. The maid came every day and cleaned ,provided us with new towels. She was so nice and so respectful. The house is also stocked with plenty of water. The only downside to our trip was getting sick from the water, but that was probably our own fault from being naive about the water quality. You need to be very careful and use purified water for EVERYTHING. It's east to forget when making coffee, filling the ice trays, and brushing your teeth. The house could use a fresh coat of paint in the bed rooms and the beds were not the most comfortable, but we found these things as minor setbacks. The house is beautiful and newly remodeled. The bathroom were always clean. There is an outdoor shower which is great for after the beach. The pool was refreshing, and we enjoyed grilling and relaxing at the house. The kitchens are stocked with everything you need. There was a tv and wifi, but once you see the wrap around porch- you won't want to use them very much. The beach is a kite boarders dream. We enjoyed walking to the beach each day and watching them all in action. Additionally, every single person working for wave dance is amazing. Anything we needed, they were there in 5 minutes to help us. Thank you Alex for being so awesome!"

Netherlands Antilles Travel Tips

Best Time of Year to Visit Netherlands Antilles Vacation Rentals

The Netherlands Antilles are a group of islands located in the Caribbean. They enjoy a year-round warm tropical climate where the season is defined by the the amount of rain rather than the temperatures. There is little different between summer and winter except that in the summer months, there are higher levels of humidity and greater amounts of rainfall. Late summer is when tropical storms can blow through and this is therefore the low travel season. At other times of year, the islands enjoy a warm climate. The peak travel season is from December to April which coincides with the dry season. This conveniently coincides with the winter season of the northern hemisphere and is a welcome excuse for travelers from the United States, Canada and Europe to escape from the chilly winter temperatures back home.

Traveling to the Netherlands Antilles Villas

The Netherlands Antilles are made up of several islands. Each has its own international airport and good flight connections. Curacao, St. Maarten, Saba, Bonaire and St. Eustatius are the five islands. The airports on Curacao, St. Maarten and Bonaire are equipped to handle long-haul international flights and there are regular commercial arrivals from Amsterdam, Miami, Atlanta, New York City and Caracus in South America. The other islands have shorter runways which can accommodate smaller commercial aircraft. When traveling to one of the smaller islands, you can get regional flight connections. There are also ferry connections between St. Maarten and Saba that operate on a weekly basis.

Attractions and Activities near Netherlands Antilles Resort Rentals

Being tropical islands in the Caribeban, their primary attractions are the beautiful sandy beaches. If you do nothing else on your vacation, you can laze in the sun and enjoy the warm weather and stunning tropical scenery. When you want to cool off, you can g for a swim in the turquoise ocean that surrounds the islands. The islands have magnificent coral reefs and places like Saba are often considered some of the most elite dive sites of the world. Crystal-clear visibility, warm water temperatures, and gentle currents all combine to make for ideal diving conditions.

Rich coral reefs and walls are home to a myriad of reef fish. If you want to see the larger pelagic, you can do some big blue dives or explore the drop-offs. This is definitely a destination where you will want to have an advanced diving certification so you can get to enjoy the very best of the dive sites. Some of the shallower reefs and coral bommies can be enjoyed from the water's surface. Cruises and snorkeling excursions can take you out to the reefs where you can enjoy hours of snorkeling. Make sure you lather on loads of sunscreen when you go on a snorkeling excursion to avoid getting sunburned. On the islands, there are national parks and wildlife sanctuaries where you can go birdwatching and explore nature trails. Sailing is a popular pastime and cruise charters can be easily arranged.

Visitors to Caribbean Vacation Rentals in the Netherlands Antilles

The Netherland Antilles are generally considered more up-market destinations because they are quite remote and expensive. On the island, you will find predominantly European travelers from the Netherlands and France. The islands are becoming increasingly popular with travelers from North America, particularly those who have an interest in scuba diving. The world-class diving is probably one of the main attractions that draws travelers from around the globe. It is also a destination for those who enjoy beautiful beaches and pristine natural surroundings.
