  • Fabulous Property!

"We absolutely loved our stay at Vervain Mill! Nevis is a great small island to get away to for a week & we enjoyed every bit of it. The mill is BEAUTIFUL! It would easily sleep 6 adults (possibly more) but was PERFECT for the two of us. The renovation of the mill was spectacular! All the amenities, and then some. Well kept, well maintained, immaculate. 3 bedrooms plus a lounge room, 3 bathrooms, full kitchen, gorgeous deck with views of the grounds, the ocean, the mountain, etc., beautiful grounds, pool, everything you could want. The mill is off the beaten path, which is exactly how we like it. Think seclusion, not isolation. But it only takes an hour to drive around the entire island, so you’re not far from anything. There are stores nearby so it’s easy to stock up on anything you need. We explored the island every day of our visit. There are great restaurants & plenty of recommendations at the property. There is a great museum on the next road, which we highly recommend – it’s the ruins you see as you drive down to the property. If you really get out onto the less travelled roads, you can find ruins of other mills to see just how awesome the renovation of Vervain really is. We booked a snorkeling trip with John which was definitely a highlight & we highly recommend. The mill itself offers enough to warrant booking it, but the management is what really puts it over the top. Wendy answered all of our questions and arranged for our trip to be so very relaxing. Without her, the trip could have been much different. We flew into St. Kitt’s late in the evening after the public ferry to Nevis ended. She arranged for a taxi to meet us at the airport to take us to a private ferry, which took us to Nevis, where another taxi was waiting to take us to the property. Wendy arranged for a local to prepare a meal & store in the fridge for when we arrived. Let me just say, do that! We ate that cake for the entire week. Wendy also arranged for a chef to come to the mill to prepare a meal for a special evening. And Wendy arranged for a rental car to be brought directly to the mill. We originally booked the mill because it was pretty much the same price as a decent hotel room. But we prefer to do our own thing & don’t really love the monotony of hotels. In the end, this was absolutely the best way to go. We loved everything about the property & the management. We absolutely recommend the property & would stay here again!"

  • So fantastic

"We absolutely loved staying here. The home has everything we could have needed and the property is beautiful. It was private, remote, and safe. Barbara and Sandy are amazing hosts and were so incredibly helpful with our trip. We were having trouble booking a Winnair flight...and they drive down to the airport and made all arrangements for us before we arrived. They really are just fantastic. The view is amazing, and we LOVED the dogs, the horse, and the donkeys on the property. Our favorite beach on the island is right down the hill. Always quiet and relatively empty. I also highly recommend the hike to Nevis peak. We are retuning very soon. Thanks so much for a wonderful week. :)"

  • Garden Cottage - 2 thumbs up

"I enjoyed staying in the Garden Cottage very much. It was so nice, private, and serene to come back to after my day's wanderings. It was perfect for sleeping with its comfy bed; the kitchen and bathroom had everything I needed; and the deck was perfect for sitting, eating, and doing my own yoga rituals when I wasn't doing it with you, Veronica, on your deck, and, I loved you and Brett, Nelson, Florence, and Goldie. It was very helpful and personal care...and, I hope I will see you all again."

Nevis Travel Tips

Making Your Way to Nevis Vacation Rentals

Nevis is a small tropical island in the Caribbean. The island has only a small airport which receives regional flights. It is not equipped to handle major international flights. When traveling from North America or Europe, your best connection hubs will be San Juan on Puerto Rico, Antigua, St. Maarten or St. Kitts. All these hubs have regular regional flights to Nevis. If routing via St. Kitts, you also have the option of traveling by sea ferry. The trip takes approximately 45 minutes from port to port. Taxis provide transport on the islands from the airport to the ferry terminal.

Once on the island, if you want to do some independent exploring, you can hire a car for the duration of your stay. You will need to validate your driver's license at the local police station before you will be able to hire a car. The island also has privately run bus service which operates as the main form of public transport. Buses run between all the main towns during the day, with schedules operating less frequently at night.

Best Season to Visit Nevis Villas

As a tropical island paradise, Nevis enjoys a year-round warm climate. This means that even in what is considered to be the winter season, you can still catch a tan. In general, most visitors choose to travel in the milder dry season as the rain showers are less frequent and the humidity is much lower. The peak travel season is between December and April. The summer months are typically wetter with sometimes extreme levels of humidity. Tropical storms sometimes blow across the islands between the months of June and October. This is generally considered the low travel season. If you want to avoid the crowds but still enjoy some good weather, you may consider traveling in May or November.

If you love shopping, you can spend your days at the many colorful markets and local art galleries. There are many sporting activities available on Nevis ranging from horseback riding to tennis, golf and hiking. It is one of those beautiful destinations where you can choose to be as active or as lazy as you like. It is the ideal destination for that romantic getaway or a perfect island honeymoon.

Things to See and Do from Your Caribbean Vacation Rentals in Nevis

If you would like to explore the island's cultural heritage, there are many historical landmarks and places of interest in the island. Just outside of Charlestown, you can see the ruins of the Hamilton Estate. This was once a flourishing sugar plantation. The ruins are covered with tropical foliage and their location provides great views over the city of Charlestown. The Museum of Nevis History is housed in a beautiful Georgian Building which was the birthplace of the Alexander Hamilton. The museum is housed on the first two floors of the building and from it, you can enjoy views of the Nevis harbor and beyond to the neighboring island of St. Kitts. The beaches in Nevis provide safe swimming areas and ideal sunbathing locations. Many have inshore reefs where you can swim out and enjoy some snorkeling. Pinney's Beach, Herbert's Beach and Cades Bay are known for their many beach bars and vibrant nightlife.
