"This home is truly my home away from home. I was blow away with the complete structure of the house. The description of Hummingbird as presented is accurate and then some. Each room gave off a feeling of love and tranquility. My favorite place of the house was the verandah. Each morning my family and myself would have breakfast together over looking the magnificent scenery. The garden is breath taking, well kept, colorful and vibrant. The house was airy and cool at night (no need for the air conditioner) Richard I salute your team of workers. Renesha (house manager) omg was wonderful, any questions, concerns or problems without hesitation she took care of them right away. The housekeeper, what a gem. The pool was maintained beautifully. This home is secure and safe so no need to worry. Once you arrive at Hummingbird you will feel as though you are on your own private island, I kid you not. Richard once again thank you for the hospitality that you gave my family and myself, I consider you a friend. To all that want a home away from home Hummingbird villa is the way to go. This visit to Nevis and my wonderful experience at Hummingbird will be a memory embedded in my heart forever. Bye bye for now Hummingbird see you next year."

  • Wonderful villa!

"We spent two wonderful weeks at Turks Inn Nevis in January. We loved everything about it! The view is spectacular and the house very comfortable. We loved dining, reading, and relaxing in the screen porch and around the pool. The monkeys were frequently in the yard and the goats paraded past on the road several times. The road to get to the villa is a bit tricky in places, but to us only added to the adventure. Nevis is laid back, beautiful, has some great restaurants, and the people were very welcoming. Thanks to the villa owner, Ali, for all the great recommendations. We look forward to returning to Nevis and Turks Inn!"

  • Paradise= Idyll Dreams

"We just returned from a week long vacation at Idyll Dreams with our two adult daughters. What an amazingly beautiful and peaceful place to stay! The house is beautifully appointed ,complete with a well stocked kitchen, books, videos and WiFI. The pool and view of St Kitts are breathtaking. The large yard is nicely landscaped with many flowering plants. We enjoyed exploring Nevis, it's beaches, plantations and wonderful restaurants. A highlight was a sailing/snorkel charter. We always loved returning to Idyll Dreams- In fact some days we never even left! The owners were very helpful and easy to deal with, answering all our questions. We hope to return again soon."

  • Garden Cottage - 2 thumbs up

"I enjoyed staying in the Garden Cottage very much. It was so nice, private, and serene to come back to after my day's wanderings. It was perfect for sleeping with its comfy bed; the kitchen and bathroom had everything I needed; and the deck was perfect for sitting, eating, and doing my own yoga rituals when I wasn't doing it with you, Veronica, on your deck, and, I loved you and Brett, Nelson, Florence, and Goldie. It was very helpful and personal care...and, I hope I will see you all again."

Nevis Travel Tips

Making Your Way to Nevis Vacation Rentals

Nevis is a small tropical island in the Caribbean. The island has only a small airport which receives regional flights. It is not equipped to handle major international flights. When traveling from North America or Europe, your best connection hubs will be San Juan on Puerto Rico, Antigua, St. Maarten or St. Kitts. All these hubs have regular regional flights to Nevis. If routing via St. Kitts, you also have the option of traveling by sea ferry. The trip takes approximately 45 minutes from port to port. Taxis provide transport on the islands from the airport to the ferry terminal.

Once on the island, if you want to do some independent exploring, you can hire a car for the duration of your stay. You will need to validate your driver's license at the local police station before you will be able to hire a car. The island also has privately run bus service which operates as the main form of public transport. Buses run between all the main towns during the day, with schedules operating less frequently at night.

Best Season to Visit Nevis Villas

As a tropical island paradise, Nevis enjoys a year-round warm climate. This means that even in what is considered to be the winter season, you can still catch a tan. In general, most visitors choose to travel in the milder dry season as the rain showers are less frequent and the humidity is much lower. The peak travel season is between December and April. The summer months are typically wetter with sometimes extreme levels of humidity. Tropical storms sometimes blow across the islands between the months of June and October. This is generally considered the low travel season. If you want to avoid the crowds but still enjoy some good weather, you may consider traveling in May or November.

If you love shopping, you can spend your days at the many colorful markets and local art galleries. There are many sporting activities available on Nevis ranging from horseback riding to tennis, golf and hiking. It is one of those beautiful destinations where you can choose to be as active or as lazy as you like. It is the ideal destination for that romantic getaway or a perfect island honeymoon.

Things to See and Do from Your Caribbean Vacation Rentals in Nevis

If you would like to explore the island's cultural heritage, there are many historical landmarks and places of interest in the island. Just outside of Charlestown, you can see the ruins of the Hamilton Estate. This was once a flourishing sugar plantation. The ruins are covered with tropical foliage and their location provides great views over the city of Charlestown. The Museum of Nevis History is housed in a beautiful Georgian Building which was the birthplace of the Alexander Hamilton. The museum is housed on the first two floors of the building and from it, you can enjoy views of the Nevis harbor and beyond to the neighboring island of St. Kitts. The beaches in Nevis provide safe swimming areas and ideal sunbathing locations. Many have inshore reefs where you can swim out and enjoy some snorkeling. Pinney's Beach, Herbert's Beach and Cades Bay are known for their many beach bars and vibrant nightlife.
